The Mews has been beautifully converted from a tumbled down barn into a charming, one bedroom cottage and comfortably furnished to a very high standard. It is right next door to Le Chevalier but quietly set back from the road and is a completely separate property with its own entrance and private courtyard. The owners, Juliet and Paul, are wine makers in Australia’s Mornington Peninsula and have created “the kind of cozy bolt hole we have always looked for on our yearly visits to Burgundy. We love being in the center of Puligny Montrachet and so close to the Grand Cru vineyards.” Spring garden and bric-a-brac markets, summer music and wine events, autumn Jazz, Christmas markets and winter wine festivals; there is always something going on no matter what time of the year.
Just across the square, la Boulangerie for your morning croissants, l’Epicerie for daily groceries, Julien’s cool wine bar for aperitifs, the popular village café, a choice of bistros and Le Montrachet, the Michelin starred restaurant; a full range of true French, gastronomic experiences right on your doorstep.
Entering from the gravel courtyard through glass doors, the ground floor is an open plan, living, dining and kitchen space looking out to the Place du Monument. The living area has a big sofa, flat screen TV and i-pod docking station. There is a large round dining table with seating for 4 and a fully equipped kitchen with multi-function oven, microwave, induction hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer and Nespresso coffee machine.
Up the spiral staircase, the large bedroom suite at first floor is spacious and light with views out to the square. It has a queen size bed and ensuite shower room, with walk-in shower wash basin and wc.
Outdoors… step out through glass doors from the living area into the gravel courtyard with outdoor dining for 4. A great place to relax.
50 sq.m + terrace
The Mews is a little gem. It's not big, but is perfect for a couple. It's been beautifully restored and was absolutely immaculate. All the facilities seemed brand new. Very easy check in and out and Sue and David who manage the property came over to see us on our first evening to see if everything was ok. The bottle of welcome fizz in the fridge was most welcome! Puligny Montrachet is a fantastic base and The Mews is very central, with 4 restaurants, Boulangerie and Epicerie all on hand. We tried The Montrachet restaurant one night and it was hard to beat, expensive but the food was fantastic. We loved the property and the location and are looking forward to our next visit!
