Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Glencoe - Detached House With Stunning Loch And Mountain Views

Sleeps 6. 3 bedroom house with stunning views over Loch Linnhe to the mountains of Ardgour. Perfectly located for outdoor activities and exploring the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Glencoe, Fort William, Oban, Ardnamuchan Peninsula all easily accessible. Hill walking, mountain biking, golf and watersports on the doorstep. Lochside cycle path 2 minutes away. Scenic 20 min walk to loch side hotel and restaurant.

The Old Schoolhouse is excellently located for exploring the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. To the east are the mountains of Glencoe and remote Glen Etive. To the west the wildlife of rugged Ardnamurchan. South brings bustling Oban with its seafood and ferries to the Isles. North lies Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. Further on lies Glenfinnan, location for the Harry Potter films, the white beaches of Arisaig and Skye via the ferry from Mallaig. The house is full of character. The lounge was once a schoolroom and is spacious and bright with stunning views over the loch. It has a cosy wood burning stove which provides plenty of heat all year round. The bedrooms are in a more recent extension and are warm and comfortable. The house has been sympathetically decorated throughout. There are numerous outdoor activities on the doorstep and a large, sunny garden for quiet days. The loch side cycle path opposite the house provides easy walking and cycling with lovely views.

We really loved our stay in the cottage.

It was very well equiped especially for the kids. it was clean and the communication with the owner was excellent.

From the cottage we made several trips. The weather was absolute gorgeous. And the view....wauw!

Happy to recommend

  • 4 of 5

Stayed for a week from late September and had a really great time. Location of house is an excellent base for exploring the area. The house itself is better than the pictures suggest. Its comfortable and well equipped with plenty of space. We went with our dog and appreciated the secure garden.

Would have liked to have wifi in the house but we knew its not available in advance. Water pressure in the shower is lower than we would have liked.

Very easy to organise the booking etc with Fiona and would be happy to recommend to anyone.

Return to Otter Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Another great visit to this well appointed cottage. Tastefully decorated, with a great main room. Can't beat a wood burning stove. Nice modern, bathroom, kitchen with all the necessary pots, pans and crockery etc. The views across Loch Linnhe to Morven & Ardgour even on a dull day are really special. If you are really lucky you may even see an otter from the front window!

Nice traffic free cycle path to Appin and Glencoe on the doorstep. So much to do another visit can't come too soon.

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is perfectly described, nothing was different. It is a great location for exploring the local area - can't believe how much we crammed into a fortnight. During the fortnight we had the option of having the bedding changed and clean towels left; this was nice. Clear instructions were left on aspects such as when to leave the bins out, where to leave them and which one to leave out. The cottage is so well equipped - everything we needed for the fortnight; as always we took our slow cooker with us (we've been doing this every time we book a cottage) and this gave us the option of cooking first thing for our return. There's only one key so you do need to arrange who is going to be in when. Loads of toys left that would entertain a child from birth up to about seven including outdoor toys. There is the dryer which you can hang outside but there's a clothes horse left which means you can wash during your time there. Really can't fault the cottage or the owner's communications; so much so that we're going back next year. As the cottage is all on one level you could manage if you were disabled as there's a ramp up to the door and only a small step into the shower. This is a good base for those seeking the thrills of the mountains or for sightseeing. We have a young child (5) and he loved it but it is equally a nice cottage for those with teenagers. Too big for a romantic getaway as it sleeps 6. I don't know about pets as we didn't ask to take ours with us. If you haven't got a car I think you'd need to check out local transport but the bus stops are close by.

Cottage with wonderful views

  • 5 of 5

Two of us spent a week in The Old Schoolhouse in Kentallen, and were impressed with its spaciousness. We were particularly impressed by how well the kitchen was equipped, and enjoyed using it. Although it rained a lot of the time, we spent many happy hours sitting on the outside steps watching the beautiful and ever-changing views from the cottage over the loch and mountains. The cottage is two minutes from the edge of the loch and 15 minutes walk to the hotel on the waterside. We did a lot of walking, and sightseeing round Glen Coe and Glen Nevis, and a boat tour of Loch Linnhe. We also made it to Mull for the day, and the journey there was spectacular. We also thoroughly enjoyed the wood-burning stove. We came home feeling relaxed and refreshed. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to explore this part of Scotland.
