Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Chiswick & Hounslow - Grosvenor Road
2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Home With Space
West london is where the smart set go to make their homes. Close to the action and well-connected to the rest of town, there’s nonetheless a sense of space here that just can’t be found anywhere else in the city. Perhaps it’s the close proximity to the thames, or maybe it’s the acres of protected grassland, but chiswick feels like the country come to town.
Amidst this sits grosvenor road, a bachelor pad owned by a young film-maker, this is shabby chic with a masculine twist. With plenty of space, bags of style and some nifty finishing touches, here’s a home that pretty much sells itself…
Your host is something of a trendsetter. By day he’s down in shoreditch, a producer at one of the hottest ad agencies in town, but don’t think he’s all style and no substance. The weekends find him walking in kew gardens, tending his own flowerbeds, or curled up on the sofa with one of his many, many good books.
In its spare time grosvenor road is used as a location for films and adverts, and having starred in a number, it’s easy to see why. The large open plan living space is funky and fun- think original cornicing, fireplace and floorboards, topped off with a dash of the nineteen fifties flair. Everything has a story to tell, from the light fittings, which have been fashioned from salvaged wood, to the glowing glass atop the bookcases. Take a hardback for a swing on the rocking chair, or start cooking in the modern kitchen; you can eat at the groovy breakfast bar, or next door in the quirky dining room.
Go out for a sniff of fresh air in the mature garden, or jump into the tub in the minty green bathroom. The guest double is simple in white, with antique furniture and a rather excellent black radiator, while the dual aspect master is large and restful. So lie back on your luxury bed linen, close your eyes on the model boat at your feet, and sail away to dreamland.
Chiswick’s all about the river, so whether you’re strolling the towpath or supping a pint in the shadow of barnes bridge, you’ll feel right at home. Stock up at the weekly farmers’ market, spot the deer that wander richmond park, or eat out in one of nearby turnham green’s many excellent restaurants. You’re just twenty minutes from heathrow, or, if you need to get into town, just hop onto the tube. You can be at piccadilly circus in less than half an hour.
