About this property

Luxury villa / chalet near Cortina in the heart of the Dolomites-LAST MINUTE SEPTEMBER

This ancient dwelling Cadore, from the mid-century. XV, is located in Valle di Cadore, a town of about 2000 inhabitants, in the heart of the Dolomite region.

The building, which has been restored recently and has been the subject of a monographic publication (see. Paola Arduini, 'Galeazzi Casa del Carmine: an ancient cadorina' dwelling, Vianello Libri, 2013, ISBN 88-7200-401-2), is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the Cadore: it belonged to the ancient house of del Carmine Galeazzi , whose origins date back to Andrea da Cesena, mercenary captain in the pay of the Serenissima. The current owners are descended from just such a family. The recent restoration of the building made it possible to bring back to light interesting architectural and decorative details, including fine frescoes dating from the buckets. XVI and XVIII. Even much of the interior furnishings are from the furniture and furnishings from the family and are an interesting historical and artistic documentation.

The house is suitable for those who love, in addition to comfort, tranquility and nature, that is old, valuable and rich in history.

From the spacious terraces facing south and sunny garden it offers a splendid view of the Dolomites. The nearest ski slopes are San Vito di Cadore - 15 km - and Cortina d'Ampezzo, 'queen' of the Dolomites and home to the 1956 Winter Olympics - 23 km away.

Among the many recreational and sporting activities that can be practiced in the vicinity will be mentioned cycling and mountain biking, fishing, golf, horse riding, mountaineering, paragliding, ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, summer skibob, swimming, tennis, walking, caving, free climbing, rafting, windsurfing, sailing.

An indoor swimming pool (heated and with saltwater) and a spa tub completely restore the guests after a day in sports or cultural activities, before dinner in the large frescoed dining room or backyard barbecue.

The house can accommodate up to 8 adults and 3 children, 4 bedrooms on the first floor, each with private bath. On the ground floor there are 1 large fully equipped kitchen (with table for 8-10 people), 1 dining room (for 12 persons), 1 living room, 1 dining room (with single sofa bed and a private bathroom with shower: for a possible ninth adult guest), 1 laundry room, 1 toilet.

The indoor heated pool 28 ° -30 ° degrees (downstairs, at garden level) is equipped with a toilet and chromotherapy shower, as well as a fitness area and a relaxation area with 70-inch TV, table football, playstation,.

The rates are calculated for 8 adults; other options will be considered when booking.

Rates include:

A perfect place for all the family
We all loved it here! A perfect place to celebrate a big birthday with small grandchild, adult children and visiting friends. Highlights were Belluno, Passo Giau in the snow (building igloo!), Cibiana and Monte Rite, walk up to chapel of San Dionisio, and of course the lovely pool! Beatrice and Massimiliano of Il Capriolo gave us a really memorable meal at the house - highly recommended.

Luxurious, well-appointed, and lovingly restored
The Casa Galeazzi del Carmine in Valle Di Cadore was a fantastic find. It is close to Cortina d'Ampezzo (but not too close to feel faux authentic). It has a wonderful library, fine kitchen, and indoor pool. There are ample rooms to read and relax - (including two living rooms and a huge formal dining room) as well as a small restored stone-arched alcove chamber that feels absolutely timeless. There is private garage parking for two cars as well as a little bike shop and market within easy walking distance. The vistas of the Dolemites from the balcony are stellar, and the WiFi systems are very fast (e.g., you can stream NetFlix with no issues). Finally, the owner Paola was a gem (and a wealth of information). She has written a lovely coffee-table style book on the restoration of the villa that is available on Amazon that has a wealth of information on the Villa. We were there in mid September, and the temperatures were excellent, and most of the lifts were open (e.g., 5 torri, Misurina, etc.). If you are inclined to biking, the path # 9 going to Prato Piazza from Cortina was great (rent a regular or e-bike from the "Snow Service 1" sports shop across from the market in Cortina). The Villa (Casa Galeazzi del Carmine) is a classic house!

Elegant historic home in the Dolomites
Casa Galeazzi has been in Paola's family since the fifteenth century. When it came into her hands, she embarked on a wholesale restoration project, with the purpose of retaining as much of the old as was possible whilst making it a comfortable home for today - and wow, has she succeeded! There are original frescoes and antique furniture everywhere, with squashy sofas and modern facilities in the kitchen and bathrooms. The spa area downstairs is beautifully done. In short, if you want the romance of the past with none of its inconveniences, this is the place to stay!

Lovely stay at the beautiful Casa Galeazzi
We spent a week at Casa Galeazzi in February and loved every minute of it. Paola and Stefano were very welcoming and helpful hosts, and Maria was the dream housekeeper! The house itself is very beautiful and has been lovingly restored. It comfortably fit our group of seven, and was very clean and well maintained, with Maria visiting daily. We especially loved the pool and recreation area, as well as the breathtaking views. The house is perfectly located for a ski holiday in the Dolomite region, although it is a 30 minute drive to the main resort of Cortina. There are nice shops and restaurants locally so we didn't find this to be a problem. A big thank you to Paola, Stefano and Maria! We will definitely be back!
