About Glyn West

We are Glyn and Elizabeth West from Great Ayton, North Yorkshire. We have two children Joseph and Thomas. We both grew up locally and met at University. This is our holiday home that we share with you.

Glyn West purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Glyn West chose Penrith

We purchased this cottage in October 2011 and spent 18 months refurbishing it, a real labour of love with attention to detail. We use the cottage ourselves around bookings, our weekend retreat in a rural peaceful setting.

What makes this cottage unique

Set in it own grounds the woodland with it's babbling stream, make the place perfect to relax, giving the children freedom to run free and enjoy the outdoors.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Absolutely fantastic 10/10!

  • 5 of 5

Me and the family stayed here for a week, and we could not fault it. We were greeted as we arrived by Glyn, who was very hospitable and helpful. The Cottage was astounding, absolutely pristine, even the log burner was clean as a whistle! The beds were comfy enough to stay in all day if you wish, the house was nice and warm with lovely window views of the grounds. All of the rooms were well presented with plenty of space, and the Kitchen was equipped with everything you would need!

The little one loved playing in the garden , and loved exploring the woods too! the perfect place for us to relax and unwind, while at the same time close enough to plenty of locations to get out and do stuff. Overall i could not recommend this cottage highly enough, it was perfect in every way, and we wouldnt hesitate to book again!

10/10 A+++! 5*

Thanks again Glyn :)

Perfect!

We've just returned from a lovely weekend in Woodland View, our first holiday with toddler in tow. We couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay! The cottage is immaculate and surroundings beautiful - our little boy loved exploring the garden and woodland. Will most definitely be back!

Pefect

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful holiday cottage. Immaculate with every attention detail. Beautiful woodland location - our 6 and 4 year olds loved exploring the enclosed woods. Cosy log fire. Perfect for families and couples looking for a romantic getaway. Ideal base for exploring the lakes and lots of activities for kids within very short driving distance.

Hospitality at its best

  • 5 of 5

This is quite simply a wonderful property. It has been beautifully refurbished, exquisitely designed and is superbly maintained. Everything you need works perfectly; everything you look at screams attention to detail. From the comfort of the beds, the opulence of the bathroom, to the spacious living area, the inviting fire, and the incredible woodland area in the back garden, an adventure holiday in itself, it is quite simply the most welcoming, homely place we have ever stayed.

That's just the house. We were lucky enough to meet Glyn and Liz and his wonderful family. They are even more hospitable than the house itself. They put together all the little touches around the place, and they make you feel incredibly welcome. I can honestly say my daughter was very sorry to see them leave, as were we.

Thank you so much for allowing us to spend time in your house, and in your company. We will be back!

Romantic stay 15-22 February 2014

  • 5 of 5

I booked this for my husband's birthday treat and it certainly didn't disappoint. It was everything it claimed to be and more. We arrived to a welcome bottle of wine and chocolates which were a lovey surprise. The cottage was tastefully furnished and very cosy. We spent romantic evenings relaxing in front of the log burning fire. There was a generous supply of logs for burning. The setting and location make this a perfect away from it all holiday but with places of interest within easy driving distance. We would highly recommend a stay at this cottage and will definitely use it again if we return to the area. This is among one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Excellent value for money and a perfect retreat in lovely surroundings
