In association with Trinity House, Rural Retreats is pleased to present four refurbished former lighthouse keepers' cottages in North Devon. Bull Point Lighthouse is just outside of Mortehoe in North Devon and the site comprises four self catering cottages - Warden, Siren, Triton, and Sherrin. Mortehoe is a very pretty village with good pubs and restaurants, fish and chips, stores and delicatessen.
Places to visit include Woolacombe with its 'blue flag' sandy beach which is only a 10-minute drive from Bull Point. The perimeter of the site is fully fenced and gated but once outside this area, it is very dangerous for children staying at the holiday cottage. Strict supervision at all times is required, as not all guests will remember to keep the gate closed and locked.
This lighthouse does not have a fog signal. Country access roads to some of the lighthouse sites are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.
Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.
