At the heart of the old Jewish quarter of Seville's historic Santa Cruz, we find this elegant property surrounded by beautiful churches and traditional buildings, real treasures of Seville history: Santa María la Blanca (s XIII), El Convento of the Dominican Sisters (s XVI), La Candelaria Church and the Jardines de Murillo are immediate neighbors, and only 5 minutes walk to reach the Giralda and Cathedral. The apartment is located in a former palace of the seventeenth century, expanded in the nineteenth century and completely restored in 1992 by renowned architect Rafael Manzano, Richard H. prize Driehaus 2010 Classical Architecture. This home features a spectacular and traditional Andalusian courtyard dominated by a central fountain, marble floor and surrounded by elegant Roman columns. Located on the second floor of this typical Sevillian house, the property has three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a spacious veranda and a large private terrace on the roof of the house. The interior is fresh and elegantly decorated. The living room is dominated by an open space with a large sofa and a dining table for six.  Both three comfortable bedrooms and the living room facing the courtyard, which besides guaranteeing beautiful views, can keep the house cool during the warmer months. The kitchen is fully equipped. Guests will also enjoy the common areas, including a large terrace with views of the Giralda and laundry area with washer and dryer. For larger groups can combine Palacio Casa San Jose I with Casa Palacio San Jose III or rooms in the courtyard. The property also has a garage on request only for small cars. Surface: 120m2 + 55m2 private terrace + 100m2 communal terrace. Second floor. The property is accessed through a series of courtyards. The entrance leads into the kitchen which is fully equipped and the living room of 24m2 is furnished with a large sofa, large dresser, dining table and chairs for 6 people.    In the background has a toilet. From the living room there is access to one of the bedrooms with double bed (1.35 x 1.90m). The other two bedrooms are accessed from the terrace-gallery overlooking the courtyard and equipped with an outdoor table and two chairs. These bedrooms have two single beds (0.90 x 1.90m). All bedrooms are en suite with bath and fitted wardrobes. The washer and dryer are in the common area, which is shared with two other houses, since there is also access to a large communal covered terrace (100 m2).

A delightful stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - two couples - and the location was very atmospheric and perfect for exploring Seville, going out for coffee or a drink and walking home after dinner.

We received a warm welcome from Aldo (and family) and the check-in and check-out was easy with our luggage stored until we were ready to go up to the apartment on the first day and leave on the last.

The only thing I would mention is that prospective renters should read the details carefully: they are accurate but perhaps not altogether clear at first glance. Many of the photos are of the shared roof terrace or entrance patio - very pretty but not actually within the apartment. It might be easy to think these were for your exclusive use. That said, we enjoyed the rooftop view and a drink upstairs on most evenings and the entrance was impressive and very typical of Seville. Also the second and third bedrooms are reached from the living room by a balcony: this is mentioned in the description and wouldn't be a problem unless you had small children you were expecting to be adjacent. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. There are currently no photographs of these other bedrooms which both have single beds. The living room has a small sofa and one comfortable chair and the dining table seats four. So perfect for spending most of the time out, but might be a bit cosy for six adults. But then why would you eat at home in Seville??

Overall we were very pleased with the apartment and would recommend this unreservedly to friends looking for an atmospheric place to stay right in the centre.
