DESCRIPTION

Percy Cottage is located in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. It is within a short walk of restaurants, cafes and bars and only a 6 minute walk to Shanklin seafront and sandy beach.

The cottage sleeps 4 in total (1 double bedroom with a queen sized bed for 2 adults and 1 double bedroom with 2 single beds that sleep 2). Children are welcome from 3 years upwards. The cottage is not equipped for children below the age of 3 (due to property not having a stair gate on the internal staircase or cot, high chair etc equipment). Smoking is not permitted inside and the owner does not take pets.

The interior retains the original exposed roof beams. All rooms overlook the garden which is enclosed and a place where you can relax and enjoy a family barbecue.

The cottage is not disabled friendly.

About David Allman

I am an experienced holiday accommodation owner and aim to ensure you enjoy your stay in Percy Cottage.

David Allman purchased this cottage in 2013

Why David Allman chose Shanklin

The cottage is nestled in the most visited part of Shanklin and situated amoungst thatched cottage properties. It has a history of being a popular well loved cottage enjoyed by many visitors over the years who have described it as being delightful and perfectly located in Shanklin. For those without transport there are bus stops. and a local train station. Shanklin is a gateway for travelling to all parts of the island.

What makes this cottage unique

I take the opportunity to stay at Percy Cottage myself at the begining and end of the holiday season it has a unique peaceful charming quality about it. It is located in the oldest part of Shanklin town Shanklin has golden sands and safe bathing. Along the sea front there are a wide range of facilities for children, such as crazy golf, trampolines and an adventure play area. Shanklin theatre is a short walk away.

Shanklin Chine is a 3 minute walk away which is a natural fissure in the cliff, formed by water cutting through sandstone. It drops 105 ft to sea level with dramatic waterfalls, deeply shaded paths which wind their way over a quarter of a mile to the sea. There are over 100 varieties of wild plants and many species of moss that flourish in the tranquil atmosphere. At the Chine the Heritage Centre, adjacent to the Gift Shop and Victorian Tea Room, contains an Exhibition and pictorial history of the Isle of Wight, together with a display and film show on the history of the Chine and Pipeline Under The Ocean (referred to as PLUTO).

Cute, quaint cottage in an idealic location

  • 5 out of 5
Perfect location, tucked away in the middle of Shanklin. Cottage has everything you need, like a little home from home.
There is no parking close by to the cottage (5 mins walk away) but a small sacrifice/compromise.
Definitely would like to return in the future.

Second holiday at this cottage.

  • 5 out of 5
The property is just like it is shown in the pictures. It is really comfortable, relaxing, clean and in a central location near to the beach. I would recommend it to friends and family. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I had a fantastic holiday and will be back again next year.
