Every choir has its star soloist and, in lennox gardens iii, we fancy we’ve found london’s. In a mansion block of red brick, this top-floor home hits the high notes and then some. Whether you’re applauding its light palette or waltzing soundlessly across the carpets of soft cream, every single corner echoes with elegance. There’s a contemporary flair to its bookcases, its sofas and its artwork; a classiness to its communal gardens, blooms of flowers and four-poster bed. And when you consider the balcony, the tremendous roof terrace and the celebrated splendour that is knightsbridge’s shopping, you’ll appreciate this is one performance that never plays out.
Your host is rather handy with a cello, having played in orchestras for thirteen years. These days she works in finance, developing and styling hotels.
On one of knightsbridge’s most exclusive garden squares, this home will have you quickly singing its praises. Step up to the top floor of this mansion block and into the light, elegant sitting room. Here the walls are white, the carpet cream and the sofas low and slouchy. Pluck a book from the shelves and flump down, or pour yourself a glass and eye up the modern artwork, the leafy view or your host’s cherished cello. Once you’ve rustled up dinner in the smart kitchen dine at the eye-catchingly chic table.
You’ve a cosy study with a sofabed, in which to exercise the brain or soothe it with some widescreen tv, as well as two charming bedrooms. The master has an angular four-poster, eastern flourishes and dusky furniture, the double airy-bright walls and a double bed in deep velvet. But before it’s time to bid goodnight, you might take a nightcap on the long, alluring balcony, salute the stars on the spacious roof terrace or go for a soothing wallow in the bathroom.
All may appear quiet outside your door, but nearby brompton road rings with cash registers and fabulous designer footsteps. Not only have you harrods and harvey nics, but the ever-so-tempting boutiques of sloane street, too. Throw yourself down on the sloping lawns of hyde park, see south kensington’s eye-opening museums or hear the classics impeccably performed at the royal albert hall. As for the west end, the tube from sloane square to oxford circus takes around ten minutes.
