SECURE, PRIVATE PROPERTY, DRAMATICALLY BUILT INTO THE ROCK FACE, OCEAN BLUES has the flexibility to offer:

ALL ROOMS overlook the Caribbean Sea and have breathtaking views of the ocean and spectacular sunsets.

THE SUN DECK (recently refurbished) has a low balcony wall overlooking the Caribbean Sea, with a rocky revetment directly below. Furnished with matching sunbeds, table with own parasol & 4 chairs, plus a larger 11’ cantilevered parasol.

THE POOL – the romantic, healthy and environmentally-friendly salt pool has been recently redesigned with an infinity edge.

THE SEA – bathing in the sea is sheer paradise, and it is accessed from the small cove reached via a spiral stone staircase with shower , cut into the rock, leading from the sun deck. The sea bed is mainly sandy, with soft rock further out.

WATER SPORTS – all forms of water sports are available nearby

FISHING – you can fish direct from the sun deck (please note fishing tackle not provided)

Location: Located at St James on the fashionable West (Platinum) Coast, set in dazzling bougainvillea & hibiscus, flanked by palm and casuarians, 'Ocean Blues' is a truly wonderful private house. Whilst allowing security, privacy and peace of mind it is conveniently situated on the main highway, approx. 3 miles north of the capital, Bridgetown, and out of sight of the nearby main hotels, restaurants and shops.Ocean Blues is a taxi ride away from the airport and local buses and taxis are readily available. Water sports are available nearby. At night, floodlight illuminates the terraces, garden and pool. You can see magnificent sunsets reflected in the wonderful Caribbean Sea. Terraces/garden offer privacy for sunbathing. The property is unsuitable for young and unsupervised children and infirm elderly.

Property Information: OCEAN BLUES in the beautiful and friendly island of Barbados belongs to John and Janice Garrod. It is a fascinating 'sea house' on several levels, well maintained and set uniquely in the sloping rocks of the fashionable West (Platinum) Coast. 'Ocean Blues' is ideal for a party of 8 people; or two wings of the house can be sealed off to provide a 2 bedroom house for 4 people (1 king size bed and one queen size respectively) and two 1-bedroom (4-poster double bed/king size bed respectively) studio apartments each with their own access, shower room, kitchenette and private terraces facing the ocean.

Daily maid service is included (Monday to Friday) and although catering does not form part of the package, arrangements can be made for guests occupying the full property. Among the fascinating features of the house is a spiral stone staircase (with shower) that leads directly from a medieval style turret, to a tiny private cove below the villa. Also a charming roof terrace providing stunning views accessible from the balcony of the master bedroom/guest room.

Terms: A 30% non-refundable deposit is required to secure a booking with the remaining balance due six weeks prior to date of arrival.

Wonderful stay at Ocean Blues

My wife and I stayed in the Downstairs Studio at Ocean Blues in April 2011, to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. We had an excellent time.

The studio itself is lovely. Everything is fashioned out of the white stone and it has great charm. Huge comfy bed, ample bathroom and cute kitchen to make brekfast etc. Then you have 2 double doors that open on to a lovely balcony, overlooking the wonderful Batts Rock Beach and Caribbean Sea. Waking up to that every morning was amazing. The room was clean and well maintained.

The house itself is located perfectly on the West Coast, on a main road, but noise is minimal. Lynn was a lovely caretaker and catered for our every need. We hired a jeep for the day and explored the island, so easy to do. All the West Coast restaurants are easily reached by the local buses, and they are so easy to take. A real experience.

We loved having our own private access to the sea below, that was very special for quick dips when it got too hot or a lovely morning / evening swim. We also swam with the resident baby turtle a few times, which was stunning. Snorkelling was good around the local rocks.

The only thing I would say is that the sun deck may get crowded when the house and studios are full. Luckily we only had 2 other people there during our stay, we it was relatively private.

The plunge pool was lovely and gives great views. We also had a nice BBQ on the deck one night.

We would stay at Ocean Blues again. Its a unique setting, right on the water, and we loved our stay

Many thanks for taking the time to give such a detailed review of Ocean Blues. We are delighted it was a memorable time for such a special occasion.

In response to the observation on the possibility that the sun deck would be crowded if the Whole House was occupied. For 5 months of the year, usually November through to end of April we as owners occupy the main house which has a full size terrace, so we don't use the sun deck area. It is our experience that this scenario would be an extremely rare occurrance if indeed it would ever happen.

We note you may return to Ocean Blues at sometime in the future, so would like to remind you that you will be eligible for our 10% Loyalty Discount, We look forward to seeing you again.

First Timers to Barbados

This is a magical place as its very private and situated on a small bay with its own private access to the ocean. The view is spectacular as its truly an oceanfront property and is ideally situated for watching the breathtaking sunsets. The property is ideal for 4 couples or a family up to 8 as there are three seperate units (2 bedroom villa and two studio units) which can give you total privacy if required. Each unit has its own balcony with the two studio units having their own retractable awnings. The common area has a large sunbathing area and a small "cooling" pool. My wife and I came with friends. We stayed in one of the studio units and our friends (husband, wife and 22 year old daughter) stayed in the 2 bedroom villa). All units are air conditioned and have kitchens with all the utensils and cutlery required for self catering.

The property has a person who cleans the units on a regular basis and she was excellent as not only did a great job cleaning but was very friendly and helpful.

We loved the ability to walk down the steps directly into the ocean. There was a long, sandy beach about a 10 minute swim away (slow breastroke pace) that was great for walks.

The location is aboout a 30 minute drive from the airport and is only 10 minutes from Bridgetown and Holetown which offer excellent shopping and restaurants.

Although the property is on a major road, we did not hear the traffic noise.

Big problem, if you are driving, is trying to find the property. The directions you are given are totally inadequate and their is a very small sign on the property which you cannot see when it becomes dark (after 5:00pm).

Our favorite restaurants were Lonestar, The Muse and Scarlett all in Holetown.

Definately recommend driving to the East Coast of the Island as its very different from the West Coast. More rugged, wind swept and a lot less populated. Another must is walking the pink sands of Crane Beach and checking out the luxurious Crane Resort. Also enjoyed going to the Northern Point of the Island with its high cliffs, crashing surf and taking in the Flower Animal Caves. We stopped at Earth Works pottery factory in the central part of the Island which was very interesting if you like that sort of thing as there are several other artisan shops as well.

Overall, we were very happy with our rental property as it was in a spectacular location and we felt offered excellent value for money.

Lovely location, very private.

The venue was as described and better than expected location. Very private with awesome ocean access.
Provides perfectly for a low activity high relaxation holiday while being in close proximity to "where all the action is".
Non invasive hosts who are extremely friendly and helpful.
Place was recommended by a friend and I will in turn recommend it to others. Highlight is the ocean access in a very private environment and the fun,easy bus commutes to great restaurants. Some of the less famous and less expensive restaurants offer equal quality and much more economical prices and hence overall a more enjoyable experience. Would warn people that there is not a high level of other activity to pursue in walking distance but who cares as it is an ideal relaxation venue!!!!

We stayed at this property in 2005, in the studio, and it is the property we consider others by when we travel.

The studio itself had a comfortable bed, a kitchen a bit on the small side (but reasonably well equipped for all that), and a perfectly serviceable bathroom. The outside deck (accessed through French doors) was unbeatable - generously sized, table there, and a retractable awning.

We also had access down a few steps to a larger deck that was available to the whole house (which could be up to three apartments). From that deck, you stepped onto a spiral staircase that came out to the beach below. Utterly unbeatable location.

I found the owners to be helpful and professional, and would cheerfully deal with them again.

The only things that prevent this from being a 5 star, to us, was the lack of a really comfortable reading chair in the studio, which may matter more to us that it would to others.

Directions from Airport to

Ocean Blues, Batts Rock, Prospect, St James, Barbados. When exiting the airport follow the sign to Spring Gardens. The last roundabout is just passed the University of the West Indies (you can see the ocean at this point). Turn right at round-a-bout and continue for 1/4 mile passed the Esso Filling Station. Ocean Blues is 30 metres passed the Batts Rock Beach Road and directly opposite Crusher Road.
