DESIGN VILLA WITH SWIMMING POOL JUST 2 KM FROM THE BEAUTIFUL OLD TOWN CISTERNINO

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday chateau / country house in Cisternino - Trulli della Littorina

Typical Country house, Up To 8 Sleeps, Panoramic Countryside View

La Littorina is a designer villa with panoramic swimming pool in Cisternino, in the Valley of Trulli. Typical structures, called 'lamia', are offered to those wishing to spend an exclusive holiday in one of the most beautiful places of Puglia.

From the comfortable veranda, equipped with garden furniture, you can enjoy the surrounding landscape: a panoramic view of the countryside with ancient trulli and trees. The exclusive swimming pool with a stunningly beautiful view, is a source of coolness and relaxation.

The 'Lamia' has been interiorly transformed in a loft of a very refined and sought after design. The logic of open space, with departments limited to the minimum, coexists with the more traditional soul of the lamia. The living and dining area occupy the ground floor: hi-tech kitchen and large sliding window with exceptional views over the countryside. The boundaries between spaces, where they exist, are essential and not too sharp, while the separation between interior and exterior is softened by the transparency of the glass.

A brief flight of stairs reaches the first floor, with a study area and a master bedroom with bath / shower. Downstairs you will find a rather peculiar room / wagon, where it is made an optimal utilization of the height by placing four double beds on two different levels as if they were two bunk beds, but double. This Lamia, served by a bathroom / shower, is a perfect solution for 8 people (also with children).

There is also an annex, a second 'Lamia', which maintains the original characters of ancient rural dwellings: a studio with a small kitchenette, double sofa bed on the ground floor, double bed upstairs on the mezzanine and a bath with shower: 2/4 sleeps.

The villa has all the comforts: washing machine, dishwasher, wi-fi, internet TV, international channels, hi-fi system and underfloor cooling or heating.

Located in a great location, just a mile and a half from the centre of Cisternino (recognized as one of the most beautiful villages of Italy) and easily accessible from the paved road, allows to reach, in a few minutes drive, the beautiful sandy beaches of Torre Canne and Savelletri (about 10 miles).

La Littorina is the perfect place for an unforgettable vacation.

Pierluigi is the manager of Trulli della Littorina, he will provide you the perfect stay for your exclusive holiday in Puglia. I am the owner, Pascal (1972), born in the Netherlands. In 1995 I lived my first real Italian experience in a charming apartment in Turin in northern Italy. At that time I was a student and was intrigued by the way the Italians live; the old palazzi fascinated me with their high ceilings, as did the characteristic housekeepers, the loud television sounds from every window and the smell of cooking floating up from the courtyards.

In 1997, out of this growing passion for Italy, I established a wine import company with a friend of mine, importing quality Italian wines and selling them throughout Europe and abroad. This gave me the chance to visit magnificent country houses and wine estates throughout Italy. It was then that I realized that the ‘Italian way of living’ I was learning to love was probably of interest to many people, if they could just be exposed to it.

Not many countries have the luck to have both a complex of grand cities like Rome, Venice, Florence and sport fabulous landscapes like Apulia, all under one flag. This makes Italy truly unique. As I spent more and more time there, I discovered just how much I wanted others to be able to enjoy this uniqueness just as I did.

The year 2004 marked my permanent move to Italy. My son was born in Italy in 2006 and when I got to know Puglia and especially the Valle d'Itria I simply fell in love with this part of Italy.

Pierluigi Sabato (Perle di Puglia) purchased this chateau / country house in 2010

The Valle d'Itria and especially Cisternino have something magical to it. I stayed for a week in one of the unique 'trulli' and drove by a fascinating small white building that had the sign 'for sale' on it. I just had to go back to check it out and it just seemed like the most beautiful spot. Here the project started. A good friend of mine, Gilles There (architect) helped me with the design offering a challenge between the ancient and modern, respecting the local architecture, materials and tradition.

The combination of the views, facing the south-west looking all the way towards Ceglie Messapica, the proximity of the sea (10 km), the historical centre of Cisternino (one of the nicest hamlets in Italy), the quality of the food and being surrounded by fantastic honest neighbours makes this a unique place. Being in the 'lamia' offers a truly unique experience. You look out on the trulli and have a large garden to relax and stroll around.

Art, culture and nature are just some of the reasons to visit Puglia, in an amazing journey to discover a land that speaks a new language, made of emotions. Castles and towers, palaces, museums and art galleries, the look is often captured by unpublished coast, Murge sweet and charming historical villages. Varied and diverse tourist offer in Puglia dissolves any reservation for the vibrancy of colours, sounds and scents. The warmth and friendliness of the people and the natural beauty of any landscape, always different and always new at every glance through unrepeatable experiences producing emotions. Ravines, clean, sinkholes, nature reserves, parks and protected areas tell the story of the man who has dealt with this area, turning it to their own needs.

It's worth stopping a few days in the city or in the small towns of the provinces to explore the beautiful fortified farms scattered around the area, numerous mansions and the many historic buildings in urban centres, in many cases turned into cultural containers used to house beautiful art collections, art galleries and museums.

Puglia is also crafts and food traditions typical of the Mediterranean. The many excellences that the entire region offers can be enjoyed venturing into alternative routes that enhance the oil mills, millstones and the typical activities in a story handed down from ancient productions to date with the tastes and values of a people proud of their land and inseparable relationship with it.

The mild climate is influenced by the proximity of the sea: the sunny period than five months, during which the rainfall does not exceed 10% of the amount of annual rainfall.

La Littorina is located in one of the most beautiful places in Puglia: Itria Valley; extensive karst hills shaped by gentle ups and downs. The valley lies between the hills, from which you can enjoy a vibrant, colourful, in which, however, shows three colours: green as the lush vegetation, oaks, olive groves, vineyards, white as milk of lime, layer over layer Whitening trulli, farms and ancient villages with saving detail the sculptural decorations, and finally red as the colour of the bolus, the characteristic ground that, because of its properties, while covering the soil with a thin layer allows a luxuriant nature.

Places to go:

- Cisternino - 1 minute - Recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Messapic. Also famous for its Buddhist centre Bhole Baba and the quality of meat and vegetarian specialities.

- Ostuni - 8 minutes - also known as 'The White City', for the blinding monochrome colouring of his village, strictly in white. A fascinating tangle of narrow, winding streets, a succession of courtyards, squares and alleys that will reveal unique places and a knowledge of food and wine old and genuine.

- Martina Franca and Ceglie Messapica - 8 minutes

- Alberobello, Castellana Grotte - 35 minutes

Nearby beaches:

The coast that falls within the area of Ostuni stretches for about 15 km along the Adriatic, alternating between sandy beaches and dunes of fine sand and rocky coastlines. Lido Morelli (15 minutes) is an important Regional Protected Area, as it is one of the few surviving wetlands. Moving on to the territory that borders are Carovigno Pozzella Tower, a stretch of coast very beautiful and wild consists of cliffs and coves, considered a Site of Regional (SIR). Continuing south along the coast, about 25 minutes, we find the Protected Natural Reserve of Torre Guaceto, a site important from the point of view of nature. Ideal location for those looking for a different beach from the usual crowded bathing Italian and characterized by clean beaches. Numerous services are offered from the Visitor Centre: nature walks, cycling, kite-surfing, diving, etc.. From the environmental point of view its importance is due to the presence of a wetland, where you can spot a variety of birds, both resident and passing, in the presence of the Mediterranean with its typical plants such as juniper, mastic and Aleppo pine, and, finally, the presence of a marine ecosystem of considerable biological interest, thanks to the establishment in 1991 of natural marine reserve.
