The Vacation Home: Newly renovated on the stunning blue Pacific Ocean, Kauai Paradise House is a truly unique oceanfront and riverfront property featuring its own private beach, oceanfront views, 3 king-bed suites (the third of which can be converted to 2 twin beds if desired), gourmet kitchen, travertine tile floors, 3 marble bathrooms, great room with entertainment center, covered lanai, lush backyard, and private deck and dock.
This sophisticated home with a resort feel boasts thoughtful touches throughout, including Tommy Bahama furniture, luxury linens, dual master suites with king-size beds and walk-in showers, new gourmet kitchen with top-of-the-line stainless-steel appliances (including toaster oven, blender and coffee maker), marble guest bathroom with large walk-in shower, spacious family room with TV and DVD/CD player, high-speed Internet, telephone, TVs and DVDs in every bedroom, gas BBQ on the covered lanai overlooking the deep blue sea, and private oceanfront deck with steps down to your own boat dock.
The Island: Kauai, the 'Garden Island,' is composed of a diverse terrain that is home to rain forests, canyons, cliffs and beaches. To the north is the rugged Na Pali district, with peaks as high as 4,000 feet, and remnants of ancient places of worship. On the island's east side, the Wailua River wends its way through dense forests and plunges over waterfalls before emptying into the Pacific Ocean. To the south is the tourist district, once the vacation destination of royalty. On the west side, is the sleepy town of Waimea, near where Captain Cook first landed. In the center of the island is Mount Wai'ale'ale, the Earth's rainiest spot.
Activities: Rent a kayak (a local vendor offers 7 days for the price of 5!) and paddle right from the private dock to the private and peaceful white sandy beach, or paddle up the quiet Wainiha River to explore the lush green island. In addition to the private beach in front of your vacation home, you can drive a few minutes north for world-famous surfing, diving and snorkeling at Tunnels Beach, or continue past the wet and dry caves to the end of the road at Haena. Snorkel there, or start your North Shore hike along Kauai's famed Na Pali coastline. Also available nearby are scuba diving, wind-surfing, sailing, deep sea fishing, submarine tours, top-flight golf courses, spas, hiking, horseback riding, helicopter tours, and shopping and dining. Alternatively, you can just relax on the lanai or private deck in the ocean breeze, or stroll across the street for the daily paper and a cup of coffee and exotic island snack at the historic Wainiha General Store, or for a hot authentic Hawaiian breakfast or lunch at Red Hot Mama's restaurant.

Opening the front door, we knew we had found paradise. Your home is just too beautiful for words. It was like winning the lotto! This was our 10th time to Hawaii, and we could not have spent it at a better place.
Beautiful home, very roomy, highly recommended! You could not go wrong staying here for your next vacation. We were delighted to find this home has everything needed to make you feel like your at home, and the location is fabulously scenic, right on a river outlet that flows into the ocean. We loved sitting on the huge shaded deck while watching the ocean waves. Sitting on the sunny deck to catch some rays was also a joy. The winter ocean was intense with huge waves like we have never seen crashing on shore and the sandbar changed its shape daily. Leaving the doors open at night, we fell asleep to the crashing waves, talk about heaven!!! We were even treated to the locals surfing. We ventured across the river on to the sandbar and looked for shells and hung out. If your not into the tourist scene this is the place to be! Great hiking trails right up the road, only minutes from the Napali coast, caves, many other beaches and awesome views. Our regrets are we did not stay here for our full two weeks while we were in the Hawaii Islands, which we would have preferred. We stayed at other places around the same price, but the other places did not even compare. We will come back one day with more friends, or family, and will for sure stay here! Our stay here was the highlight of our 2 week vacation!!!!
We very much enjoyed our week at this house. The views are gorgeous. The house was very clean and well-maintained. We were three adult couple plus a 6-month old baby. The two main bedrooms and baths on either end of the house are spacious, comfortable, and have lovely ocean views. Beds were comfortable. The third bedroom is quite tight, has twin beds, and is on the noisy & bright road side. It does, at least, have a private bathroom. In hindsight, I would only suggest that room for older kids. The kitchen was well equipped. We cooked many meals there. Used the gas grill. Spent a lot of time on the covered lanai. The location is convenient for all the north shore sights as long as you have a car. You do need to drive to get to a good-sized beach. You can swim/paddle across the river out in front of the house (pretty cold) to get to the little strip of beach across, but it is not convenient. If you are sensitive to noise, the neighbor has a rooster, and another has some hounds that howl like crazy at feeding time. We appreciated the boogie boards and snorkeling gear provided so that we didn't need to rent any of that. There was a nice high chair. We had to rent the pack 'n play at $10/night which seemed silly- should just be provided since they are cheap to buy. Having the convenience store across the street was handy and seemed to be the meeting place for all the local police. Hot Mamas (referred to in other reviews) went out of business while we were there. In town, we enjoyed meals at Postcards, Hanalei Gourmet, & Bouchon's. Had a nice time sitting at the bar at Bar Acuda. We did the 6-hour Captain Sundown Na Pali coast boat tour & snorkel and enjoyed that a lot. We also did the Sunshine helicopter tour which was a real treat.
This house was in the perfect location. Out the back door was a comfortably furnished lanai, a nice well kept grassy backyard, beautiful views/access to the ocean, and out the front door was the convenient little Last Chance market, and delicious Red Hot Mamas take-out. Just down the road past the house are lots of beaches including Tunnels and Ke'e beach (which are both great for snorkeling, lounging), as well as access to the Na Pali Coast via Kalalau trail which is just 3-1/2miles from the house where the road actually ends. Being at this end of the island means if you wake up fairly early, you may have privacy out on the water, at the beach, or hiking before visitors from other parts of the island load in (which they did, it was a busy time of the year while we were visiting). The house was an awesome place to spend the day; there was really no need to leave because it provided everything necessary for a relaxing day. There is a ton of comfy lawn furniture and beach towels, floaties, a raft, and Boogie boards and fins to float across the river to the private beach, there's a dinning table for six, nice showers, good ventilation and fans to keep the temp right, a nice updated kitchen to cook with the necessary utensils and appliances including a couple blenders so you can keep those fruit smoothies and cocktails flowing. Our group was three couples and we thought all of the bedrooms were great though I would like to mention that the third "master" (or two twins) is definitely smaller than the other two, it has a really nice bathroom but which is also significantly smaller, it doesn't have an ocean view out the bedroom, instead the window faces the road and the Last Chance market leaves their lights on at night so it can be bright coming through the window even with the blinds closed. But when you are spending all day spoiled with views of the ocean it shouldn't be too heartbreaking to be without the view while you're sleeping; just leave the bedroom door open and you will still hear the lull of the sea to put you to sleep. Great place, Iw ill definitely recommend it to others. Thanks!!
This was our 3rd different island to visit. What a wonderful place to stay, just what I was looking for. The view out the back porch was as good as the pictures. The home was clean and quiet, with plenty of room for 5 adults. Quiet even though right out the front door was the Last Chance Store and Hwy 56. However, the road ended just 3 miles away at Ke'e Beach so the traffic was not heavy even on Memorial Day weekend. The home is well stocked with dishes etc, and even a supply of beach chairs, mats, beach towels and rafts, not to mention a washer and dryer (pack light & wash). The owners were friendly and very helpful. Just down the road to the east (10 min scenic drive) was Hanalei, with a fantastic beach, and a bunch of small restaurants, small shops, grocery etc. Rent snorkle gear at Snorkel Depot in Hanalei. And don't miss Mai Tais, pizza and live music at the Tahiti Nui. The Post Card Cafe was beautifu with excellent food, but expensive, the fish market had excellent selection and the Kountry Kitchen in Kapaa had macadamia nut pancakes to die for.
Two pieces of advice, and this is by no means criticism. This area is fairly remote, so don't go expecting to find a lot of night life or shopping. This is NOT a resort, so it is relaxed and quiet and a long way from almost everywhere else on the island (but the beaches), but you will have to make your own Pina Coloda here or drive into Hanalei.. This house has no airconditioning. I usually want it but the sea breeze and ceiling fans kept every thing very comfortable. But if you need airconditioning consider this. Last, a suggestion; the step from the deck to the river was long, and slippery, especially at low tide. I would suggest one last step or a platform closer to the water.
Stayed here 7-22 through 7-29, it was the best vacation ever. Love the quiet location and dream of owning my own home here.
My husband, I, and our two young daughters just had too short of a stay at this beautiful property. The house has been tastefully updated/renovated. It is quite spacious with each room having its own full bathroom. It was fully stocked with everything you could possibly want or need from beach umbrellas, floaties, boogies boards, board games, childrens' toys, highchairs, beach towels, etc., etc. The river is quite refreshing, especially after a long day at the beach. It was such a nice way to cool down and shed some sand! Our only surprise is that this property isn't truly on the ocean. There aren't any buildings between you and the ocean, but you can't walk out the door and onto the beach. You first must swim or kayak over the river. I estimate the width of the river to be about 50 yards and it's too deep to touch the bottom. That being said, you have unobstructed ocean views from all the rooms and since you can't drive to that beach, it was very private. If we had truly been on the sand, we would have had people walking in front of the place all day. So, although we were surprised and a little disappointed at first that the ocean access wasn't easier, we quickly came to appreciate the set-up. The backyard was fully fenced along the river which made for a fairly safe place for our toddler to play, supervised of course, but safer than if we were directly on the ocean or the river without a fence. We would definitely stay here again, especially when our infant daughter is old enough to go into the river on a floatie too. We put our toddler into her floaties and took her across to the beach and she loved it!
