Residence Les Pins 3 can sleep up to 6 and is excellently located between Chatel centre (600m) and the ski area of Linga (700m). Ski buses pass behind the building and along the road down the hill in front of the apartment. You can ski back to the apartment when snow levels permit! The new building is built to the highest standards and has been 3 star classified by the tourist board. The apartment has a modern galley kitchen fully equipped with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, cooker and hob. There are two bedrooms; one double room and one twin room, both have beautiful views of the mountains. The bathroom has a bath/shower fitted and a separate WC. In the living/dining area there is a dining table that seats up to 6 and a large comfortable sofa which converts into a sofa bed for two. This room leads out through patio doors onto a private garden terrace that has stunning panoramic views of the mountains and valley. The whole apartment has underfloor heating which keeps it at a lovely constant warm temperature throughout the winter. There is a private garage located at the back of the building and a ski locker at the main entrance. Wi-fi is also available. NEW to Winter 2014 is the lift between Super Chatel and Linga opening up the local slopes and whole region even more.

Great accommodation in perfect location.

I stayed here with some friends in early March and will definitely be keen to return.

The apartment is brilliantly located only a short 10 min walk to Linga which opens up to the rest of the massive Portes du Soleil ski area. Regular shuttle buses also run from close to the apartment to the other nearby lifts, including Super Chatel and Pre la Joux.

The cracking little alpine village of Chatel is a 5/10 minute walk in the other direction which is well stocked with a number of great restaurants, cafes and bars as well as the usual choice of supermarkets and ATMs. The apartment had everything we needed (including WiFi), was very comfortable and had great views of the valley below. It also opens up straight onto the nursery slopes from the living room which would be perfect for little ones or for sitting outside during the summer.

Awesome location, amazing trip

We hired this apartment for our annual ski trip and it suited us down to the ground. Lots of space inside, good facilities, amazing views and in a really good location. The apartment is close enough to walk to both town and the main ski-lifts at Linga or if you wanted to get the bus it is really close to the stops for buses going in either direction.

Chatel village has plenty of choices for eating and drinking and the range of skiing was excellent. We will definitely be going back next year.

Great views from a lovely apartment.

I stayed here with my 5 year old twins and found the flat to be very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The views up and down the valley are beautiful and the location very convenient for local skiing. The kids had daily lessons at Pre La Joux which was 5-10 mins drive away. All as advertised. The only thing missing, from the kids point of view in particular, was UK television, but luckily we'd brought some DVDs with us. Liz was very helpful and informative and the place well managed.

Excellent Ski Chalet in Chatel

This is an excellent chalet in a great location. It is a 1 min walk away from the bus stop to get to the ski lifts, or only a 10 min walk to the lifts themselves. Located half way between the lifts at the foot of Super Chatel or Linga it gives you the option at starting off at a different points. The chalet is comfortable with a great lounge area and having wifi is really useful. If you have young kids there is also a nursery slope just opposite. Chatel also has some great bars and restaurants. I can't recommend this place enough. I will definitely use it again!

The apartment is really delightful!

We had a fabulous four day break in Chatel and were impressed with the standard of the interior and fittings in the apartment.The views are exceptional. The free bus which stops close by was a brilliant way to get to the village or ski lifts and took only a few minutes. We can recommend both the restaurants we used La Pierrier and La Fiacre. There is also a a selections of bars and cafés in the village. We are looking forward to our next visit either in the summer or next winter.

Châtel is positioned on the border of France and Switzerland and is in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Comprising 12 linked resorts on either side of the border and 650km of pisted runs and snowparks the Portes du Soleil is the largest linked ski domain in Europe. From Châtel you can directly access and ski between the resorts of Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Morgins, Champéry and more. If you're someone who enjoys a full day of skiing it is possible to start your day in Chatel and do a full circle of the area without doing the same run twice. Winter 2014/5 season also sees the opening of the new lift connecting Super Chatel with Linga making the local slopes and region even more accessible.

The ski area enjoys exceptionally good snowfall from mid-November to the end of April, with an average of 7m83 of powder every year.

The Portes du Soleil ski area is open from 20th December 2014 to 27th April 2015.

In France in the morning, in Switzerland in the afternoon! With the Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc in your sights you are in Châtel, from where you can enjoy the incredible skiing of the Portes du Soleil, the largest cross-border ski area in the world.

Châtel is a charming Alpine village in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area. It lies on the border of France and Switzerland and is full of rustic charm. The lively village is full of traditional style chalets and hotels and is truly picturesque. Chatel has a lively village centre with a wealth of activities for everyone to enjoy. Traditional Savoyard style restaurants line the main street in the village and there is a plentiful supply of bars for those interested in some après ski entertainment. There are even a couple of nightclubs in town that will see you through to the small hours! Banks and supermarkets are also available in town.

As well as the plentiful skiing on your doorstop you can also enjoy some outdoor skating at Lac Vonnes, dog-sledding, snow-shoe excursions or the bob-luge at Pre la Joux. If that all sounds a little too energetic then you could head down the valley and relax your aching muscles at the hot springs at Lavey les Bains.

The area is surrounded by beautiful and inspiring mountain vistas, from the local ranges of the Dents du Midi and Dents Blanches, down to Lake Geneva. Further to the south the majestic summit of Mont Blanc dominates the horizon.

Located between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, Châtel is just 20 minutes from the Swiss motorways, 1 1/4 hours from Geneva International Airport and 45 minutes form Thonon-les-Bains railway station in France and 35 minutes from Aigle railway station in Switzerland. In the winter 2014/15 season there is a new bus shuttle operating every Saturday between Aigle railway station and Chatel village.

There is also a new Eurostar service operating from London St Pancras to Geneva -this connects with a train from Geneva airport to Aigle and the bew shuttle bus from Aigle to Chatel.
