Ons appartement bevond zich in een bijgebouw van een 18e eeuwse boerderij. Het bijgebouwtje staat daar al minstens zo lang en dat is er ook aan te zien. Weliswaar straalt het gebouw veel charme uit, maar het minimalistische sanitair en de slecht uitgeruste keuken moet je er wel bijnemen. De grotere appartementen leken mij iets beter in orde te zijn, maar in het algemeen was de staat van de gebouwen voor ons een afknapper. Het zwembad op het domein wordt iedere dag perfect onderhouden door de eigenares en het is er ook heerlijk vertoeven. Ook op de ontvangst en de behulpzaamheid van de eigenares valt niets aan te merken. Ze spreekt een aardig mondje Frans, waardoor het gemakkelijk communiceren is. Zo hebben we ook geen waarborg moeten afgeven bij aankomst, hebben we geen vergoeding moeten betalen voor gas en waren er ook geen kosten voor de eindschoonmaak. Deze zaken zijn verkeerdelijk vermeld op de Belvilla website.

De omgeving is prachtig, het landgoed vervallen maar er is geprobeerd op Italiaanse manier wat van te maken. De eigenaren zijn bijzonder vriendelijk allen de weg van en naar het appartement is niet te doen met een gewone auto. Vanaf de provincialeweg van Volterra naar appartement over een heel smal landweggetje waar je niemand wil tegen komen en die voor meer dan de helft onverhard is vol kuilen en geulen doe je een half uur. Dit staat niet in de beschrijving aangegeven maar wat toch echt een groot nadeel is. Voor alles wat je wilt ondernemen moet je eerst die weg nemen, er is verder helemaal niets in de omgeving. Prijs kwaliteit is hierdoor niet in verhouding.
