Peaceful and nature-filled
My husband& I & two teens had always wished to stay in a log house so this house well represented that. The logging is beautiful as well as skylights and fireplace. We enjoyed the amenities of gameroon/hot tub since we had a few rainy days. The only disappointment was the misrepresentation of the"waterview."It cannot be seen from the house and it is a very small pond area.Slimy water & no sandy area as described.Overgrown w/ weeds.Forget swimming or fishing. Two frogs the whole week.Otherwise tranquil&green.Home appears clean but logging on walls dusty so if you are allergy/asthma prone bring lots of Benadryl.Great for retired couples/grandchildren get-a-way.
Owner's Response: We strive to make sure that our guests enjoy our log cabin as much as we do, so it is disappointing to hear that this family was not 100% happy with their stay.
I am confused, however, by this guests's expectation of a water view as we have never advertised the property this way in the 9 years we have been renting it to other families. The pond is located at the end of a walkway about 60 feet from the house. It is a natural pond which means that it has a leafy bottom and abundant aquatic life. Guests are welcome to swim, fish or search for frogs on its banks, read, relax and cook out on its sandy bank or have a fire in the fire pit.
The town beach, one mile away, is also free and available to visitors who would prefer to swim in a pond with a sandy rather than leafy bottom.
As to the dust on the logs, when guests use the fireplace as this family seems to have done, a light accumulation of ash may settle on the ledges of the log walls near the fireplace.
Our care taking team works hard and takes great pride in keeping our log cabin getaway scrupulously clean, as our 79 five-star reviews over the past 9 years will attest.
