Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Cagnes-sur-Mer - La Cagnotte
2 bedrooms, plenty of charm, garden and terrace with sea view
La Cagnotte will completely capture your heart! This darling village house is filled with charm and is the perfect example of the French getaway we all dream of. Situated on the edge on the village, the house is accessed through a leafy gateway you almost wouldn’t know was there. You arrive in the garden with a full frontal view of the old, stone home. The garden lies on a few levels, in front of the house is a large terrace area with large outside dining table and seating. There are 2 or 3 different levels at the side and back of the house with terraces, flower beds, potted plants and wonderful old trees, typical of the area. A hammock is available and garden seating, where you can laze midst the jasmine and lavender smells.
When you enter the house through the front door you arrive into a large open plan area, the kitchen is the first part of the room and this is filled with wonderful food things – pots and bowls, baskets and jars, books and utensils, herbs and spices. There is a super large stainless steel oven with 6 gas rings, a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, nespresso coffee machine, juicer, kettle and just about everything you would want in a kitchen. La Cagnotte is a home, not just a rental property so it is very comfortable and extremely well equipped. A wooden dining room table with 4 wicker armchairs and cushions lies beside the kitchen opposite a wood burning, wrought iron fireplace. Beside the window is placed a comfy chair, where you can sit and read overlooking the front terrace. A curved staircase takes you to to the bedroom level.
A bedroom can be found at the top of the stairs, there is a double bed (140cm), wardrobe area, book shelves and pretty window with flower pots on the sill. The bathroom opposite is white with natural greeny-stoney-grey tiles. There is a walk-in shower, wash-hand basin, w.c and storage area.
The second bedroom in the house has a double bed (140cm), large sofa, a TV with English news and French channels, a small desk table and cupboard space. There is a beautiful large window which allows plenty of light to pour in and a charming arched doorway which leads you directly into the garden.
If you leave the house by this door and climb the stairs to your right on the outside of the house, you will arrive at a top terrace with sea views, as well as a view of the Chateau and medieval village of Haut de Cagnes. There is a table, chairs and bench – where you can sit and enjoy a sunny aperitif at the end of the day.
The house does not have parking but street parking is plentiful. The old stone houses have thick walls so tend to keep cool in the summer months, La Cagnotte also has the added advantage of doors in both the front and back of the house, allowing for a cool breeze to filter throughout. This little house has kept its old authentic, wooden beams and floor tiles in the house and the garden – it is hard to think of a better place in which to spend a well deserved break in such romantic French surroundings.
La Cagnotte is a short stroll to a good selection of restaurants and the village's main square, which is a hive of activity during the warmer months. The town below is within easy walking distance, where you can find a boulangerie, food market, boutiques, supermarket, cafes, post office, etc. The free shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes from the town up to the village so that is also an option if you don't feel like walking.
