3 upstairs bedrooms maximum number of guests 6. 2 bathrooms

Teach Greine is a Eco-friendly dormer bungalow (2700sq feet) on its own grounds. Heated by solar power, a heat recovery system and excellent insulation makes it a warm and comfortable house. Organic paints and natural oils were used through out the interior. The main entrance door leads into a sun porch with a wooden spiral stair leading to the upstairs. The sun porch leads into the kitchen/dining area which has fitted wooden units, beech worktop and a work island. The kitchen has a Rayburn range, four gas hob rings, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, with a ample supply of crockery and utensils. The dining room has a table and six chairs and a sideboard. This leads into the sitting room which has magnificent views of the sea, rocky shoreline and mountains. It has a sofa and four large comfortable chairs, TV , piano, large coffee table and a cut-stone fireplace. In keeping with the Eco friendly ethos, Bamboo flooring is used in the kitchen/dining and sitting room areas. Off the sun-porch is a cloak room for hanging coats which leads into the downstairs shower/toilet and wash-hand basin room. The utility room off the sun-porch has a large sink, washing machine, fridge/freezer, ironing board and iron. Upstairs are three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a pull out hot press. There is a landing area which has a table and chair where you can enjoy the magnificent views of the sea and mountains. The west bedroom with a view of the sea has a double and single bed with a walk in wardrobe. The south bedroom has a double and a small single bed and open shelves for the wardrobe. The north bedroom has adult bunk beds with a view of the sea through the velux windows and open shelves for the wardrobes. All bedrooms have bedside lockers and bedside lamps. Wooden floors are in all the bedrooms, bathroom and landing. The bathroom has a small whirlpool bath, toilet and wash hand basin.

Why Eileen Noonan Connolly chose Connemara

I designed this house 15 years ago with a Eco concept with the help of my beloved husband Josie who died in 2004 and I have slowly worked on the house till it's completion this July 2013.

What makes this house unique

It is a dream house beside the sea where you can experience the solitude and beauty of Connemara.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have rented houses all over the world. But we must say that Teach

Greine clearly is one of our favorites. The house promises, what the

photos show. The location and the views are incredible. We could see a

seal every day. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything is very

clean. Eileen is not only a very welcoming host, but has even stocked

the fridge. We enjoyed our stay very much. Teach Greine is a wonderful

starting point to explore Connemara and definitely worth a trip.

Right at Home in the Sun House

  • 5 out of 5
We had a wonderful week at Teach Greine aka the Sun House. The sleeping and kitchen facilities easily accommodated our group of four. The house is warm and very comfortable.

It is an excellent place from which to take hikes, the sunsets are magnificent. We wished we’d had our bikes with us because the region is perfect for cycling. The surrounding stone-fenced hills and old structures are photogenic.

Eileen had thoughtfully stocked the fridge and pantry with enough to get us through the first 24 hours (and beyond) until we got our bearings on available provisioning in the area. This was an unanticipated and wonderful convenience.

Made in Heaven

  • 5 out of 5

As soon as we entered the house with the landlady Eileen, who is such a warm and oblinging woman, we felt as being in the garden of Eden. Eileen has planed, built and furnished that house with so much love, passion and sense for the surroundings. Every single day we have been delighted: all the plants and wild-flowers in the big garden, the inlet and the sea so close (watch out for the seal passing by several times a day), the cows and horses on the neighbouring countries, all the birds and always a marvellous outlook - no matter through wich window you look out. Driving for half an hour or an hour you`ll find beautiful sandy beaches (don´t expect to see many people there in June), starting points for walking in the mountains, small villages, ... It is a fantastic place to feel and discover connemarra. There is definitly enough space for six adults. Eileen services different maps (e.g. three of the irish discovering series of the area) and can give good tips for walks close to the house.
We spent one of our most wonderful holidays in Teach Greine - full of quiet, beauty and harmony. Sandra & Ulrike from Berlin

Perfect Holiday

  • 5 out of 5
Me and my father stayed in this lovely house for nearly one week at the beginning of June 2014. Over the last 10 years we stayed in many cottages overall in northern europe and we both honestly think, that this cottage was the BEST !! Many Thanks to Eileean, she is a perfect host.
The house is spacy, VERY clean, comfortable and perfectly equipped. The price is VERY fair,
the surrounding is really beautiful and quiet with wonderful views over the sea and the mountains.
It's also a good location for trips to the highlights of conemara.
If we should ever come back to ireland, will come back to this lovely house, but this time we will stay longer. Peter and Rolf from germay.
