This pleasant farmhouse is located in the village Maarkedal in the Flemish Ardennes and has the necessary luxury and privacy.
Enjoy the long dark evenings around the open fire or the beautiful summer days in the large English garden. It is an ideal place to relax with the family, friends and of course children who can play here to their heart's content. The unique garden (3000m2) has a spacious terrace, an orchard and a swimming pond with open views on the surrounding hills.
Maarkedal offers many possibilities to go walking, cycling or play golf. Go for a romantic walk along the Leon Piron path for example. This hilly path was named after a painter who liked to come here. Art lovers will be happy here. The driven landlady is an artist through and through. Both the region and the house have a long artistic tradition she can tell you all about.
This is an ideal place for cyclists to indulge in their hobby and the annual Ronde van Vlaanderen cycling competition passes through here too.
The region also counts numerous diversified restaurants and bistros where cosiness is omnipresent. The Flemish Ardennes have remained a natural gem and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy to the full and going back home completely rested. The tourist assets of the region are the open, gently sloping landscape with unique panoramas, the many picturesque village centres, the winding cobbled roads, the rows of willows, many hollow paths and cultural towns.
If you like tranquillity, culture, nature and the outdoor life this is the ideal holiday home for you!

We thoroughly enjoyed the Bakkerbos property. It's so well-maintained, pretty &amp quiet. Alain &amp Isabelle are friendly &amp helpful. It's about a 45+ drive to Bruges, Ghent &amp Brussels, so you can make day trips to many locales. Tournai is also nearby plus Oudenaarde (the closest town) is very nice as well. There is a bike route right outside the door. Good restaurants nearby, especially the one very close by in the little town of Neukirk(?)
We had a problem with the hot water, but it was handled as expeditiously as possible.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property.
Delicious quieted, the bathroom and kitchen could be better. Very nice owner.
We have been a week, from mid June. The peace and quiet around the house has pleased us well. The setting is beautiful, and the garden we had a beautiful view, enhanced by the beautiful weather. We were here with our son more than two months as a brand new family and we could well come to rest. The towns in the area are worth visiting, such as Oudenaarde, Ronse and Grammont. Nature can explore on foot or bicycle. I myself have a lot of cycling and different (signposted) routes driven, known from the Tour of Flanders. Sufficient cobbled roads in the neighborhood! R nIn the house everything looks neat and everything seems to be well maintained. We were talking about the bathroom, because you can not shower there (actually just sitting in the bath). Well less Nice bathe of course, but that is on the small side. The sink is on the small side, it looks more like a toilet basin. The bathroom is therefore compared to the rest of the house quite a bummer. We also felt very soft mattresses. Whether that is the type of mattress that saggy mattresses that is not totally clear to us that week. R nKortom A beautiful house in a beautiful and peaceful setting with a few downsides.
The holiday house with its garden is of exceptional quality. R nThe interior of the house was certainly not standard, but executed with great taste. R nThe house was clean and adequately equipped. R nThe garden was also very special called, nicely landscaped, large enough and even with a swimming pond. r nIf with the right bike is a beautiful area for cycling tours (some hilly)
