Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Taos Ski Valley - Wilderness Lodge
Lodging 5 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 12)
Nestled below New Mexicos two highest peaks, Kachina and Wheeler, this stunning private home offers the ultimate in stylish mountain luxury.
Perched at the very top of Taos Ski Valley, the Wilderness Lodge at Kachina Peak is the highest private residence and accommodation in the state sitting at 10,200 feet. Designed by acclaimed hotel designer Alexandra Champalimaud, Wilderness Lodge is decorated with an eclectic and stylish array of furnishings from Europe and Africa. Woven fabrics from Morocco and India adorn the rooms. A huge reclaimed dhow wood table holds elephant treasures and memories -anchoring the warm and inviting living room. Native American ghost paintings hang above Lamu daybeds - the mix is at once tranquil and compelling.
Inspired by the look and feel of the old mining cabins which once dotted this wild western landscape, the exteriors and interiors are defined by high pitched roofs and shaft-like windows clad in a contemporary blend of rusted tin, reclaimed wood and local plaster. The rustic exterior is made from 150 year old reclaimed timbers and siding sourced from a shed once owned by the Winchester Rifle Company in Massachusetts.
Let this be your winter get-a-way or a summer escape to beat the heat in the high region of New Mexico where adventures abound.
