Tew Cottage is probably what we all imagine when thinking of a classic Cotswold cottage - a gorgeous building under a thatched roof with period features everywhere: large open fire, beams, flagstone floor and a magnificent 2 acre garden all within a short stroll of a (world renowned) village and pub. It doesn't get much better than this. The cottage, which dates back over 250 years, and is owned by one of the world's leading photographers is presented in a traditional and period style that sits perfectly in this location. There is an open plan living space, very much the heart of the home, with accommodation split across three floors. It is, in our opinion, just as suitable for families as it is for a groups of friends who want to sample one of England's finest locations. Outside there is a large rolling garden with swings and two lakes (which the owners regularly swim in!!) plus a separate thatched building used as playroom. Direct from the cottage there is also a private seating area which is a perfect sun trap. There are few cottages to compare with this cottage, it is unique and special but above all it is something you are sure you will enjoy.

ACCOMMODATION

Entrance through to small lobby with hooks for hanging and ample space for boots etc

Kitchen, a modern, well equipped space with large worksurfaces, including a 5 ring gas hob, double electric oven and grill, microwave, washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, large fridge freezer. Wonderful countryside views.

Dining Area, leading direct from the kitchen, this room has so much character; large inglenook fireplace, beams, mullion windows, flagstone flooring. Plus 'country kitchen table' with up to eight chairs, straighback sofa plus two extra armchairs. Stunning views.

Living Room with two sofas, plus additional chair, large flatscreen TV with DVD, plus wide selection of DVD's, games and books with a door to the secluded garden area.

Cloakroom with WC and washbasin. Additional lobby area

First Floor

Master Bedroom Suite with super king size bed (6 ft) with chest of drawers, hanging space, beautiful views, plus Ensuite Bathroom with large bath, separate walk in shower WC and washbasin

Second Floor

Outside

The cottage has an outstanding garden. There is a secluded south facing terrace to the rear of the building leading to lovely rural gardens and unspoilt views across the valley. There are historic trees and two lakes (small) one of which has been used to swim in. (Please note that the owners nor MC can take any responsibility for the use of the lake, customers take total responsibility for the use of the lake during their stay and young children must be accommpanied by an adult at all times when at the lake).

Playroom / Extra Building

There is a separate building with a table tennis table, sofas and large play area which is perfect for playing within. This also has a private decking area.

Heating & Electricity Incl all year. Pets Welcome, downstairs only please. Wifi Available. Damages Deposit required in advance of arrival please.

Friday Changeover preferred. Children Welcome. Cot and High Chair available. Strictly No Smoking within accommodation.

Great Tew is 'up there' as one of the Cotswolds' very best and attractive villages. The cottage which is the last house in a row of thatched cottages is the epitome of the village: quintessentially English. A short stroll from the cottage is The Falkland Arms an absolutely excellent pub, which serves good food but which you MUST book well in advance if eating. There is also the village shop (called Sweet Pea) which sells all local and organic produce but which on a Friday night doubles up as a gourmet Pizzeria! (Book in advance...)

The village is predominantly owned by the Great Tew Estate which itself has a history dating back hundreds of years - with the beautiful St Michaels Church, which dates back to 1709 a focal point worth visiting.

The village is about 5 miles from Chipping Norton, which has a selection of shops and resturants worth considering. While very much a sleepy village, it becomes the very life and soul of Oxfordshire once a year when the Cornbury Festival at The Great Tew Estate happens (over one weekend) during the summer, with world famous bands playing for huge crowds.
