The Monte Rosa is a 3 bedroom Attic apartment, with a beautiful vaulted wooden ceiling. It has uninterrupted views of the north face of the Eiger. Light floods into the very spacious open plan 3rd floor apartment living area from 'floor to ceiling' windows. Take in the stunning scenery from the large south facing balcony. Enjoying evening meals from the comfort of the dining table, with a view of the sun setting on the Eiger vista, we are sure you will agree, is a very special experience.

The 120m2 apartment sleeps 6 (3 bedrooms), with two bathrooms (there is a bath, and a free standing shower). Two of the bedrooms have double beds, and the third has 2 twin beds. The Monte Rosa has a fully equipped kitchen, with a breakfast bar. The apartment has its own private covered parking space (under the chalet). There is wireless internet connection, satellite TV, and DVD player provided. There are laundry facilities downstairs. Both a cot and a high chair is available if needed.

The chalet is located in a very quiet private road. It’s both a short walk up to the town centre, and a short walk down to the Grindelwald Grund train station. Conveniently there is a ski bus stop very nearby too. Whether skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer, or just exploring Grindelwald and the surrounding area, the Monte Rosa Attic is a perfect base.

We were a party of 5 - me, my husband, his parents and my mother - 3 of them in their 70's. Owners Aaron & Charlotte could not have been more helpful before our visit answering questions by email. The apartment is reached by 4 flights of stairs but well lit with a good hand rail, so the 'elders' managed the final climb at the end of each long day. All agreed that the incredible views of the Eiger & surrounding hillsides made the stairs worthwhile. Fabulous apartment - comfortable, well equipped, spacious and clean and with a huge, covered balcony. Comfy beds, great kitchen, wi-fi (for those not finding the breathtaking views enough), heaps of storage space - at no time did it feel crowded. The location of the apartment itself is perfect - 10 minute walk up the hill has you at the train station in the centre of Grindelwald. A few minutes more along the main street gives you restaurants, shops, bars, a good co-op supermarket and the gondola station for First. Perfect. Property manager 'D' (sounds a little James Bond, I know) called round on our first morning (flight delay so late arrival previous night) and filled us in on the apartment, refuse systems etc plus lots of local knowledge info. We had already planned to buy travel passes (might seem expensive but use them and you easily get your worth of the fantastic Swiss transport system). D's advice helped us to get the perfect 6 day pass for our needs. We barely used the hire car all week. Had we had any problems (we didn't) we knew we could call on D for advice. The local restaurants and bars that we sampled were good - food and service excellent (just accept the prices!) and the transport systems beyond perfect. We spent many days travelling up into the mountains with the 'elders', Neil and I heading off for long (and sometimes challenging but that's another story) walks in the mountains to meet them at another point which they reached by public transport. Grindelwald is a perfect base for exploring this fabulous area and this apartment is ideal. At the beginning of July we saw everything from blazing sun, snow in the mountains, spring flowers in the Alpine pastures and the incomparable sound of cow bells. My husband and his family spent many happy holidays in this area years ago - this was my first visit. Would we recommend this apartment? Absolutely. This area? Undoubtedly. For skiers I imagine you would struggle to do better. I even forgot about work & trust me - that is the magic of this place!
