This unique yet traditional mountain house dates back to 1857 and is nestled in the heart of the remote village of Alona. The village is surrounded by ancient forests of hazelnut trees and is located high in the Troodos Mountains at an altitude of 1,200 metres. Mixing modern luxury within a traditional setting, this beautiful guest house, offers unrivalled peace and tranquillity for couples or small families wanting to get away from it all! The location of the house, serves as an excellent base from which to explore the many wonders that Cyprus has to offer.
Arriving at Alona Treetops 1857 couldn't be more authentic - with it's traditional wooden doors, original stone walls, and unique layout - guests will feel as if they have stepped back in time, but with all the comforts of modern day living. The house is laid out over 3 levels and has retained many of the original features throughout.
LOWER LEVEL - Kitchen, Bathroom, Dining area, Garden with seating
The lower level of the house has been renovated in what used to be the old stables. The kitchen is modern, fully equipped with washing machine and dishwasher, and has everything needed for a self catering holiday. Above the hardwood worktops, the original stone walls incorporate some of the old feeding troughs used for livestock in bygone days. The stone walls continue into the bathroom which has been fitted with modern shower, toilet and handbasin. There is a small dining area off the kitchen, with seating for 4 people. The garden can be accessed from the kitchen - where guests can sit in the shade of the vine and enjoy the views. External lighting creates the perfect ambience for an evening under the stars!
MIDDLE LEVEL: Main entrance to house - Lounge, Dining area, Terrace with seating
Traditional double doors open into a spacious living area with original stone walls. There are 2 large sofas, an armchair and dining table with seating for 6. The terrace can be accessed from the lounge area, and has seating for 4 with parasol.
UPPER LEVEL - Bedroom, Terrace with seating
The bedroom is triple aspect with beautiful panoramic views across the valley. There are 2 double beds, situated on either side of the staircase which opens up into the middle of the room. There is also a comfortable seating area with a small sofa and 2 armchairs. Double doors lead onto a good sized terrace area where guests can relax and enjoy the wonderful views across the hazel tree forest.
My name is Harris and I was born and raised in Cyprus. I am a fashion designer and currently live and work in New Delhi. I decided to offer my home for holiday rental, so that people visiting Cyprus could experience the joy of real village life, whilst in a comfortable and contemporary setting. The house belonged to my Grandmother, and holds many happy memories for me as a child. It was passed to me for safe keeping and I would like to share with guests my love for both the house and the beauty of the surrounding area.
The house is mainly built from traditional old stone and is laid out over 3 levels. It has a rustic but modern feel, with old stone walls and many original features throughout.
Alona is located in the northern side of the Troodos mountain region. It is surrounded by the peaks of “Madari” and “Papoutsa” and sits at an altitude of 1200 metres.
The village overlooks a green valley full of hazelnut trees, which makes it one of the most beautiful villages in the region. Fragrant fruit trees are in abundance during the summer months.
The village is an ideal location from which to explore the natural beauty of the island, and to discover the Troodos mountain region.

Payment is in Euros, by bank transfer only.
A deposit of 50% will be required at the time of reservation to secure the booking. Balance is due eight weeks before arrival date.
All prices include tourist tax, electricity and water.
For bookings of more than one week, there will be a cleaning charge of €25 payable on arrival
Refundable damage deposit €200 - payable by cheque on arrival
