A wonderful family holiday location, having easy walking distance to local small coves & beaches where families are well catered for with small cafes etc. Stunning coastal footpath walks for the more adventurous take you down to St Catherine's Light House with magical views and there are some great local pubs to stop at for Lunch or supper such as the Budle in Niton which is about 3 miles away from Lisle Combe Cottage. Or if you choose to explore in the other direction, less than a 5 minute walk will take you to the Ventnor Botanical Gardens which again is a wonderful place to explore for all ages. From there, visitors can walk along the coast towards the local town of Ventor ( about a 30 minute walk of approximately 2.5 miles) The coastal footpath & sea air should build up your appetite to enjoy eating out in the local town of Ventnor where there is a perfect range of places to eat from small cafes to Tapas bars on the sea front to pubs and restaurants such as the Hamborough or if you feel the urge to explore further along the coast to the next village of Bonchurch there is a lovely restaurant called The Pond ( booking is normally advised for this restaurant due to its size and popularity).
The southern coastline of the Island is a great place for fossil hungering and there are guides that can point you in the right direction even pointing out dinosaur footprints!
A 15 minute drive will take you further to theme parks such as Blackgang Chine suitable for all ages or Robin Hill. There are good local golf courses, riding stables, bicycles can be hired in Ventnor ( even electronic ones for those wishing to not challenge themselves quite so much !).
The Island is home to Carisbrook Castle, And Osbourne House both make wonderful days out for all ages. There is such a lot to do on the Island , but is is also the most idyllic spot just to unwind either on a beach with a good book or sit in the garden at Lisle Combe Cottage and just relax and enjoy the peaceful sea views.
