Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Minchinhampton - Hillcrest Cottage

Upstairs balcony with STUNNING VIEWS & from all rooms- sleeps 4, BBQ terracee

The VIEWS are truly STUNNING by day and by night, and the cottage is lovely too...' one of those places which stay in your memories for ever'.... the main bedroom is large with a white corner sofa looking out onto the balcony and down the Golden Valley... 'so amazing!'

The main bedroom is lovely with kingsize bed and pocket sprung mattress,it looks out onto the balcony and the AMAZING VIEWS.

The second bedroom is more cottage style with twin beds and pocket sprung mattresses, smaller, but has amazing views too. Bathroom has bath with over shower is 'not large but perfectly formed !'

Downstairs is semi open plan. The lounge has a log burner( full central heating throughout) but the kitchen and dining area is so socialable that it is a pleasure to cook while being part of the party. There is an 'everhot' cooker which is so easy to use ( like a mini aga but I show you how to use it, when I welcome you in...) as Sunday is roast - perfect!

Double doors from lounge and double doors from dining room and the front door open out onto the well maintained garden and the fabulous views but then you drop down to a BBQ terrace with garden furniture etc ..great for morning coffee while planning your day. There is garden lighting and as darkness falls the sparkling lights in the distance are truly magical.

The area ,known as 'the undiscovered Cotswolds' has so much to offer... There is genuinely so much to do and see .

The cottage is well equipped including wifi , microwave , dishwasher, washing machine, fondu set, iron and ironing board, hair drier, travel cot without bedding, steam sterilizer etc but if you have special requirement ,please ask as it may be there already or we can supply it for your stay.

There is driveway parking outside our cottage next door. We have a lovely friendly puppy dog who loves children and semi free range chickens who love visiting our guests when allowed....

About Tricia Prince

I have been a designer of home products for major retailers after studying textile design at uni. Moved next to the holiday cottage 10 years ago and wished I had moved here years ago. I love helping people to discover the area and therefore to get the most out of their stay. My family are sociable but discreet , if you need us -we are here. We have made friends with guests who have ,subsequently moved here from as far away as Perth,Australia.

I also have a business Cotswolds Vintage Party Hire supplying vintage props for weddings and special events throughout central /southern uk

Tricia Prince purchased this cottage in 2004

Guestbook comments from the manager

"Stunning views, beautiful comfortable cosy cottage, and the host provides a wealth of information to make the most of your stay."

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in the Cotswolds and coming 'home' to the cottage every evening. The cottage is located well with panoramic views over the valley towards Stroud.

The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for a stay home from home and the log burner make for a cosy warm cottage.

Our two and half year old especially enjoyed the box of soft toys in the lounge and the cuddly doggies in his bedroom! "

Highly recommend Hillcrest.

STUNNING VIEWS, by any ones standards, from this Cotswolds stone cottage make it hard to leave every day, but the area has so much to offer.

The Award winning farmers market provides local organic products and is a must on Saturday mornings. If you dont want to cook we have an excellent choice of great eating out within 3 miles - I provide plenty of advice to help you chose including those with open fires.

Close by is Berkerkey Castle ,( not far from Slimbridge Wild Fowl Park ), Gloucester Cathedral where some of Harry Potter was filmed.

The 5 valleys converging on Stroud provide brilliant thermals if you want to try gliding, paragliding, or hotair ballooning, flying high over the cottages. There are two gliding clubs within 5 miles.

Gatcombe Park and Badminton , home to some key equestrian eventing are just 2 and 8 miles away.

We have excellent riding stables too, for a lesson or a hack on 300 acres of private land.

Tennis is close by, indoor and outdoor swimming just 2 miles away, a good cinema with comfy seats and 10 pin bowling.

It is a very arty area full of interesting people who help devise the food, music, film, arts and textiles festivals. There is always some thing going on.

But for walkers and ramblers....you will be totally spoilt and set off from the cottages, taking in spectacular views , award winning local ice cream, and lovely pubs ...2 of my walks are listed in the cottages so you just take a sheet and go....

For the vintage bargain hunter, we have antique shops galore (15 minutes away in Tetbury) , but auctions and boot fairs too...

Try a lazy Sunday afternoon 'Picnic at Polo', where matches are played in a gorgeous setting, just 10 minutes away....picnic baskets and foldaway chairs in the cottage.

Painswick, Minchinhampton ,Nailsworth, Tetbury, Cirencester Cheltenham, Gloucester are all close by . Bath is only 35 minutes by car.

We are happy to help make recommendations, so you get the most out of your stay, please dont hesitate to ask.
