This property has been fully refurbished, freshly decorated and furnished with new solid wood furniture and quality soft furnishings in 2014.

2 Bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower room, the other bedroom can be arranged either as 2 singles or king size double, at renter's request.

The beds have quality mattresses with pocket sprung bases and memory foam tops.

Fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine / dryer, coffee maker.

Smart TV with free internet access.

The apartment has a lockable caged area in the basement for the storage of outdoor equipment such as bicycles, skis etc.

The lawn area outside is shared with the other apartments in the building and has spectacular views of the River Dee and surrounding hills, mountains and forests.

Why Mrs Susan Parkinson chose Ballater

I'm a keen cyclist and last year I cycled to Ballater for the first time. I was struck by what a lovely town it was; clean, friendly and well kept. On the way home I cycled past this building and thought what a great location, and then noticed a for sale sign in one of the windows.....the rest is history.

What makes this apartment unique

Although there are quite a few apartments in this building, it's extremely quiet. The apartment looks out onto the river and lawn and you could easily believe you were the only ones there.

A perfect location and beautiful apartment.

My husband and I were travelling for a long weekend with our 6 month old daughter. We couldn't be happier with the apartment and the travel cot and high chair provided for our stay.

The apartment is a good size, with sociable living room and kitchen area overlooking the riverside. The kitchen has everything for a long weekend or a longer stay. Smart TV lets u watch Netflix or similar if you have access. Broadband is available and quick. Coffee machine produces delicious coffee in a flash.

Decor is beautiful and neutral and the apartment immaculate. Bathrooms and kitchen spotless. There is a storage facility in the basement for bikes or prams etc.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful, showed us around the apartment and building and advised on the best places to visit and grab a bite. The owners hens aren't laying at the moment so no fresh eggs but the box of quality street on arrival went down a treat!

Apartment is very close to the Main Street with a couple of pubs and a number of cafés. Would recommend the lochnagar take away for an Indian! One of the best we've had. Bean for coffee does a fantastic breakfast snack and the are a couple of co op supermarkets close by if u need to grab some bits and pieces.

A lot of cyclists around this area and walking enthusiasts and the perfect place to stay too. Would not be disappointed with no 2 Monaltrie.

Very close to Loch Muick and Braemar, both only a short drive away and about an hour and a half from the highland wildlife park passing through the Lecht on the way.

We couldn't recommend this holiday rental highly enough and hope to return very soon.

P.S Our daughter Abby adores the heilan' coo perched on the arm of the sofa!

Short stay - cycling in Ballater

Plenty of car park spaces available and the lockable storage area in the basement was ideal for our bikes, and easily accessible. The flat was luxurious, immaculately clean and contained everything we needed (and more!). The village was lovely - beautiful gardens and village greens (where local pipe band was practising in the evening) and we were suprised how many shops and restaurants there were. Thoroughly enjoyed eating out in Indian & Italian restaurants + local pubs, where the food was excellent and locals very friendly. As for the cycling, we did a 33 mile loop via Burn o'Vat, Tarland and Aboyne on the first day. Recommend the Boat Inn at Aboyne for lunch. On the second day we cycled 22 miles via Royal Lochnagar distillery and Balmoral Castle. Both were really enjoyable - particularly liked the castle gardens and the cafe (venison pie!). Although we took our own bikes, there were 2 bike-hire shops in the village. Overall we had a brilliant holiday, with beautiful scenery and plenty of fresh air.
Final mention goes to the owner, Sue, who was extremely helpful and friendly. Definitely recommended!

Clean, cozy apartment in great outdoor environment

Our family really enjoyed this nicely decorated apartment, which is in a peaceful town and a building. The Balmoral castle was only short drive away. The owner was very nice and helpful and introduced the place by herself. We hope to have had time to be there longer than three nights. We could have given 5 stars, if the view to the river would have been open. Extra points for the barista -style coffeemaker.

Very well appointed apartment, excellent location

The apartment was excellent with all modern conveniences and very thoughtful touches. The location was excellent being near the high street and by the river. Weather was excellent, so much to do in the area, with walking and places of interest to see. Royal Deeside is such a beautiful area. We can thoroughly recommend the apartment as an ideal place to stay.

Cosy apartment perfect for Monro hiking

We had a fantastic time at this apartment for 2 nights over the May bank holiday to go hiking in the Monros. Its a lot bigger than it looks in the photos and although we were one couple it would be comfortable enough for 2 couples. Great selection of DVDs. Walking distance to pubs and co-op supermarket and nice less demanding walks from the door of the apartment. There are all the maps you need there. We used the OS map at the apartment for our 10 hour hike which was great as it meant we didn't need to buy one. Lots of space to park car. Would recommend to anyone, we will definitely be back for more hiking in the hills :)

Our stay at The Monaltrie, Ballater

A beautifully presented, very clean apartment. All furnishings and equipment were of a very high standard & tastefully decorated. We received a quick response from the owner to our e-mail enquiries and enjoyed the lovely extra touches of a 'welcome' bowl of fruit & home-produced eggs! The location is perfect for enjoying the many walking & cycling trails & very convenient to the local shops & restaurants. We found the apartment to be very quiet with a lovely view of the well-maintained landscaped gardens. There was also use of secure cellar storage for bikes etc. We would definitely recommend to family & friends. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Monaltrie.
