Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday villa in Falmouth - Tregarthen
Located In A Peaceful Spot Yet With A Charming Beach And A Great Pub Nearby
Tregarthen is located on the northern bank of the Helford River, from its windows you look out across the river and are spoilt one of the most peaceful and beautiful views in the UK. A stone’s throw from the beach, this is the holiday house you have always dreamed of.
With the capacity to sleep ten, Tregarthen is ideal for families wanting to come to Cornwall to enjoy the sun and the sea. Situated in the picturesque village of Helford Passage it will feel like you have stepped back to a time long forgotten by the 21st century as you gaze from the houses patio windows out across the river.
Tregarthen has been built around its private outdoor swimming pool (available May to September); because of this the kitchen and main bedrooms are on the first floor, whilst there is a double and twin room downstairs. The second sitting room has large patio windows which overlook the pool and allow the evening sun to light up the room late into the evening. There is a flat screen TV and good DVD and book collection for evenings in too. On the ground floor there is also a second bathroom and utility room.
Upstairs the kitchen is big and has all of the mod cons and utilities you would expect of a property of this quality. There are granite worktops, an American style fridge freezer and range oven. This flows into the dining area with dining table for big dinners and again into a further sitting room with corner sofa and patio windows which you can walk out of and take in the stunning view. The three first floor bedrooms are all doubles with their own en-suite. The master bedroom has a six foot Egyptian style bed and the en-suite has a huge walk in shower and two separate marble basins. The two other bedrooms each have five foot beds, are beautifully decorated and the en-suites are luxurious. All of the bedrooms have views out across the river.
The beach is roughly a minute walk and is a delightful haven for swimming; it also has very good skimmers! At the top of the beach is the Ferryboat Inn, a pub packed with 300 years of history. Today it offers all of the finest local seasonal produce, as well as a good selection of ales and wines. A small passenger ferry runs off the beach which takes you to across the river to Helford Village. From here you can walk to Frenchman’s Creek, the inspiration for Daphne Du Mauriers book.
On the northern bank are the beautiful gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. Two of the most unique and stunning horticultural collections in the UK. You are about a fifteen minute drive from the bustling port of Falmouth and about forty minutes from the north coast for the surfers. Tregarthen is picturesque, luxurious and beautiful. You will not want to leave and will be planning next year’s stay before the car has left the drive.
