It is a very easy and fast drive to Jerez, Cadiz and Seville, all extremely interesting towns with many historic places of interest to visit. Driving out past the spectacular white town of Arcos de la Frontera towards the mountains, you will see many beautiful villages such as El Bosque and Grazelema with clear views and snow in winter months.Cordoba is also within easy reach.

Things to Do: The area is renowned for great windsurfing, body boarding and kite surfing. We have a very good contact for car hire that is slightly cheaper than going through the internet.

The roads throughout the area are excellent and really empty so it very easy to travel around.

Wonderful!

We stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. Location of the apartment is excellent, and it was immaculately clean, and comfortable, with a very well equipped kitchen. Plenty of DVDs and games if you don't feel like going out. Completely quiet at night, which is always a big plus if you're a light sleeper! I think we tried just about every tapas bar in town, all of them within easy walking distance. It's a charming town, quick to get to know, and a really good base from which to explore the region generally. Would definitely recommend this apartment!

We have just returned from two weeks at the apartment and we're both of the opinion that this was one of our best holidays in Spain. The apartment is very comfortable and well appointed. There's absolutely everything that you can think of that you'll need, plenty of towels and bedding, beach bits and bobs, cooking utensils and books, games etc. The area is fascinating and a real mix of the old and new Spain. We took a couple of days in Seville, and day trips to Cadiz and Jerez but mostly enjoyed the amazing beaches and interesting little towns. Vejer has a great selection of little bars and restaurants, as ever, speaking spanish was helpful but not necessary. I think that in comparison with other areas of Spain the drink/food prices are reasonable and you can eat a nice meal for 65 euro for a couple. As other travelers have mentioned parking and driving....we didn't have any problems with either (mainly parking at the car park at the back of the village), and watching the locals drive their large 4x4's through the town proves that there's actually more room than you think. The welcome arrangements from the owners was a nice touch; fruit, water, milk, tea, coffee, etc. so you don't feel you have to rush to the supermarket as soon as you arrive. One word of warning...the cake shop is just that little too close and very, very tempting. We would highly recommend the apartment to anyone who wanted to see this part of Spain.

More than happy.....

  • 4 out of 5
Well, all as described!

Just back from our trip to Vejer! We incorporated a little holiday with the Moto GP weekend at Jerez and although we were not too lucky with the weather we were still able to appreciate just how lovely both Vejer and the surrounding area is, the nearby coastline is absolutely beautiful.

The apartment if very clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. As the photos show it is situated in a pretty courtyard in the heart of the old town, perfect for exploring the labyrinth of streets bursting with restaurants and bars, you are spoilt for choice! Having said that, Vejer somehow manages to still remain quiet and relaxing.

The directions given to and from the airport were excellent, making for a stress free journey both ways. We did not have a problem with parking in Vejer as we used the car park at the foot of the slope near to the apartment, just a short walk away.

Because of the motor racing we only really had three days to enjoy the area, not enough time; just a little taster on this occasion. There is so much more we could have seen and done, we would love to return at another time, hopefully when the sun is shining!

Winter Month in Vejer de la Frontera

  • 5 out of 5
Its 28 February tomorrow and we set off for Santander and home, after a month in Vejer de la Frontera, this quirky, friendly very Spanish little town. We feel that we know the place a bit now, and we can even get to where we are aiming without getting lost too often.

Rosario was waiting when we arrived, and had everything ready. The apartment has everything we need, its so quiet that often the first morning sound we heard was the church clock striking eight o’clock. A month without television was no hardship at all; it made us appreciate the good selection of DVDs and CDs in the cupboard, and even more how good BBC radio programmes can be, listened to through the local V!@pc WIFI network.
.
And we couldn’t be in a better location. Bars and cafes to left and right, the La Exquisita pasteleria with its shelves of appetising goodies just across the road, the market and bread shop down the road in Juan Relinque. And behind us the old historic town walls and gateways. We learned of many of Vejer’s history and traditions from Manual’s walking tour, told in an amusing and interesting way. Well worth it - go the tourist office and ask him if you want one.

Zubr (the dog) came with us on this holiday. His early morning walk, left along Juan Bueno to say ‘good morning‘ to the lady admiring the view, on to Trafalgar and a glimpse of the coast to the south, and often the the hills of Africa, then over to Plaza de Espagna and back home past the castle walls, will make his ‘around the block’ walk in suburban Surrey seem most dull by comparison.

A month here have us the chance to see the many of the interesting places nearby. The historic towns to the north, Cadiz of course, Jerez, Sanlucar and El Puerto de Santa Maria; Conil, with its quaint museum, Barbata, Tarifa and Gibraltar to the south, and the winding mountain road from Alcala (another white town on a hill) through the national park to Ubrique and Arcos. And of course all those lovely wide empty beaches, El Parmar most often, and our favourite, Bolonia. Our one disappointment was to make three attempts to see the cave paintings at Tajo de las Figuras, each time to find them closed, seemingly permanently.

And lastly, the marvellous weather. We smugly listened to the ice and snow hitting the UK, as we sat in the sunshine on the roof terrace eating lunch. Two or three mornings with puffy white clouds, the rest wall to wall blue skies and sunshine. Is this really winter in Andalucía ?

Lovely Holiday Accommodation

  • 5 out of 5
This was our second visit to the apartment and we enjoyed our stay as much as the first time. The apartment is in the old part of Vejer, set back from the street in a pleasant courtyard. It is very clean and has all you need for an enjoyable holiday, including lots of beach paraphernalia and - very importantly - comfortable beds! The roof terrace is perfect for evening drinks after a trip to the beach and a dip or two in the Atlantic waves.

Vejer itself is a very pretty town, and there are several huge sandy beaches 10 to 20 minutes drive away. We also enjoyed trips to Cadiz and Jerez - each about an hour's car journey away. (On the topic of cars, our routine was to park ours in the car park at the entrance to the town and walk the last bit - about 5 minutes. This saved trying to negotiate the narrow winding streets in the old town.)

We're already planning another visit. There's a reasonably good coach service between Vejer and Seville, so we plan to spend a couple of days there next time.

Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive review.

Parking in the car parks does indeed avoid negotiating the narrow streets but we do have other guests who really enjoy the challenge!!
Of course dropping off luggage and beach equipment at the start and end of your holiday is very easy to do directly outside the apartment.

Good all round choice

  • 5 out of 5
I was looking for somewhere to take my Dad as a Birthday treat. And discovered this lovely holiday apartment in the centre of Vejer. It proved to be perfect in every way. We flew in to Gibraltar and picked up a pre-booked hire car just outside the airport. The roads are good, it was virtually all duel carriageway to Vejer, so the whole journey from London was no effort at all, and it was nice to arrive at the apartment feeling relaxed and happy.
The flat is located within the heart of this lovely medieval town; you are spoilt for choice for great café - restaurants and bars. The flat is self contained and was well equipped so self catering was very easy, and it was also very clean. The local supermarkets offered a good all round choice, and the local produce was superb.
The beach is a short drive from the town, and is glorious; if you like miles of golden sand, you’re in for a treat.
The apartment has its own roof garden, which for sun worshippers is heaven; you can hope out of bed, jump upstairs and bake yourself to perfection.
This was a holiday I would (and will) be happy to repeat. For my Father and I it ticked all the boxes.

Vejer is a small perfectly conserved historic hill town surrounded by beautiful countryside and beaches. Its steep, zigzagging streets, whitewashed houses and flower-laden balconies also hide internet cafes, hotels, guesthouses, shops and restaurants, cafes and galleries. You can spend many hours wandering through the narrow streets finding hidden gardens ,beautiful patios, and specutaular views across vast open land. A drink at the windmill bar to watch the sunset out towards the sea, so aptly called 'Bueno Vista' should not be missed. The coastline of Costa de la Luz covers miles and miles of spectacular white sandy beaches. It is within easy reach of several airports and places of interest. Cadiz,Seville,Gibraltar and Acros to name just a few. Bolonia, down the coast towards Tarifa has a Roman town over-looking the sea and spectacular birds of prey up in the hills. A day trip to Morrocco is also a very easy and exciting addition to any holiday. The food shopping in Vejer is excellent

Golf: There are several good golf courses within easy reach of Vejer .
