Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Maida Vale - Formosa Street II
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with Notting Hill and its boutiques nearby
Safe with us
Have you ever wondered idly what makes some rests so rejuvenating? Well, we may just have stumbled on the secret. A trendy loft in the thick of Maida Vale, Formosa Street II is at once quiet, easy and storied. After you’ve delved into the area’s delightful cafés and boutiques, and lifted your historical hat to neighbours Freud and Turing, enter this home and you’ll leave the flurry far below. And if the leafy prints and uplifting tones are anything to go by, this hideaway is far from a cubby-hole. But it does happen to be close to just about everything else.
Your hostess is a journalist whose despatches have come from across the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan. When she is in town, she decidedly approves of her neighbourhood’s history and fine restaurants.
Secretive this home may be, but its merits are very much in plain sight. As the street bustles unheard below, you can vanish into the burnt red leather sofa or turn to the contemporary kitchen to conjure up a light lunch. And should you have walked yourself weary along London’s thundering thoroughfares, we think the gently sloping walls and relaxing plants are just what the drowsy city explorer desires best. That and a cosy, cuddly bedroom that might double as your very own den.

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Maida Vale
Introducing Maida Vale
There is nothing half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. And Maida Vale is the perfect place to do it. This is where the Grand Union Canal peters out in the Paddington Basin and joins the Regent's Canal, the former stretching as far north as Birmingham and the latter eventually meandering into Limehouse Basin in East London. With slender houseboats gently rocking and weeping willows sweeping the water, the locals call this area Little Venice – the gondoliers might be missing, but the Neapolitan pizzas at the Red Pepper on Formosa Street should sate any Italianate longings.
The Victorian mansions might be handsome and the area around Warwick Avenue has harboured famous names from David Ben Gurion to Alan Turing, but it's the waterways that provide the flavour of the neighbourhood (sorry, Duffy). At the Canal Café Theatre, the world's longest-running live comedy show, the News Revue, continues every Thursday through to Sunday, with luvvies having replaced the navvies having a pint of ale in the next-door Bridge House Pub – where better to enjoy a few tales from the canal bank.
