This beautiful Grade II* listed cottage is set in the heart of a peaceful Devon village and offers a great touring base. The cottage dates back to 1420 and has a wealth of character, with exposed beams, inglenook fireplace with log burner and a delightful private garden. The cottage has been sympathetically restored to a very high standard with a chic well equipped kitchen, 2 double and 1 single bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with shower and a luxurious corner bath. The large sitting room has 2 big sofas, great for friends or for curling up peacefully to watch a movie or read.
The dining room is open to the kitchen, which makes entertaining easy and it is cosy for a romantic dinner. A second bathroom, next to the kitchen, has a spacious corner shower, pedestal basin & toilet, with a washing machine & tumble dryer to make any laundry easy to do. It is a perfect retreat if you just want to get away for a while.
The garden is private, beautifully maintained and full of colour in the summer months. There is a large table and 6 chairs where you can sit under the pergola and admire the wonderful views.
The cottage is situated by the village green where there is a quaint pub with restaurant 100 yards away. There is also a church and village shop close by. You can explore the breathtaking North Devon & Cornwall coastline, with spectacular cliffs and sandy beaches, ideal for surfing, swimming, sailing and sub aqua diving. Bude is just 20 minutes away with its sandy beaches, restaurants and shops. The market towns of Tavistock, Holsworthy, Launceston & Oakhampton are within easy driving distance.
Nearby attractions include the Otter Sanctuary, where you can walk amongst deer & wallabies and the Alpaca Centre, just 10 minutes away. This is a great place to stay if you enjoy walking and other outdoor pursuits.
Roadford Lake is just 4 miles away and offers beautiful trails to walk & cycle and fishing & sailing facilities.
Dartmoor is visible from the house and can be reached by car in 20 minutes.
Padstow, Tintagel, Clovelly and the Eden Project are all easily accessed from Ashwater. Plymouth offers all the city attractions including bowling,theatre the cinema, ice skating and even boasts a dry ski slope!
Day trips out to South Devon are also a nice way to spend a day with attractions like Salcombe, Newton Ferris, Burgh Island and Dartmouth
