Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Margate

This three bedroom (sleeping six) cottage is cheerful, newly refurbished and will provide an ideal base for a holiday in Margate! With one large double bedroom, and two with single beds, it will cater for most family groups and has a spacious kitchen and living room. The kitchen boasts ample workspace, a five burner hob (and pepsi light!) and is fully equipped - with a table seating six or more. The living room seats seven with TV, DVD, stereo etc. A private, sunny terrace garden to the side is great for summer barbecues and also for secure storage for bicycles. The house is a (brisk) 5/8 minute walk from the Old Town and Margate beach - and is also close to the Cliftonville beaches. Buses to Ramsgate, Broadstairs and Canterbury stop close by and there are 2 (!) supermarkets within a short walk.

immaculate and modern accommodation

More than excellent value. Well situated. Immaculately clean, stocked with essentials, modern and fresh, warm and roomy. Perhaps i would recommend a stairgate be taken if you have toddlers. Would definitely go again and not hesitate to recommend it to others.

Great House and Great Location

  • 5 out of 5
We recently returned from a week in your lovely house. The house is in a great location, very close to the beach and the shops, both within walking distance. There is a Lidl on the corner of the road which is great. The house is clean with great facilities. The kitchen is very well equipped with all that you could possibly need, very well thought out. It was lovely to have some milk, tea and coffee on arrival, a lovely touch. We had a couple of barbeques (we were going to buy one but there is already one there) another great touch. We ate in some nice restaurants one being Yama's Thai in the high street. The food was lovely and you can take your own wine. I even had my hair cut in a training college hairdressers also in the high street, wash cut and blow dry for only £10.00. We had a lovely day out in Canterbury. We went on the train which was a bargain at £21.30 for 6 people. Herne Bay was lovely too. We were very lucky with the weather which probably helped. There's the shopping outlet in Ramsgate, well worth a visit. There was great customer service from the owner who very kindly let us take our old cat with us which enabled us to have a family holiday, he also enjoyed his week away!!! All in all it was a great holiday in a lovely house. If I was being really picky the only thing that I would change is thicker curtains in the bedroom as the ones there are very lightweight which means a light bedroom and also a blind or curtain on the door in the basement bedroom again for the same reason, but that is just personal opinion. I have already recommended this to family and friends and would hope to return. Margate is undergoing a 3 year regeneration programme which I would envisage being great once all has finished.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great review and I'm glad that you (and your cat!) enjoyed your stay in the house - and found some good budget treats in Margate - a great place to spend some time especially when the sun is shining! Other things I like to do for not much money are fish and chips from Peter's Fish Factory, eaten on the steps overlooking the harbour (sunset essential) - and then a drink outside the Harbour Arms tiny pub, also overlooking the harbour but from the other direction!

Sorry that you found the curtains a bit light in the front bedroom - it is a matter of personal taste (doesn't bother me!) but I'll take your comment on board and will probably change them.

Do come again!

Kind regards

Pete

Lovely house!

  • 5 out of 5
We loved our stay in your house with some friends for a little winter break. 6 of us were very warm and comfortable there, the house was spotlessly clean, good value and had a very nice atmosphere - just as it looks in the photos! We especially liked the kitchen which has so much space for cooking - we live in a tiny flat - and it was bliss to be able to spread out!
Parking was easy and the house is near to supermarkets and shops so it is really convenient to use. We mostly ate in but aim to try out some of Margate's restaurants next time. The house is really close to the Old Town and the sea and we enjoyed a walk to Broadstairs along the beach. Your guide notes were really helpful.
So thank you for a great break. We'll be back!

We enjoyed our holiday at your wonderful house!

  • 5 out of 5
We enjoyed our holiday at your wonderful house. We all had a great time. We liked Margate with its nice cafes and shops, the beach, costal walks to Broadstairs ... as well as many of the nice towns in Thanet. We also spent one day in London.
And thanks for the good comments in your book at the house. We especially loved the Be Beached restaurant on the jetty and the Great British Pizza Company pizzeria. I found everyone very friendly.
We will hopefully come back to your house some time.

A relaxing weekend in sunny Margate

  • 5 out of 5
We had a lovely weekend in Margate, visiting the Broadstairs food festival which is a must for foodies. It was our second visit to the house, the first was in August, which shows how much we enjoyed our first trip. The house is beautifully decorated and has everything you would wish from a holiday home. It is a perfect place to spend a week or more and ideal for visiting the area of Thanet. The property is clean and inviting, there was a welcome container of milk in the fridge on arrival, so you can make a cup of tea before exploring the town. There is plenty to do from walks on the beach to shopping at the local out of town centre, perfect for teenagers to explore. The nearby towns of Broadstairs and Ramsgate are worth a visit. We had a yummy ice cream at the oldest ice cream parlour in Broadstairs and visited a number of cafes in Margate, the cup cake one had gorgeous cakes. Fortunately, the weather was perfect for both our stays, but the Tate is perfect for a rainy day, with a regular change of exhibits to suit all tastes. Although we did have a car it is possible to get around the area on buses and trains. The house is located very close to all amenities and the Shell Grotto nearby is well worth a visit. Be Beached is excellent for food, but I would recommend booking, especially at the weekends. The view from the harbour arm in the evening is beautiful, especially if there is a spectacular sunset. We would definitely recommend the house and Margate.

Margate is a fantastic base for a holiday in Kent - recently voted amongst the best 10 global vacation destinations by the Rough Guide! Not only does it have wonderful and quiet sandy beaches (some of the cleanest in the UK) and great swimming - but there are some really interesting places to visit during your stay. Top of the list must be the Turner Gallery where there is always a stimulating show on - absolutely free! Over the last few years the picturesque Old Town has been transformed into a retro shoppers paradise with many quirky shops, bars and cafes. Yesterdays can be explored in the Museum or take a trip to the mysterious Shell Grotto and try and figure out it's secret. Margate has lovely beach walks, one of the best fish and chip shops in the UK and a historic jetty to watch the Turner sunsets from! Margate's neighbouring seaside towns, Broadstairs and Ramsgate are both worth a trip and the beautiful cathedral town of Canterbury is a short hop away. If that isn't enough Sandwich, Whitstable and Faversham will all reward a visit and are easily reached by bus or train.
