Fantastic family holiday in October
We stayed for 5 nights in this comfortable, spacious apartment with our 3 boys (9-13). There is plenty of room inside and out for chilling out or playing and it is clean and well maintained. There is lots of gear - in the kitchen, towels, bedding etc. We used the roll out bed upstairs for boy no. 3 so as not to need to use the huge futons downstairs for sleeping.
And lots of gear for fun too - table tennis and tennis bats to use down at the beach, balls, bikes, a skateboard. Next time we will check in a bag so we can take running gear, blades etc. It is so safe for the children with the quiet cul-de-sac to play out on and then a simple and quick route to the beach and prom via the park. Once at the beach/prom you can explore north past cafes, outdoor gyms, climbing frames or head south past the Olympic park to the city. Or sit and soak up the sun and take the occasional dip to cool off.
The local ramblas and nearby streets are great for bakeries, ice-cream, cafes, bars, restaurants, markets - food and little craft/pottery/jewellery stalls. We made good use of them.
Or you can walk to the city via the beach/prom - we took a long time as each climbing frame had to be scaled, all gym equipment tested, and tiny shells collected. But if your legs are not up to what would be a half hour stroll, it is less than 10 mins to the metro.
Barcelona has endless possibilities - we took in some Gaudi - descended far too many steps in Sagrada Familia and explored the roof of the Pedrera. We took the tube then funicular then cable car to the fort at the top of Montjuic for a fantastic sunset and views over the city - and then strolled down to the Magic Fountains display. We wandered the Ramblas, the covered market, the gothic quarter and ate tapas, hot montaditos and paella. Do use the recommendations for visits, eateries etc in the flat - they are excellent.
We will be telling friends to visit and cannot wait to go back ourselves.
