Overview

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Richmond & Kew - Priory Lane

5 bedroom, 3 bathroom home in Richmond with impeccably elegant interiors

And St George

As English as the spires of Oxford, the playing fields of Eton or a cup of tea taken with a teacake, Priory Lane is delightful as dear old Albion gets. Deer stroll the wooded slopes of Richmond Park, squirrels dart along the grassy verges and, up a gravel drive, there stands a home more beautiful still. From the wood-panelled hallway to the learned study and the high and noble dining room, the interiors are richly elegant. But save your biggest gasps for the garden – its paths are flagged, its hedges clipped, its lawns apple green. There’s even a swimming pool. And, as for town, you’re tantalisingly close.

The open

Your hosts hail from England and South Africa. She’s crazy about golf, and her trophies gleam from every mantelpiece. Their son and daughter having flown the nest, there’s even more space to go around.

England expects

This is a home that speaks of Sunday roasts, long rounds of golf and cups of tea sipped on the lawns. But save that for later. For now, crunch your way along the gravel drive, ease wide the door and be received by the gorgeous hallway. The beams are exposed, the walls panelled in wood and the silence only broken by the tick-tocking of a grandfather clock. You’ll be further impressed when you see the drawing room – light and elegantly appointed, its glass doors reveal the beautiful, gigantic garden. Settle into a squishy sofa or let yourself be lured by the flowerbeds, flagstone paths and idyllic swimming pool outside. You’ve a sweet and feminine sitting room, a darkly masculine study with African touches, and a bright, roomy kitchen. Gaze at the greenery as you whip up lunch, before choosing to dine in the kitchen, the garden or the impeccably English dining room, all artwork and rich red panelled walls. There are no less than five bedrooms, including the spacious and classy master, as well as three superbly equipped bathrooms to find.

Keep calm and carry on

Pull on your Chinos and practise your swing at Richmond Park Golf Course, or go for a good old ramble in Richmond Park itself. London’s biggest, it’s full of rushing steams, drowsing deer and a good number of ancient trees. Wander over to villagey Barnes, sample the pubs and cafes of Fulham and Putney or make for town. As rural as Richmond may appear, the trip from Barnes to Oxford Circus takes only half an hour.

Notes:
A welcome pack will be provided on arrival and an iPhone will be available for you during the duration of your stay. Home truths: This is a well loved family home, and shows some signs of every day wear and tear. Your host's regular gardener will pop by on Saturday lunchtimes to keep the garden looking it's best. He's got a gate key, so he won't need to disturb you. The pool is maintained by a service company that will visit every two weeks. Timings will be agreed closer to your stay. The shower in the family bathroom is not functional, so this bathroom is for baths only.
