Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Portland - Wavecrest
Three bedroom, two bathroom house with space to relax or entertain
Wavecrest is in the village of Fortuneswell, overlooking Chesil Beach and close to the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy and Windsurfing Centre. Perfectly located for sailors, windsurfers, divers, walkers and cyclists with storage for boards, sails, bikes and wetsuits as well as a 72 hour free car park just across the road.
Our Grade II listed home on the Fortuneswell main road is one of the oldest in the village, built around 1820 from local Portland stone. Now a comfortable and cosy home with plenty of space for guests to relax, it has a large living room, eat-in kitchen, dining area for up to 10 people, three bedrooms, bathroom, shower room and a large, chill-out loft space.
On the ground floor is a hall, large living room with comfy sofas and TV and a fully equipped eat-in kitchen with dishwasher, microwave oven and griller.
There are three bedrooms - the master bedroom with a king size double and the other two with twin beds - and a family bathroom on the first floor. A loft ladder from one of the twin bedrooms leads up to a large chill-out space with books, bean bags and additional air beds.
At basement level there is a large dining area with a sofa bed, drinks fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, and a shower room.
Just outside the stable door leading to a shared courtyard is a secure storage area with a washing machine and tumble drier for guests to use as well as a dehumidifier and extractor fan to ensure a dry start in the morning. There is also space to store windsurfing, diving and other sports equipment including bikes.

About Christiane Morris
I already have two holiday homes in Malta where I grew up so am a seasoned owner but I bought my Fortuneswell house with an eye to the future. My son, Jamie Drummond, is a ranked UK's freestyle windsurfer. He works for specialist windsurfing holiday company, Ocean Elements, in Greece but is a key player in the UK windsurfing industry - teaching and competing in Portland Harbour, giving Masterclasses, testing sails and boards for leading manufacturing, writing articles for the windsurfing websites and blogging on his worldwide windsurfing exploits.
Together we aim to offer a comfortable, 'home from home' base for the sailing community and other guests when visiting Weymouth and Portland for competitive events or holidays.
Christiane Morris purchased this house in 2013
Why Christiane Morris chose Portland
Jamie visited the house before me and thought its space would work well for both families and groups of watersports enthusiasts who would welcome the four storey layout, the secure storage and the 72 hour free car park for their vehicles - not to mention its proximity to the National Sailing Academy and Windsurfing Training Centre. I just loved the feel of the house, the quirkiness of the village and the breathtaking views throughout Portland.
What makes this house unique
Location, location, location - perfect for a quick picnic or sunbathe on Chesil Cove; a calf-crunching walk up the Heights to see the view as far as Lyme Regis and the Isle of Wight (on a very clear day); the fabulous Crab House Cafe for the best food in the area ... or a donkey ride on the Weymouth's sandy beach. For more serious walkers, we are just 150 metres from the South West Coast Path which you can follow for 630 miles from Poole to Minehead (or just 13 miles around Portland).
Guestbook comments from the owner
We're about to leave Wavecrest after a great week here, with a lot of sightseeing and beach fun (well, not to successful on fossils ;) What a nice and cosy place, you did an extraordinary job on the interior, we really liked your style!
Finally, let me thank you again for your booking at the Crab House Cafe (which was really excellent!) and in general your warm and kind support when preparing our stay!
PS: kids loved the attic ;)
