Quidnet Nantucket

Best Family Vacation EVER!!

We went out on a limb trying HomeAway for the first time for our Nantucket vacation and we couldn't be happier with our decision! The pictures on the site were good, the house had everything that we needed, and I felt that we had made a great decision. But when we pulled up for the first time and saw the property, the location and the house - my heart skipped a beat!! It was perfect, so amazingly perfect!

The house has the most beautiful, soft cozy linens and the kitchen is so well stocked that I didn't even need to bring anything! (I brought my cheesecake pan from home thinking there was no way they would have one, but guess what?! They did!!) Every bed is super comfortable, every chair was warm and inviting and we were delighted at every turn. The kitchen table was large enough to host several very memorable family meals, and was especially perfect for the birthday we were celebrating.

We had experienced every type of weather, from calm and warm, to super windy and cold and then my favorite the "grey lady" exposed her amazing fog! But the house was so cozy the weather didn't matter, nor did it stop us from having a fabulous vacation.

We spend many early days driving to our favorite beach down at Surfside, but then we realized that just a hop, skip and jump from the house, we found beach access just down Quidnet Rd. Not to mention the beautiful Sankaty Lighthouse (which we were so excited we could actually see from both the cottage and deck off the master bedroom!! A must see location when you stay at this house!!) The Sesachacha Pond which was reachable from that same beach access, giving us a lot of exploration opportunities with the kids in tow.

We used both the main house and the quaint cottage, and our only kid issue was who was going to sleep in the cottage in the amazing berth bed with skylight!! Of course having Grandma and Grandaddy in the cottage made them want to be there every more! For Grandma and Grandaddy the cottage was a perfect escape from the fast pace of a young family. They were able to use the cottage's kitchen to supplement our meals as needed, without having to get in the way of the hubbub of the main house. It worked out perfectly!

Our communication with the owner was spot on from the very beginning. He was extremely attentive to our needs and questions, and worked very quickly to make sure that everything was perfect.

All in all, as said in the beginning, this was the PERFECT family home!!

Wonderful Quidnet Home!

We rented Bob and Virginia's wonderful Quident home for two weeks and had the best family vacation. We were two families traveling together with children in their 20's along with spouses, significant others and friends. People came and went as their schedules permitted, but at the peak we had 12 people staying here and the house (and guesthouse) accomodated us quite comfortably. The property is stunning; a beautiful rolling back lawn and complete privacy. The house is very well equipped with everything you will need including bikes, beach chairs, coolers, books, supplies, etc. We too own a vacation home in St John and we appreciate the care that Bob and Virginia put into the house. They were very responsive with good suggestions. The day we arrived (a Sunday) one of the two washing machines had evidently broken the day before and Bob had it fixed by Monday morning.
The house is about a mile from the Quidnet beaches (the pond and the ocean) and some of us would drive and others bike to the beach each day; the house is also right off the Sconset bike path and our morning routine was to bike into Sconset and get coffee or breakfast there; great way to start off the day. At the ocean beach, it was "crowded" if there were 20 other people on the beach and we had spectacular weather.

As for our restaurant favorites, for dinner we had a memorable meal at Company of the Cauldron (fixed menu; no choices, which changes every day so check their website) and our other favorites were The Sconset Cafe and Millie's. This was a great family vacation and we hope to be back. Thanks to Bob and Virginia!

First, Bob could not be nicer or more accommodating. we have been coming to Nantucket for the past 13 yrs. however this was the first time we stayed in QUIDNET. it surpassed our expectations to say the least. -we have found a new perfect place on island. Bob was very generous with information about everything form the town to where to play tennis. and the home is simply perfect. it was like stain at a close friend's place. we truly did not want to leave and are coming back again this year. AND pet friendly! THANK YOU BOB!

A Nantucket Thanksgiving

Our stay at this property was wonderful! The view of the rolling backyard and the location is idyllic. This was our first visit to Nantucket and this rental contributed greatly to a most pleasant experience.
This home is spacious, comfortable and stocked with every amenity. Big screen tv with cable, kitchen with more than ample cooking supplies, wi-fi and oversized dining table that accomodated 8 of us are some of the comforts of home. House was very clean and ready for our arrival. Beds are comfortable with nice linens. Towels are plush and ample. Washer and dryer are an added bonus.

Given that we visited in the off-season (the week of Thanksgiving), we made use of mild weather by walking (to the beach, around the cranberry bogs, to/from Altar Rock and around Nantucket town).
The beach is welcoming and observing the seals just 10 yards out was a thrill!
We did some Black Friday shopping downtown. On rainy days we enjoyed the extensive collection of reading materials, especially the coffee table books on Nantucket!
The owner is extremely helpful and readily available to address any concerns or questions. He recommended restaurants and offered suggestions.

We loved the Whaling Museum but didn't allow ourselves enough time for a complete visit. Guess this means that we will have to go back!

Overall, a great home and a great place. You must have a car as this property is located several miles out of town.

Two Weeks in Nantucket

We were happy to discover that 8 Salti Way lived up to and exceeded it online description. The house is nestled away from neighbors on a really lovely parcelsurrounded by screening vegetation. It was very private with plenty of yard space for our dogs to bound around. And at night, it is dark enough to see the Milky Way.

The house and cottage are very solid and well appointed, clean and comfortable. There is a great deck off the master bedroom and a large patio with a table that sits 8--plus gas grill.

The hosts were also very accommodating, very gracious and could not have made our visit any easier. Really nice people.

As for the location, the house is located away from the busier parts of the Island near a smaller beach area that provides a choice between ocean and bay swimming, with the latter appealing more to parents with small children. We preferred the beach at Quidnet, which was popular but rarely crowded, plus the surf casting activity was great--almost all blues (all released).

We would highly recommend this property to others and hope that hurricane Irene is kind to Nantucket, Quidnet and this property.
