Guestbook comments from the owner

The Sun it rose and warmed us; what a sight!

Its rays the fields they painted within a golden light!

The Roe deer browsing the hedgerow warming their flanks

almost as though they were giving thanks.

We sat and viewed such a glorious scene

from the lounge of one of the nicest places we have ever been.

The Old Dairy is such a peaceful, restful place

And Jane the host does welcome with such warmth and grace.

Our heartfelt thanks for such a lens from which to view

such a peaceful world as we reclined and enjoyed a brew!

A lovely poem for our guest book, thank you Chris and Ruth

Fantastic property

  • 5 out of 5
My husband and I have just spent a week at the Old Dairy and couldn’t have asked for more!

The Old Dairy has been renovated to a very high standard, and will be hard to beat. It is bright and airy, and the fantastic full height window provides you with uninterrupted views of the fields beyond, even from your bed!

The welcome treats of Victoria sponge cake, scones, jam and clotted cream were lovely and delicious!

The property is very well situated, and within walking distance of the Countryman Inn Pub – a great pub that was recommended by Jane, good food, beer and wine.

Jane has a wide range of maps, and leaflets available which we made full use of – we walked to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door from the Dairy, visited Ringsted Bay, Studland Beach, Swanage, and enjoyed a lovely coastal walk from Langton Maltravers to Swanage on our last day. Corfe Castle is also just a short drive away.

We enjoyed using the outside patio area with views of the fields, feeding the chickens, and watching the rabbits early evening. We were also lucky enough to see three deer one evening.

Jane and Martin were great hosts, and welcomed us on arrival.

We loved it so much we rebooked while we were there.

Thanks again, and see you next year !

Amazing property for our honeymoon!

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed here for our honeymoon and wow what can we say. It's most definitely the best holiday home we have ever stayed in. Jane really has everything spot on. It is exceptionally kitted out for all your needs. Everything in The Old Dairy is perfect and spotless and it literally has everything you could possibly need with lots of little extras including dish washer, washing machine, ironing board and more. The kitchen is very well equipped. The location is fabulous near to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door with it's clear blue waters and amazing jurassic coastline. The Old Dairy itself has magnificent views across the country. The welcoming hamper on arrival with homemade scones and cake went down a treat and there was even milk tea and coffee left for us! It honestly is a fabulous place and we are so grateful to Jane for a fabulous honeymoon. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Old Dairy and would definitely stay here again.

Excellent! A wonderfully relaxing place to stay.

  • 5 out of 5
The Old Dairy has been converted to the highest standard with very good taste. We found it very clean and tidy and it has all the facilities one would want. It is in a lovely part of the country with walks, the coast, good restaurants and pubs etc, all easily accessible. We would recommend it as a fine place to stay in any season.

Dorset, Lulworth and the Purbecks

With its clean air, sweeping coastal paths, breath-taking views and snug little villages The Old Dairy is a perfect location for a holiday. The local town of Dorchester is teeming with restaurants and shops to explore, Dorset is a county hard to beat.

Dorset is famous for its beautiful coastline, the Jurassic Coast, which features landforms such as Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Kimmeridge. The Isles of Purbeck and Portland along with Chesil Beach and Lyme Regis are all within easy reach.

Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are a mere 3.5 miles away. As part of Dorset's Jurassic Coast they form a stunning stretch of 200 million-year-old shoreline that has been designated a Natural World Heritage Site due to its extraordinary geological make-up. This coupled with the charming countryside Dorset has to offer makes this county an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

There is more to Dorset than just fabulous rural scenery – the more urban towns of Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth offer sandy beaches and harbours renowned for their water sports, bustling town centres with restaurants, cafes, art galleries and theatres.

Dorset is steeped in history and is the setting of the novels of Thomas Hardy, who was born near the county town of Dorchester. Local historic attractions also include Castles in nearby Lulworth and Corfe with the iron age Hill Fort of Maiden Castle situated on the outskirts of Dorchester.

The location of The Old Dairy is ideal for those that wish to explore. There are plenty of Coastal, Forest and Heathland walks or cycle tracks within easy reach. The Old Dairy has an abundance of wildlife, flora and fauna on its doorstep.

Winfrith Newburgh has a friendly village store and post office along with three welcoming pubs nearby. It is just three miles from the Jurassic Coast, eight miles from the county town of Dorchester and 18 miles from the popular towns of Poole and Bournemouth.

Dorset is home to a wealth of attractions; Corfe Castle, Monkey World, Blue Pool, the Tank Museum, the Cerne Abbas Giant, Swanage Railway, Sherborne Abbey, Portland Bill, Fly- Fishing in Tolpuddle and a whole lot more.

There are many coves and beaches along the Dorset coast - a World Heritage site. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are just 3.5 miles away and Studland Bay which is renowned for its wonderful beaches is a 30 minute car ride.

The unspoilt countryside, dramatic coastline and spectacular historic sites make our county truly memorable for a winter or summer holiday.
