Here is the perfect apartment, right in the centre, offering a high standard of comfort in a stylish, attractive interior. If you are looking for an interesting place to stay, which has character and comfort, and which is extremely well equipped, then this is for you. It offers excellent value for money for large families and groups who want to be really central.

Our apartment oozes with history and character. It is located in one of London's historic 'mews' streets, where the horse-drawn carriages of the wealthy Bloomsbury intellectuals would draw up. Charles Dickens lived just around the corner.

The mews still has the original cobblestones while the properties along its length are built from the mellow London brick, characteristic of the 1800's. You can easily imagine yourself living in a wealthy neighbourhood from a Dickens novel. Not surprisingly these houses and flats are now highly desirable residences, with potted plants on the cobbles outside the doors and pretty flowering window-boxes in the summer. Our apartment is on the first floor ( one floor up from the ground floor) of one of these very attractive 200-year-old buildings. Because this is a mews, there is no through-traffic, so our apartment is amazingly peaceful and quiet for a residence in the very centre of London.

The interior has been completely refurbished to a very high specification We have a beautiful original oak floor throughout, with attractive beds, high quality mattresses, and lovely furnishings and bedding. Our traditional sash windows (typical of London) let in loads of light and add to the character of the apartment. Yet all the facilities are updated and modern, with two full bathrooms (with showers) and a well equipped kitchen.

Best of all, our apartment is just two minutes away (really) from the Tube station at Russell Square - and that's on the direct Tube line from Heathrow. So if you are arriving at Heathrow you can quickly reach your accommodation without having to change trains or heave your luggage around. A real bonus!

The apartment is also very convenient for arrivals at St Pancras train station. Our Tube station at Russell Square is just one stop away from St Pancras (for the Eurostar trains to Europe), or it's a very easy walk from St Pancras to the apartment down a straight road.

Bloomsbury is also the perfect central area from which to explore London. Please do Google it. You can easily walk to so many tourist sights, and because the Tube station is so close it's really convenient. Our apartment is particularly close to Covent Garden (for the shops and restaurants) and to Theatreland if you fancy a London show. The British Museum is just a short walk. Nowhere is far away, so even if you take a taxi back it will be a short journey and therefore it will not be expensive.

The apartment has three full-size double bedrooms, and the beds have high-quality mattresses, comforters and linens so that you really feel you're staying in a good hotel. There is also a folding bed, suitable for a child or small adult, so we can accommodate a group of seven. The three bedrooms are very similar in size, space and attractiveness, so no one will feel they have 'pulled the short straw' !

The shower rooms each have a shower cubicle, sink, mirrored toiletries cupboard and WC. We provide clothes airers and we will give you plenty of soft egyptian cotton towels,

There is a spacious sitting room with coffee table, dining table big enough for 8, satellite TV, and superfast wifi which is free.

The kitchen is just off the sitting room, offering all you would need for self-catering.... a hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine/dryer, toaster and kettle. We have provided lovely glassware and attractive white crockery.

The flat is well heated with gas central heating.

The character of the accommodation is really highlighted by the lovely old oak flooring throughout, which gives a warm homely feel.

The apartment is on the first floor. Please note, in the UK this means it is one level up from the ground floor. It has its own front door at street level, leading to stairs (about 12) up to the first floor, and then another door into the sitting room, making it very safe. The whole apartment is on the same level.

Best of all the location of the apartment is hard to beat. It really is right in the heart of the centre of London, so you can walk to most of the places you'll want to visit, and you are surrounded by an area filled with interesting cafe's and restaurants.

The other big difference between our apartment and many others are the personal touches we offer. We are not a rental company, just an English couple who adore London and enjoy introducing others to all it has to offer. We have lovingly furnished and decorated the apartment to this very high standard because we really want our guests to have a fantastic time - happy guests mean more to us than high profits. So unlike some apartments, you will not find cheap beds, cheap mattresses, hard pillows...or any of the other horrors you can find with the squeeze-every-penny-of-profit apartment rental companies. We pride ourselves on giving a very friendly, helpful and professional service. We want you to feel you made exactly the right choice!

About Jan

Hello. I'm really pleased you like the look of my apartment enough to want to know about the owner. Until recently, I have had a really busy life as the MD of a research company, but now I just do occasional research projects and spend the rest of the time looking after this apartment and its guests. I absolutely love it !

I have always been a bit pernickety about detail. At home I'm one of those people who arranges the glassware in neat rows, shines the cooker every time it has been used, and has to place the cushions in exactly the right place on the sofa - you know the sort! So I think I'm quite well qualified to run a rental like this.

My philosophy is not to squeeze every last drop of profit out of running the apartment, but rather to get satisfaction from seeing people arrive and like what they see, and then at the end to hear how comfortable they have been and what a great time they've had. That is so much more pleasurable than a few extra pounds in the bank.

So I do hope I get the chance to meet you...

I looked at loads of properties in London before I saw this one, but the minute I stepped inside I knew this was absolutely right. It's bright and airy, really well laid out, with loads of space. Above all, it has a lovely feeling of character and space.

Better than described

Description understates how good a place this is. Six of us -- two each of grandparents, parents, and children (13 and 10) spent a very comfortable week together. Location is excellent -- easy walk from St. Pancreas with luggage, not only is the tube at Russell Square but so are buses, with another set of buses on Gower Street/Tottenham Court Road, and the British Museum, Covent Garden, and the restaurants on Charlotte Street are all within reasonable walking distance. Two hundred yards away is the Brunswick Centre, with a big Waitrose, small Sainsbury, and restaurants -- we liked sushi and curry from Hare and Tortoise, pizza from La Scala, and pastries from Patisserie Valerie.

The house is quite spacious -- bedrooms are big enough to retreat to, living/dining area commodious (we even added a daughter and husband to make eight around the dining table), and the kitchen big enough for two cooks.

The street is quiet and safe -- because it's one-at-a-time at the east end, very few cars use it.

The owner is personable, helpful with advice, and easy to work with.
All in all be prepared for more than the written description says!

Perfect, highly recommend!

Stayed for a week at this great flat. Travel made so easy to get on tube at airport and get off just 1 block from flat. No need for costly transportation to and from airport. Location was perfect, close to everything one wants to see in London. Spacious and roomy for 4 adults and loved that it had two separate bathrooms. Living space also spacious. Great beds, linens and even bathrobes in each bedroom. Washer/dryer came in so handy as well. Owners have thought of everything. The instructions were easy to follow, flat was in wonderful condition and clean, and plenty of necessary kitchen supplies. I could not have made a better choice. A great deal for the price. Met on arrival by manager who was most helpful. Had plenty of contact numbers if needed but all was anticipated so we didn't have any unanswered questions. Highly recommend and would rent this flat again. Jan, the owner, always answered any concerns via email prior to arrival very promptly. Great place!

Clean, Conveniently Located and Quiet

This unit was comfortable and convenient and located on a quiet street close to Russell Square. There was a fine pub down the block and a little shopping mall nearby that had a Waitrose which made cooking our own meals an option and saved us a lot of money. When we had an issue with the oven on a Saturday night, Jan was available and quick to respond to the issue. All was resolved in a satisfying manner. I would say it was excellent customer service!

Wi-Fi is a traveller's must these days and connecting to the unit's network was quick and easy.

My sister and niece shared one bedroom with the two bed configuration while my brother and I took a bedroom each. There were extra pillows available if needed. The weather was warm so we never did need to use the radiators.

The two bathrooms were located side by side. We designated them as the girls room and the boys room and we had enough towels for the six day stay.

The girls used the washing machine twice during our stay and there are drying racks available in each bathroom.

The multiple key sets were great as we didn't always tour London together.

The British Museum is walking distance otherwise we used the Tube to get around. There is so much to do in London! We had a London Pass which got us into many attractions.

I would certainly stay there again if traveling with two or more others and would definitely recommend this place. There is one flight of stairs to get into the unit.

Great location, cosy apartment in central London!

Very nice and cozy apartment in central London! Really liked the spacious bedrooms with very confortable beds, the sitting room with two sofas and the wooden floor in all all rooms.
Jan was a wonderful landlord, always available for help in case we needed.

I cannot recommend this property highly enough. It is in a fantastic location, very central (10-15 mins walk from St. Pancras), with everything on the doorstep. The apartment is clean, beautifully presented, extremely comfortable, very quiet, and has everything you need. The area is very safe too. We had a fantastic time. Jan is lovely and her thoughtfully provided information folder gives you details of everything you may require, both in the apartment and elsewhere - restaurants, travel information, wi-fi details, etc. Carluccio's restaurant at the Brunswick Centre (2 mins walk) is a must. Thank you Jan for making our stay an unforgettable and very enjoyable experience.

Our apartment is perfectly located in Bloomsbury, right in the very heart of the centre of London, so most of the sights can be reached on foot. The British Museum is just up the road, and all around you have interesting shops, cafes and restaurants ideal for a tourist visit.

This area is London at its best, with beautiful Georgian houses often arranged around a central square of garden. Some of these gardens are exquisitely planted with flower borders, trees and lawns...and best of all they are open and free to visitors.

Bloomsbury is right next to Covent Garden, Theatreland and the shopping district around Oxford Street. Hence some of the capitals most exclusive boutique hotels are to be found here.

Here are some of the places you might want to visit, with the time it will take you to walk to them...(we have walked most of these ourselves to check they are accurate) Of course, you could also take a Tube or a taxi, but by giving you the walking times you can see we are genuinely right in the middle of London....

  • The bedrooms are fairly equal in size and comfort and all are furnished with high-quality bedding, new double wardrobes, and bedside tables with lamps. The Red Room has a king-size bed, the Cream Room has a double bed, and the Blue Room can either have a king-size or we can arrange it as two singles. There is also a top-quality folding bed with deep mattress which can sleep an extra child (or small adult). The Cream Room and the Red Room have lovely big sash windows fitted with wooden blinds as well as curtains. The Blue Room has a Velux (roof) window.
