Welcome to Low Dog Lodge...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! You will not find a better ski-in ski-out location in Big Sky. Walk out the door, strap on your skis and go ski directly to the Thunderwolf High speed Quad. Low Dog Lodge is a Log Home with four bedrooms, a loft, and three full baths. This home has a warm and rustic Montana decor. It is located at the end of a cul-de-sac with lots of privacy and great views of Beehive Basin and Spanish Peaks. It is one of the 'true' Ski In / Ski Out homes in Big Sky. You can walk to the lodge at the base of Big Sky Resort with its restaurants, bars, shops and ski/board rentals. You won't find a better location in Big Sky during the summer or winter. The home is very private so you won't have any problems feeling like your in the middle of the wilderness, yet close to everything..

We have just updated the home to include 3 king guest bedrooms (one with private bath), 1 queen guest bedroom, and 1 bunk room that has two sets of log bunk beds that are extra long to easily accommodate adults. There is also an open loft on the third floor that has a queen sofa bed and a large big screen TV. Let the kids watch the big screen TV in the loft using DirecTV or DVD's or they can play some of the board games we have available. There is also an additional TV and DVD player in the comfortable great room on the main level. For a little romance or warmth, load up the large Montana Mossy rock fireplace in the great room. We are happy to supply logs, because the experience just isn't the same until you get to sit by the fire and talk about the wonderful adventures of the day.

The kitchen features a new double range/oven, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. The kitchen counter tops are granite and the island bar has seating for four, so you can accommodate even more guests for dinner, or sip on a drink and supervise the cooks in the kitchen before dinner. The large dining room table seats 8 guests and can be extended to seat 10 or more.

After a hard day on the slopes, or a summer afternoon of hiking, river rafting or golf, come back and relax in your own private hot tub that seats 6-8 people comfortably. Located on the ground floor, it has a great view of the valley with no homes in sight.

We've built a new heated entry and ski room on the ground floor. It offers a convenient place to store all your gear and suit up every day before stepping outside. We think you'll find it a great addition to home.

In addition to skiing and snow boarding, just head outside to find for some of the best hiking and snow shoeing in Big Sky. You're also only a short drive to some of the best golf and fishing that Montana has to offer. The kids (and adults) will love the great sledding just outside and we offer a couple of sleds in the garage so you can give it a try.

About Low Dog Lodge Reservations

We share a passion for travel that offers us the opportunity to ski & snowboard all over the world - USA, Japan, Europe, New Zealand, Chile, etc. We love Montana year-round, but think the world class skiing in Big Sky can't be beat! What started out as vacations to Montana in the 90's, turned into making Bozeman home for a few years, before finally deciding to buy a home of our own in Big Sky that we can share with family & friends. We take pride in our home and hope our guests enjoy it enough to come back again and again.

Low Dog Lodge Reservations purchased this house in 2012

Why Low Dog Lodge Reservations chose Big Sky

We selected this beautiful log home because of its great ski access, but also because it really has a great Montana feel. It's large enough to accommodate a big group, but cozy enough to really feel like a home. The location at the base of Andesite mountain on a private, dead-end road provides fantastic ski-in & ski-out access. It's only a short walk or drive to all the offerings at the mountain mall complex, but feels very secluded at the same time.

Skiing in Big Sky is great since there are no lift lines to speak of and it has the largest acreage of ski-able terrain in the USA. Having a true ski-in/ski-out home is the only way to go with a large family or group that starts and stops their ski day at different times. Less than an hour's drive from either Bozeman or Yellowstone makes it the perfect location for either Summer or Winter activities. We love the home and hope you will too!

What makes this house unique

One of the few log homes on the mountain with great ski-in & ski-out access. Plenty of privacy, yet only a short walk to the restaurants & shopping in the Big Sky Mountain Village. Great views of Beehive Canyon off the large wrap-around deck or from the outdoor hot tub (great after a hard day of skiing!). In the summer, you'll be able to see plenty of animals including bears, moose, deer and elk right around the home.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Our family thoroughly enjyed your home last winter and the skiing was the best I have experienced in years with lots of new snow. The hot tub hit the spot and we used it every day after skiing. The ability to ski directly to Thunderwolf lift really was convenient so the kids could start skiing when they wanted and the adults could start after we had limbered up. We were very pleasantly surprised and impressed with the new furnishings you installed since last year. Very cozy and warm. Wish there was much snow as last year, but we still had a great time. we will be back

Beautiful home, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

A group of 10 adults went to Low Dog Lodge for an annual ski trip reunion. The house was perfect for us - beautiful, high end, great location. We all agreed that it was the best accommodations we've stayed in as a group. Ski in, ski out but also a very short drive (or walk) to the base of the mountain. The house had all of the necessities in the kitchen. The beds are also very comfortable! Highly recommend this house - we all want to go back.

Great 2-Family Ski Trip

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for New Years Week 2015. The location was perfect and allowed us to ski out easily. Be aware that with low or early ski conditions, skiing in was not allowed. However, it was a short drive to pick everyone back up at the base. We liked skiing the Big Sky areas more than Moonlight Basin and the location of the house worked in our favor. The house was well equipped and housed our party of 9 perfectly. The living area is a bit small but we didn't mind. THe "kids", ages 14-15, made an epic sledding track next to the house. There is large decking but it was too cold for us to use. We used all 4 humidifiers provided. A couple of maintenance issues came up but the repairman came quickly and resolved. Communication was super too. We loved Low Dog Lodge and would stay again. Since not all of us skied, it would have been great to bring our service dog in training but they didn't allow us too. Note to all, there is no gas at the base area and AAA will take an hour to get there to help if it's snowing. Also, it can be quite cold so stock up on full face masks and hand/toe warmers. The mountain is spectacular!!!

Great ski trip

  • 5 of 5

We went to Low Dog Lodge with 6 guys for our annual ski trip. Everything about the Low Dog Lodge was fantastic. Matt was very easy to communicate with, the house was perfect and had everything we could possibly want. We really enjoyed the layout of the house with an open living/kitchen/dining area and plenty of sleeping options that were private and great. The ski room was a great place for our things to keep wet clothes and boots to dry out away from the rest of the house. If I had a ski house of my own, I would model it on the Low Dog Lodge. The ski out run down to the lift was a breeze. The ski in was a little tricky, but driving up to pick people up at the main areas was a five minute trip. Very easy. We'd all go again in a heartbeat. Thanks.

The Perfect Place!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here for the week of Christmas, there were nine of us. The house is exactly as it looks in the pictures. The kitchen is so stocked with every pot, pan, utensil and appliance you could ever possibly want. The layout of the house and the rooms were just perfect. That ski access was right out the front door and the hot tub was so wonderful to come home to every afternoon. It's in a central location that was close to everything. Matt was so helpful with any questions and concerns we had prior to arriving and during our stay. Rent the Low Dog Lodge, I promise you won't regret it!

Beautiful Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

I hosted a women's retreat here, and the house was perfect! The kitchen was well stocked with everything my chef needed and the layout was convenient. Everything was labeled and instructions were clear, which made it as easy as home. We loved the fireplace--it was so handy having everything right there for us. The property feels secluded and private because of the orientation of the cabin. It was easy to get to and there is great hiking nearby (even a path right out the back door). Check in and checkout were simple and flexible and Matt was very pleasant to work with.

Big Sky is absolutely beautiful this time of year and we will definitely be back!

The perfect home in the perfect location!!!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at the Low Dog Lodge! There were 4 adults and 7 kids so we were looking for a home that allowed the kids to play outside and explore! Low Dog Lodge was the perfect home for this. The kids (ranging in age from 8-15) loved playing outdoors, building forts, and taking long walks in the woods. They were thrilled when they came across a moose one day near our house! We loved that we could walk to Big Sky's base camp and do all the great activities they offer there. We also loved that it was close enough to all the activities we did, including Yellowstone. We were able to hike, bike, go whitewater rafting, and go to Yellowstone in under an hour. The location was absolutely perfect. The home was beautiful and gave us the "rustic Montana" feel we were looking for. Not only were we greeted with a bottle of wine and snacks, but we felt it had everything we needed in it's well stocked kitchen and linen closet. We were also contacted by one of the managers to make sure we were enjoying our stay! Can't get much better than that :) We would highly recommend the Low Dog Lodge to anyone looking for an awesome Montana experience.
