This beautifully presented second floor apartment in Edinburgh’s Old Town has a communal roof area with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle - perfect for watching the Edinburgh International Festival and Hogmanay fireworks, or for having a peaceful drink at sunset.

Bread Street is a fantastic location in the heart of the UK’s favourite city (Observer Travel Awards 2012). The best of Edinburgh is on your doorstep. World-class tourist attractions, cutting-edge theatres and vibrant festival venues can be found amidst a throng of Michelin-starred restaurants, artisan cafes and leafy parks just beyond your threshold. This completely modernised apartment benefits from classic Edinburgh high ceilings and large south-facing windows, as well as a brand new kitchen and shower room. Comfort and convenience are high on the agenda, with luxurious Egyptian cotton bedlinen, a well-equipped kitchen, an iPod/smart phone dock and Wi-Fi throughout.

Check-in is from 3pm on the day of arrival and check-out by 10:30am on the morning of departure. Whenever possible, we are happy to arrange an early baggage drop-off or late baggage collection to suit your travel plans.

We provide a friendly and personal service, meeting all guests on arrival to provide keys and show you around the apartment. Our hope is that the apartment will be a home away from home during your stay in Edinburgh.

The apartment was in a perfect location and very convenient. We found it comfortable and cosy with all the mod cons. Loved the sound system. Also thank you for being such friendly and accommodating hosts - the extended departure time helped us get sorted out easily enough and without any fuss. We are a South African-Swedish couple who love going to new places (especially hot and sunny ones). In 2005 we somehow found ourselves in not-so-sunny, but spectacularly beautiful Scotland, and we are still in Edinburgh today. Combining our passion for property and travel, we always thought it would be fun to have a holiday let, so in 2012 we bought this flat in the perfect Edinburgh location and spent several months giving it a complete makeover. We hope you like it!

Call us biased, but we think this is the PERFECT location to explore Edinburgh (if in doubt, have a look at the list of what's available within 10 minutes' walking distance!). We also love the roof area and the character of the flat, with its high ceilings, bay windows and even an old-fashioned clothes pulley.

A wonderful Week at Edinburgh

Our stay at Edinburgh was very nice, we enjoyed the flat, because it is arranged beautiful and everything is there. When the windows are closed you don't hear the noise from the street.
We were deeply grateful that we could stay in the flat until the afternoon.

FANTASTIC APARTMENT WITH INCREDIBLE LOCATION

All of the sights we wanted to see were conveniently located to the apartment and the view from the roof was outstanding! We enjoyed sitting on the spacious place. The building was nice on the outside, located right next to Edinburgh Castle.

The apartment was very clean, and well maintain, it was exactly as pictured on the website. It was very nice to have a washing machine, an iron, and lots of hangers and storage space. The kitchen was very convenient. The living room and bedrooms were comfortable.

Emelie was charming to deal with! We received a warm welcome from her even if we were late because of a flight delay. My husband and two children also loved the apartment! Highly recommended on every level!

Beautifully updated flat in the heart of the city.

Emilie was there to meet us upon our arrival at the flat. She provided a nice loaf of bread, milk, tea and coffee, etc. which was very thoughtful. The rooftop deck had an amazing view of the castle and so we brought some chairs and wine up one evening to soak it up. We would definitely recommend this flat to friends and family and if we travel to Edinburgh again, we would love to stay there again.

Fab weekend - lovely apartment.

Even though we didn't arrive until gone midnight, Emelie was there to meet us when we arrived. The apartment is really well presented and Emelie had thoughtfully provided milk, tea, bread, delicious biscuits etc.

The apartment is close to the Grassmarket (checkout Cafe Bleu for breakfast - the owner used to work at the Savoy and his food is delicious) and a short walk into the City Centre. We were a little dubious when we arrived as the apartment is very close to some less than desirable establishments. However, while it can be quite noisy at times, we felt safe and had a really great weekend.

Lovely apartment in a great location

We were welcomed at the apartment by Owen as arranged. Emelie had given us the initial contact information and how to get to the apartment.
Owen gave us a detailed overview of the facilities, exactly as described online. The bed was comfortable as described and elsewhere in the apartment there was everything needed to cook at home, clean clothes, watch favourite TV etc. Everything was very clean, tidy and in excellent condition. A big bonus was a few items to help us settle in after the journey including much welcome tea, milk and some bread and butter whilst we found our way around.
Owen provided us with contact details should we have any problems which as it turned out we did not need anything more and next time we spoke was to arrange end of stay handover.
The location of the apartment is ideal. No more than 10minutes one way to Grassmarket with lots of restaurants, bars, designer shops through to simple café/sandwich bars and gift shops. From there uphill (not far) to Royal mile, Castle etc.
Go other way out then within minutes you are on Lothian Road, lots to do here including theatres, bars, restaurants shops and easy stroll down to Princes Street.
We would recommend the Grain Store restaurant for something a bit special, is slightly more expensive than some in the Grassmarket but the rack of venison was fabulous. The Mussel and Steak bar is as name suggests, significantly cheaper if you pick the right things but again good, also in Grassmarket.
Sights to see, too many for three days, but the Castle is a must do, try and be there for the one o'clock gun, Royal Mile, Parliament building at bottom of the Mile. If you want to do Holyrood then check as had that been only reason to go all the way there we found it closed as Royals and VIPs in residence - a notice 1 mile at top of the hill would be welcome.
There are open top buses but be aware you can get all day tickets for anywhere at fraction of cost on the local bus company - ok no commentary but with a guide book and use your eyes.....
Went to Leith to see Royal yacht Britannia - a good visit, note if raining you may not be able to get on the outside decks due to slip hazard.
Owen and Emelie are excellent hosts and deserve success with the apartment and we would recommend a stay here.
