Affordable luxury at the beach, easy commute to Manhattan

Firstly let me say that Marina is a wonderful and caring host. Marina answered promptly every email we sent with various enquiries about the apartment and area. Her apartment is just lovely and true to the pictures. It was very roomy, beautifully furnished, very comfortable and CLEAN. We felt very safe in the area and travelling on the bus late at night from the ferry. The apartment has everything you need to self cater and the location close to small deli type shops was very handy for this purpose. It was very handy having use of the free computer to check emails from home. There are a couple of bus services which stop right across the road from the apartment. One will take you to the ferry (a journey of about 20 minutes and then a 20 minute ferry crossing); one is a direct express to Manhattan and the other will take you to a subway in Brooklyn where you can catch a train into Manhattan. We would suggest when using the bus service to the ferry and the ferry itself that you avail yourself of timetables to save missing a ferry and having to wait at least 30 minutes for the next one. Make sure you note the return bus stops for the express buses and times to again reduce waiting times. You can purchase a $50 transport card valid for 7 days that will also cover the subways and express buses. There are other transport values that may suit longer stays. The ferry is free. The boardwalk across from the apartment makes for a lovely walk and the beach is one of the best family beaches we have ever seen. The restaurant on the boardwalk is a lovely place to have an evening drink and a bite to eat after a day in Manhattan. As this was our first trip to the USA it was wonderful being met by Marina and then being taken back to the airport when we were due to fly home. The apartment has everything you need and we would recommend Marina and her apartment to others wishing to stay in New York and particularly on Staten Island. We hope to stay at Marina's apartment when we visit New York again.

We (2 adults and 3 teenagers) have spent 2 weeks in Marina's holiday home. This is the ideal way to discover New York without having to run to see everything in 5 days. We could go daily in the city (Manhattan) quickly with the express bus or sometimes with the ferry. After a few hours in Manhattan, we liked to return to the calm of Staten Island and enjoy the beach, especially it was very hot. The accommodation was well conditioned, very clean and comfortable, and our hostess Marina very nice and helpful. The kitchen is fully equipped. There are some shops and good restaurants nearby. The bus stop is very close. The property description on the website and reviews from other tenants are perfectly entirely consistent with reality.
In summary, it was perfect for a 2 week stay for a family.

Traveling with four teenagers could not have been easier. The apartment was exactly as pictured, offering plenty of room to accommodate all of us comfortably. It was clean and well-maintained. Marina was very nice and did not bother us at all, although she offered that we call her if we needed anything. Commuting to Manhattan was quite convenient. Nearby delis were a great option for meals if your choice is not to cook. As a former resident of Staten Island returning to visit family and also do some tourist type sightseeing, this was perfect. I would recommend the property and will return the next time I visit NYC.
