About Scott Richardson

I am an airline pilot for a UK based company.

I have just completed converting this property to the highest standard. I enjoy many sporting activities and will try pretty much anything once, this includes Sky diving and bungee jumping.

I have cycled from Lands End to John O' Groats for charity.

Having had 9 months travelling across Australia and 2 months in the USA, I'd like to add New Zealand and Canada to the list.

Scott Richardson purchased this barn in 2010

Why Scott Richardson chose Chapel-en-le-Frith

The main house to this property (Castle Manor) is a superbly unique property and I fell in love with it immediately a long time ago as I've lived in Chapel all my life.

What makes this barn unique

As you will see from the photo's, what makes this property unique is the turret and design of the building. The beautiful location and views are also amazing, it truly is a superb location and with fantastic public transport it really does have it all.

Fantastic

  • 5 out of 5
Just returned from a weeks stay at Castle House. We had the most wonderful time. The property was spotlessly clean. Towels and bedding were spotless and fresh, all being of high quality. Kitchen extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Fridge and freezer very large with lots of space. Property overall was very spacious and under floor heating kept it nice and cosy without being overpowering. Loads of DVDs available to watch in surround sound on the very large television. Electric recliners (all 4 seats recline) were an absolute bonus for complete relaxation. Jaccuzi and steamer/double shower is a great size. Can not fault anything at all, a real credit to the owner Scott. Scott (and Mum Wendy of course) were fantastic, so friendly and welcoming with nothing being too much for them alongside excellent communication from booking to arrival. A lovely property to explore local attractions but also a fantastic place to "hibernate" as we did for the week. Very secure as well, with enclosed electric gates for access in and out (x2 remotes provided on arrival).Large waterbed very comfortable Would highly recommend.

Lovely house but gardens are shared

  • 3 out of 5
As per the title - book this house if you are into your gadgets (and it is very well equipped and spotlessly clean) but not if you like to sit out of an evening with a glass of wine.

The photos show 'private gardens' but the gardens in the photos are not private - they are shared with the multiple occupants of the adjacent house, which appears to have been converted into flats. The garden belonging to the holiday property is at the front and overlooks the busy main road. There are railings separating you from the road so everybody driving and walking past can see in - not exactly 'private'. I have two young children who I like to let run around when we're on holiday but unfortunately I couldn't let the younger one out on her own on this holiday as the garden is not enclosed and, as I have said, it is not private. I felt badly let down because the photos are captioned with 'large private gardens' which I feel is disingenuous at best and deliberately misleading at worst.

I see this advertiser is still advertising this holiday home as having 'large private gardens' alongside photos of the garden which ISN'T private (but no photos of the garden overlooking the main road - I wonder why that is?) and I just wanted to let people know. I am a single mum and can only afford one holiday a year so it is important to me that I am not misled. I hope this review will help others out.

Gadget house

  • 5 out of 5
My daughter and I stopped at the 'gadget house' as she named it for my 30th birthday. Scott was very welcoming and went through all the rooms telling us how to work everything. We had a wonderful break and the weather was lovely. Perfect location for days out but we loved snuggling on the sofa watching lots of films! Highly recommend Castle House and look forward to going back again.

Excellent holiday home

  • 5 out of 5
Spent a brilliant week in this well equipped, top of the range holiday home. Design very well thought through to ensure your stay is as luxurious and comfortable as possible. Home entertainment system is second to none including fabulous 65" TV with cinema style seating. Full Sky package including multi-room is included. We have stayed in many fine holiday cottages but never experienced such levels of luxury. Location is very convenient for exploring/touring the Peak District. Supermarket and two railway stations close by adds to the convenience of this location. Relaxing week - highly recommended.
