29 GREAT HAMPDEN, GREAT MISSENDEN

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Aylesbury Vale - 29 Great Hampden

29 Great Hampden, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire

Just three miles equidistant between the small attractive country towns of Princes Risborough and Great Missenden, and situated on high ground up amongst the beechwood of the beautiful Chiltern Hills, is the picturesque and historic conservation hamlet of Great Hampden – an ideal location to enjoy the Buckinghamshire countryside’s lovely woodlands and walks, the many small villages, its stately homes and great traditional pubs. The Hampden Arms pub is only a minute’s walk away. This is superb but gentle walking country with well-marked paths. Chequers, the Prime Ministerial country estate, is close by, as is Great Missenden, with its curving High Street of half-timbered and Georgian shops and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. Marlow and Henley provide attractive access for riverside walks along the Thames Path, and several National Trust properties are within easy driving distance. There is a fast 40-minute train link into London’s Marylebone Station for those wanting a day out in London. Opposite the cricket green, No 29

Great Hampden is a delightful Victorian semi-detached cottage, approached up a private drive, with views over fields to the rear.

The side entrance leads into the spacious fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and larder, with dining table. Utility room with wc and washing machine. The spacious sitting room has a flat screen TV and DVD. Stairs to the first floor lead to two double bedrooms, one of which is king size, and separate bathroom with over the bath shower.

There is a delightful garden with chairs, deck chairs and table.

UNIQUE PROPERTY IN TRADITIONAL ESTATE VILLAGE

  • 3 out of 5
Great little cottage with two double bedrooms, kitchen, larder, utility/wc, lounge and house bathroom. Well maintained although a few of the windows are difficult to open/close. Warm welcome including details of village facilities pub with wi-fi, village hall, etc. The snecks on the internal wooden doors are predictably noisy, the lounge furniture [seating] is a bit basic and there is no door to isolate the smell of cooking and/or noise of appliances [fridge/freezer] from the hall / 1st floor above. Unfortunately there was a do at the village pub on the Saturday night we were there and the house next door was undergoing renovation, i.e. 2q/3q 2014. Local area of South Bucks offers lots to see and do: country houses, walks, etc. Gardens are a haven for wildlife including muntjac deer and numerous species of birds, e.g. goldfinch. Shame about the noise.we experienced from builders and someone's late night 40th birthday party :-( A unique property in a traditional estate village location.
