Only 25-minutes from downtown Quito and the Nord of the city, in the valley of the Chillos (Conocoto), you and your family will be able to enjoy your vacation in the capital of Ecuador. Noiseless, just the chirping of birds in a European style house full of comfort and good taste. All of its rooms have a view to the garden, a terrace shadowed by a beautiful bougainvillea for eating outdoors or having appetizers in company of hummingbirds that are drinking nectar from the many flowers. You can enjoy the view of the mountains of the Andes mountain chain..
Gated house with intercom, automatic entry and remote access for guests/visitors/taxi/food delivery.
You can stroll down the property which is totally private (4.000 square meters). A 6-minute drive will get you to the largest shopping center of Quito, full of fashionable boutiques, banks, light food, Ecuadorian traditional food restaurants, bookstores, supermarkets, cinemas, play zones, local and international phone booths, etc.
It is a great opportunity for visiting Quito. The downtown area and the north of the city are only at 25 minutes. For transportation you can hire a Rent-a-Car that we can arrange or hire the services of a local private chauffer or make use of the taxis that are not only economical but safe.

My name is Vicky Frey and my professional background is in acting. A few years ago, I decided to make one of my homes available to guests. Since that time, I've been delighted to meet a number of interesting people and have had the chance to exchange ideas, practice my English and to help introduce them to the customs and culture of Ecuador. I know my country and my city well and have been able to refer my guests to fine restaurants, little-known tourist sites and markets, shopping, theater, concerts and a variety of other local and regional events, as well as to help my guests with their own planned travels and agenda. During their visit, I remain in residence in a small home close by with my daughter Pamela, and we delight in helping our guests with the information they need for a wonderful stay. We speak Spanish, German, English and Italian. Our experience has been that our visitors arrive as guests and leave as our friends. I hope you will visit us.
Vicky purchased this house in 1984
Years ago we wanted to buy a property in a valley surrounded by a forest. My family and I always wished to have a special place to relax and enjoy the nature and a great weather, plenty of sunshine, where the nights are not so cold. As well, we chose this property in order to be close to the city, it is a paradise where my daughters have grown and enjoyed the sun and the pool.
It's nice to have a place that has all the modern city benefits and at the same time is a place where there is peace and opportunity for in the evening, finding oneself in the heat of the fireplace and a glass of wine.
We just spent six weeks based here, making a number of excursions to lodges and parks with the Villa Jardín as our base, and the plan worked perfectly. After hiking, trails, heat, bugs, inconvenience etc. it was wonderful to come back to the comfort and conveniences of our temporary home.
The property and the house totally live up to expectations: the garden is lovely, and the house both beautiful and fully equipped. Vicky is close by, in the other house on the property, always available with help and advice, but always respecting our privacy too. The dogs are all sweeties (just don't let them accompany you if you walk through the village, it causes a maelstrom of barking and squabbling).
We didn't rent a car, and found public transit amazingly good and cheap, although crowded and rackety. A ten-minute walk downhill to the bus stop, then a half-hour ride into Quito (27 cents) where you can walk up to the old city, or connect with the north-south bus routes (flat rate 25 cents) that take you at least close to almost everything.
The location of the house is spectacular, too, with amazing views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. An excellent choice, and would definitely recommend to friends.
If you don't need to stay close to the city center, like flowered gardens, nice dogs and friendly landlords nearby, this is your place to be. Besides, this tranquil location will allow you to relax when affected by Quito's climate.
We had a wonderful time staying in your home for two week. We and our three boys especially loved the warm clean swimming pool and the three dogs, who were so well behaved and friendly with us - both adults and children (5, 8 and 15).
The property is very secluded and has wonderful views from the house and gardens over the Chillios valley and mountains beyond, but is still only a short journey to Conocoto and San Rafael(and St. Luis mall).
The gardens are lovely and the house very warm and homely and we would recommend it to anyone as long as they would be OK with very friendly dogs - they stay out of the house but are often around the garden/pool.
We hope to return!
What an amazing month! Myself, my wife, and three children (7,9,13) stayed at Vicky's wonderful Villa Jardin for the month of June, 2014. The reality of the property is far superior to the photos. The gardens are amazing, the pool crystal clear. Vicky and her family were helpful, attentive, and respected our privacy. The house is clean, nicely detailed, tastefully decorated, and thoroughly updated. Views of snow-capped Antisana and el Ilalo from the patio are world class. Hummingbirds (I counted 5 species), butterflies, and lightning bugs are just the beginning of the wildlife that abounds in this beautiful valley. We used the solar-heated pool just about every day.
We spent 2-3/4 weeks at the house in Conocoto and 1-1/4 weeks traveling around.
We had an amazing time in Otavalo, Papallacta, and the Galapagos, but I enjoyed our time in San Miguel de Conocoto as much if not more. Vicky was extremely helpful and kind during our trip. She arranged transportation from the airport, bought some food items for us before we arrived, brought us shopping on our first day, advised us on local travel, helped us with changing money and some local banking transactions, and was an excellent neighbor and friend, as was her daughter, Pamela.
While the rest of Ecuador has a lot to offer--so does the Valle de los Chillos.
I climbed Volcan Pasochoa and saw a pair of Andean Condors.
La Cascada del Rio Pita is unique, beautiful, and exciting.
The market in Sangolqui on Thursdays and Sundays is the quintessential highland market.
San Pedro del Tingo is a wonderful Ecuadorean town in a classic setting.
Daily walks to buy ice cream from any number of tiendas with the kids were a regular highlight.
Buying bread baked daily while it was still warm was a treat.
Roast chicken from Pollo Stav. They deliver. Crazy delicious.
Go for it! You'll be glad you did, and always glad to get back to Villa Jardin. This place is fantastic.
From Norway, we would like to thanks Mrs Vicky and her family for å very nice stay at this wonderful house. Mrs Vickys attention and service was over all expectations. We really injoyed the lovely garden with so many flowers and a great swimming pool. The view was very nice over valley. We look forward to come back one day to this nice place. Abrazos desde Noruega:)
Vicky welcomed us with wonderful hospitality. After showing us the ropes of the property, she took us to the nearby grocery store and a fabulous Ecuadorian restaurant. Our first night we had wonderful food and local expertise in the grocery store.
The kids fell in love with the 3 dogs, as they played football and explored the gardens. The weather is warmer then you think from looking at the temperatures and many days it was nice enough to swim before a day out. Late days it would cloud over and rain. The gardens are absolutely magnificent.
Vicky helped arrange taxis and drivers and we usually kept the driver all day because it was easy to get back home that way. We visited Mindo, which was awesome, staying at El Monte, which Vicky recommended. Best advice is meet as many locals as possible as the people are very warm and nice.
Dental work and other doctors are well worth the visit while in Ecuador as they are highly qualified and not basing their judgements on what insurance would recommend.
Overall we had a wonderful time and will be back.
Near to dowtown Quito.
The opportunity to visit Cotopaxi, a volcano, at an elevation of 4,750 meters is a unique experience. Cotopaxi is only one hour from the property.
Near to Pasochoa Willife park, hom of 127 bird species.
La Moya Park.
