Part of a brand new building that houses only four apartments in total, this one bedroom property is an ideal option for a couple. A stay in this apartment offers guests the opportunity to stay in one of the best locations in Valencia. The apartment is located on a pedestrianized street (keeping traffic noise to a minimum) and is right on the doorstep of the city’s famous Cathedral. Straddling two of the most historic and atmospheric neighbourhoods in the city - El Carmen and Ciutat Vella – staying here allows guests to explore many of Valencia’s most famous sights and attractions on foot, including the Mercado Central and the Lonja de Seda, both of which can be reached in under five minutes . El Carmen is a maze of winding, narrow streets, and is home to many of the city’s best tabernas and restaurants, making it the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely tapeo in the evening. Good transport links nearby give easy access to the beach, the airport and the modern City of Arts and Sciences, meaning guests can experience the whole city easily. The apartment itself is exterior-facing, and has two small French balconies that look out onto the street, allowing guests to observe the hustle and bustle of daily Spanish life below, and giving great views of the Cathedral and the Micalet. The living room has been furnished and decorated in a contemporary style, with original artwork on the walls, and designer sofas and light fittings, as well as a unique Chinese-style bar. The kitchen is partially separated from the living room, and comes fully equipped with everything guests may need during their stay. Climbing a small staircase with a hand-made original railing, you reach the second living room which contains a sofa bed (perfect for children or guests) and plenty of storage space. It must be noted that the second living room and sofa bed area is en-route to the master bedroom, and therefore does not afford much privacy. The master bedroom is in keeping with the rest of the apartment in style and décor, and comes complete with en-suite bathroom. A second shower room is located just opposite the bedroom for added convenience. This apartment is found in the same building as the other Micalet properties on the Spain Select books, and therefore is a great option for families or groups who want to book separate apartments whilst staying in the same vicinity. Surface area: 75m2. First floor with lift. Entrance leads into an open plan living room with 3 French windows with views of the pedestrian street and the cathedral. The living area is furnished with one 3-seater sofa, a square black coffee table, a Chinese cupboard that serves as bar and two chairs. Discreet Flat screen TV on the wall opposite the sofa. The fully equipped kitchen is equipped with fridge, freezer, 4-ring ceramic hob, dishwasher, oven and microwave, washing machine with dryer. There is a second living area accessed by stairs. This area contains a sofa bed, coffee table, 2 chairs and cupboard space. From this area you access the bedroom (1.60m x 1.90m) with fitted wardrobe and en suite bathroom with walk in shower and you access the second bathroom with shower. Please note the floors of the apartment are stone with a shiny finish.
Nicely furnished apartment. However I have a number of issues with the management co. First the pictures indicate the apartment is larger then it really is. Pictures seem to indicate it is on the main square. It is on a side street. It is next to the cathedral (they ring the bells quite often) and a great location to walk all of the old city. The kitchen could use a few more utensils and dishes.
The Queen beds are short, not a normal length. Even at that you can barely side shuffle past the foot of the bed in bedroom #2. No mattress cover on new mattress. The towels are far from luxurious and one towel per occupant for a week is ridiculous. Since the washer is not very efficient, a second set of sheets per bed should be left on a 7 day rental.
We had difficulty meeting the agent. Said she was someplace she was not and finally arrived half hour late. When we asked about the operation of the appliances, she was not fully aware of how to use them and so gave us the manufacturer instruction booklet with a figure it out. Not good.
The nearest car park is a ridiculous $50 per night. Other agents of nearby apartments have negotiated reduced rates for their customers at nearby parking.
