Lovely historic house in great town

  • 5 of 5

Lovely house! The description was accurate to the last word and the owner and her agent a joy to deal with. Everything went just as planned. The house is perfect for holidaying families, with comfortable good facilities. Location is great - central enough to walk everywhere but out of the bustle of the touristy town centre. The owner has put together a great 'guidebook' to Bruges and we tried several of the recommended restaurants, which were all of a good standard.

We had a great time!

Owner's Response: We love sharing our house, and we are always happy to hear that our home in Brugge made someone's holiday travel special. There is so much to see in Brugge and the surrounding area, and we think our house is the perfect place to relax at the end of a day of biking, sightseeing, or shopping. We hope you'll agree. Thank you to all our wonderful renters.

What a wonderful little slice of Brugge

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this lovely home speaks of Brugge from the moment you walk in the front door and are greeted by the owner....the home is well furnished with many antiques and the kitchen is well equipped. Loved all the hats which harken back to the time when this area was a "hat maker" area thus the name of the house and the street. The ten minute walk to the main square is very pleasant and it was nice to come back and relax away from the maddening crowds...and a must try restaurant "Tom's Diner" actually a fantastic bistro is practically out the front door...

Perfect Location and Wonderful Host

  • 5 of 5

De Hoedenmaker was the perfect place to spend our vacation in Bruges. It was a very quick walk to the city center, but a very quiet and enjoyable place to stay. The house was better than we imagined, but having Francis as a host was what made our stay so incredible. Bruges is very easy to navigate, and Francis left plenty of information for any questions we may have had. He thought of everything before our arrival, and even left two Belgian beers in the refrigerator and chocolates for us to enjoy upon our arrival. We had issues with the radiator (the radiator was fully functioning, but we are unfamiliar with them) so Francis came over to help at 9:00 PM one night. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed for our stay. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and would stay there again if we ever returned to Bruges!

Excellent accommodation for in Bruges City Center.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely place to stay if you're in Bruges. Bell Tower and other city center attraction within walking distance (10 minutes). The cosy building can accommodate up to 6 persons (3 couples). The kitchen is fully equipped, so worries about the breakfast part (just do your morning shopping at the excellent local groceries stores).

Owners have been very friendly and informative.

Warm and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in November of 2014. The house had everything we needed. There were 4 adults and we much appreciated the room to spread out for quiet time after a week of travel together! Francis was absolutely as accommodating as he could be and even gave us a ride when we had a parking dilemma! We found the house to be up to date and comfortable, a warm welcome at days end. It is close to a supermarket for basic needs and a short walk from town. In fact, we appreciated that it was a brief walk because the house was quieter than other closer accommodations we had considered!

We plan to return to Brugge and bring our kids. Without hesitation I would stay here again.
