About Brian Quinn

My wife and I are currently retired after 32 years living in the US and Asia working for a large corporation. We had several oceanfront rental properties over the years from cape cod to st. thomas, virgin islands, but now only rent our home in cape cod, the origin and flagship location of our rental business.

Brian Quinn purchased this house in 1992

Why Brian Quinn chose West Yarmouth

We grew up in New England and Cape Cod has always held a special place in our hearts. Immediately fell in love with the views and coziness of this home the moment we first walked in the front door. We have made several capital improvements to the house over the years, but hopefully kept the same original beach charm. West Yarmouth was perfect for us as it is so centrally located for activities, restaurants and shopping. In addition, it is a short drive once over the bridge.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Another stay at Upwind, another solitary complaint....our stay was simply too short!. Everything else was perfect. Thank you for opening your immaculate home to us again. And thank you again, for controlling the gorgeous weather - we won't ask how you do it. Another painful goodbye.

Dear Brian and Gail,
It was a great week at your lovely home, perfect for relaxing away the last few days of summer. The weather was perfect, too! Your home is so comfortable and all the unique touches made it extra special - you thought of everything. Thank you for the gifts and your tips and advice. It was my first visit to Cape Cod and so enjoyable - I was very fortunate to have found you!

A little piece of paradise

  • 5 out of 5
Upwind is better than advertised. The location on Lewis Bay is convenient to the Island ferries, JFK Memorial in Hyannis and all that the Cape has to offer. The beach on Lewis Bay in front of the house is just big enough for the area, never crowded, with warm water and gentle surf., and just a few miles down Route 28 are larger beaches and a really good restaurant, The Skipper. The cottage itself has all the amenities you would need; towels, beach chairs, etc. and a really cool outside shower to rinse off the salt and sand. We would definitely recommend this home to our family and friends.

Owner's Response: Thank you Annie for your great review and for taking good care of our home during your stay. And thanks for the very nice email you sent to us:
"Gail and Brian,
We didn't get to say goodbye Saturday, so we wanted to thank you for letting us occupy your darling cottage for two weeks. It is such a nice, well appointed home and we and our family loved the location and comfort it offered. If we hadn't bought our own place last week, we would surely have returned."

Great vacation as usual!

  • 5 out of 5
We have been coming to the Upwind for many years now and are never disappointed. The cottage is well equipped with all the comforts of home, and we thoroughly enjoy our time here. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need for both eating and drinking including a wine fridge and glasses. The views from the upper deck, especially at sunset should not be missed.

Whether we eat out at the local restaurants like The Lobster Boat or Captain Parkers or go to the local fish market and get steamers and lobsters to cook at home, we always enjoy the food. Taking in a Cape Cod League ballgame is always on our agenda as well as a whale watch out of P-town.

We would highly recommend staying here. We are already planning on returning next year!

Best Vacation Ever

  • 5 out of 5
What a fun week! The weather was beautiful, so we were able to do so much. We took a bike ride on the bike trails in Falmouth, including along the beach, with beautiful views. We went whale watching and visited the Whydah Pirate Museum in Provincetown. Both were great fun and excellent learning experiences. Another must is the Monomoy Island seal cruise. The captain was entertaining and informative. Other stops we highly recommend were the lavender farm, Scargo Tower, Museum of Natural History on the cape and Fenway tour, Charles River Duck tour, Freedom Trail, and street performers at Quincy Market in Boston. Thank you for being so welcoming and helpful. Your home is beautiful; we especially enjoyed your extra special touches - like the freshly cut flowers in the bedrooms. We had everything we needed for a week of fun and relaxation! Thanks! ~The Hicks and Bennett families

Authentic, great location & amenities-plus

Brian and Gail certainly know how to throw out the welcome mat! Their hospitality and special touches in their authentic Cape Cod beach cottage made this the perfect vacation for us, our adult children and granddaughter.

The owners really have thought of everything a person might need when staying away from home a week or more at the beach - from the beach towels, totes, toys and chairs to their fully equipped kitchen to a well-stocked library of books, games and DVDs for those rainy days or evenings when you just want to kick back.

The upper and lower decks, as well as the rooms, have excellent views of sea and sand. Everything was charmingly decorated and very clean. We loved the experience of the outdoor shower and took advantage of the cottage's great location, enjoying the shopping in Hyannis, taking the nearby ferry to Nantucket and exploring the National Seashore.

The needs of our toddler-aged granddaughter were also considered. The owners supplied a high chair, crib, stroller and child's cup and plate.

We'd do it again in a heartbeat, and would highly recommend this property. Mark and Karol A.
