About this property

Mountain Village True Ski-in/out Log Home - 5BR/3BA & Chevy Suburban

Welcome to Low Dog Lodge...

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! You will not find a better ski-in ski-out location in Big Sky. Walk out the door, strap on your skis, and go ski directly to the Thunderwolf high-speed quad lift. Low Dog Lodge is a log home with five bedrooms, a loft, and three full baths. This home has a warm and rustic Montana decor. It is located at the end of a cul-de-sac with lots of privacy and great views of Beehive Basin and Spanish Peaks. It is one of the 'true' ski-in & ski-out homes in Big Sky. Within 10 minutes you can walk to the base of Big Sky Resort with its restaurants, bars, shops, and ski/board rentals. You won't find a better location in Big Sky during the summer or winter. The home is very private so you won't have any problems feeling like you are in the middle of the wilderness, yet close to everything.

Our home includes 3 king guest bedrooms (one with a private bath), 1 queen guest bedroom, and 1 bunk room with two sets of log bunk beds that are extra long to easily accommodate adults. There is also an open loft on the third floor that has a queen sofa bed and a big-screen TV. Let the kids watch the big screen TV in the loft using DirecTV or DVDs or they can play some of the board games we have available. There is also an additional TV and DVD player in the comfortable great room on the main level. For a little romance or warmth, load up the large Montana mossy rock fireplace in the great room. We are happy to supply logs because the experience just isn't the same until you get to sit by the fire and talk about the wonderful adventures of the day.

The kitchen features a double range/oven, dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator. The kitchen countertops are granite and the island bar has seating for four, so you can accommodate even more guests for dinner, or sip on a drink and supervise the cooks in the kitchen before dinner. The large dining room table seats 8 guests and can be extended to 10 or more.

After a hard day on the slopes or a summer afternoon of hiking, river rafting, or golf, come back and relax in your own private hot tub that seats 6-8 people comfortably. Located on the ground floor, it has a great view of the valley with no homes in sight.

We've built a heated entry and ski room on the ground floor. It offers a convenient place to store all your gear and suit up every day before stepping outside. We think you'll find it a great addition to the home.

In addition to skiing and snowboarding, head outside to find some of the best hiking and snowshoeing in Big Sky. You're also only a short drive to some of the best golf and fishing that Montana has to offer. The kids (and adults) will love the great sledding just outside and we offer a couple of sleds in the garage so you can give it a try.

**Note**
Please refer to the ski-in/ski-out access map in our photos so that you can understand the route options to our home and the recommended skill level requirements for each route.

**Note**
We have recently purchased a new Z71 suburban that is offered as an added amenity for renting our home. We offer discounted rates to all of our guests through Turo. Please ask about renting our suburban when you submit your booking inquiry for our home.

Amazing mountain lodge
We had our best ski mountain stay at the Low Dog Lodge! 3 families with kids (6 adults, 5 children) and the house was so welcoming... spacious, with everything we could've asked for (even sleds for the kids to go on the hill behind the house). We enjoyed the hot tub, the deck and grill, the fireplace, all the amenities. Very convenient to ski in (beware, there's a blue run involved, so total beginners can do it) and ski out. The owners/managers were very responsive!

Big Sky family ski trip
Such a beautiful home and was perfect for our family, we had 11 ppl total. We didn’t try to ski in/out since we had young skiers/snowboarders so I can’t give any info on that. The base of the mountain was only 6 or 7 blocks away so it was more convenient for us to just drive over every morning. We bought our own groceries but the kitchen was stocked well with dishes/pots/pans/paper towels and everything we needed for preparing our meals. The dining room table was beautiful and large enough to fit most of us. The hot tub was a big hit with the teenagers and younger adults and was the first thing everyone would do as soon as we got back from the mountain every day. There was a closet full of puzzles and games that we took advantage of as well. Bedrooms were all comfy and clean and the bathrooms were well stock with essentials which was a plus. The managers and owners were great with all the info that was needed for checking in/out so everything went smoothly. We would definitely stay here again!

We share a passion for travel that offers us the opportunity to ski & snowboard all over the world - USA, Japan, Europe, New Zealand, Chile, etc. We love Montana year-round, but think the world class skiing in Big Sky can't be beat! What started out as vacations to Montana in the 90's, turned into making Bozeman home for a few years, before finally deciding to buy a home of our own in Big Sky that we can share with family & friends. We take pride in our home and hope our guests enjoy it enough to come back again and again.

Why they chose this property

We selected this beautiful log home because of its great ski access, but also because it really has a great Montana feel. It's large enough to accommodate a big group, but cozy enough to really feel like a home. The location at the base of Andesite mountain on a private, dead-end road provides fantastic ski-in & ski-out access. It's only a short walk or drive to all the offerings at the mountain mall complex, but feels very secluded at the same time.

Skiing in Big Sky is great since there are no lift lines to speak of and it has the largest acreage of ski-able terrain in the USA. Having a true ski-in/ski-out home is the only way to go with a large family or group that starts and stops their ski day at different times. Less than an hour's drive from either Bozeman or Yellowstone makes it the perfect location for either Summer or Winter activities. We love the home and hope you will too!

What makes this property unique

One of the few log homes on the mountain with great ski-in & ski-out access. Plenty of privacy, yet only a short walk to the restaurants & shopping in the Big Sky Mountain Village. Great views of Beehive Canyon off the large wrap-around deck or from the outdoor hot tub (great after a hard day of skiing!). In the summer, you'll be able to see plenty of animals including bears, moose, deer and elk right around the home and we have great hiking trails right out the front door.
