About Sharyn Morgan

The croft on which the holiday property has been built has been in my family for over 300 years, when the clearances took place from Ardgour.

Sharyn Morgan purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Sharyn Morgan chose Fort William

This lodge has been purpose built for holiday lets and so has everything you will need for your holiday.

What makes this cabin unique

The view from the lounge and bedrooms are, I think, the best in Fort William, and many of our guests agree.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Everything about the lodge was spot on the cosy-ness, the fire (especially, which you could probably tell by there being no wood left), tv, kitchen essentials.

Thank you and hope to return in a warmer climate.

A cosy log cabin with an amazing view.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the lodge. The two nights we spent were relaxing and the view was incredible. Fabulous showers and overall very comfortable . We will visit again and spend some more time around the hauntingly beautiful glenfinnan to mallaig area.

Lake-side Haven

  • 4 out of 5
After a bit of a confusing start.....make sure to have the correct name to your cabin, as there are two.....we happily settled into a delightful little cabin with a view of the lake and mountains from the large windows and expansive deck. All interior spaces and surfaces were very clean, modern and comfortable and we loved the room-darkening curtains and the beds! Perfect for 2 couples or family with children. Would certainly love to return to this cabin and explore even more of the Ft. William area. Be sure to make reservations well ahead for the Harry Potter train ride!

Perfect!

  • 5 out of 5
I chose here for last minute getaway as a surprise for my Hubby on our anniversary. I wanted somewhere we could sit and watch the world go by and recharge the batteries and that's exactly what I got! The drive to the lodges is worth the trip alone...the road in from the north takes you past the beautiful Loch Laggan. The road from the south brings you through the stunning Glencoe mountains. The lodge itself is easy to find, set back from the road and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Although the lodges sit side by side they are still very private due to their positions. We stayed in Heron and the views across Loch Linnhe and onto the surrounding hills are beautiful. The lodge was spotless, very comfortable, fully equipped with all you need. There is a lovely wood burner but we didn't need it...we managed to hit the Highlands on a gloriously hot day! The shower is definitely a 'power shower' and the bath is one that you can actually lie in properly (the best part is there is two of each!), beds were comfortable - we have a super king size at home and it's rare to find one one holiday and the bedding was spotless which is a big thing for me! Rooms are spacious so it's perfect for a family as well as a couple. There's loads to do on the doorstep and we'd recommend a wee trip with Crannog Cruises which you'll find just five minutes up the road in Fort William itself. They'll take you down Loch Linnhe (past the lodges!) and show you the fish farms, mussels farms, beautiful views of Nevis and if you're lucky (as we were) the seals playing and swimming in the Loch. We'll definitely be back...hopefully in winter to see another side of the area (and we'll maybe need the wood burner too!)

A fantastic location for honeymoon

  • 5 out of 5
This was a great location for a break after our wedding. There was a bottle of champange on arrival - a really nice thought.

The lodge is beautifully equipped and great for a relaxing holiday. We only had a short drive to get to Ben Nevis and other great mountains for walking.

The location is within easy reach of Fort William and there is a lovely fish restaurant on the edge of Fort William as well. We will wish to come back at a later date.

Fantastic Lodge in a fantastic location.

  • 4 out of 5
The lodge is only a couple of hundred yards from the edge of Loch Linnhe, the shores of which can be reached via a short walk. The views from the terrace are wonderful looking directly out over the Loch and on to the mountains beyond - sunsets are particularly spectacular.
The Lodge itself is very spacious, with a large living dining area and kitchen. Each bedroom has a super-king size bed (though I had one split into two singles for my kids), and each has it's own en-suite bathroom, with what I consider to be, a luxury power shower. As each bedroom was at opposite ends of the lodge, noise wasn't an issue either. Each room also has patio doors out onto the terrace, which would be lovely in the summer months.
Being so close to Fort William and the town centre, there are a multitude of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. You are also only a 40 min drive from Fort Augustus at the bottom of Loch Ness for some monster hunting.
As the roads around this part of Scotland are few and far between, you often find that once you are on a road, that is usually the one you stay on to get to your destination, so getting lost isn't too much of an issue.
Not only would I recommend this property to my friends and relatives, I already have; and would love the opportunity to return again.

The perfect getaway!

  • 5 out of 5
I can't say enough good things about this property. In fact I almost don't want to share my review in case it makes it harder to get booked again! There are two identical properties here, we stayed in Otters Bank. We booked to stay for 2 nights over New Year and were very pleased to get a booking at short notice and at such a reasonable price. The quality of the property is fantastic. Homely but modern interior, with a log burning stove as well as excellent kitchen and bathroom provision that truly made it a home from home. You'd have no problem staying a week or more here, with washing and drying facilities included.

Sharyn had left us a nice box of chocolates and the Christmas tree was still up, which made the arrival that bit more special. The house is split into two identical wings that each have their own en-suite with bath and shower, plus underfloor heating. The living space links the two and is spacious and cosy. All rooms enjoy a great view out to the loch, and a small path leads down to the shore should you want to explore.

There is a large timber deck to the rear, on the first night we sat out and watched the stars. Due to the remote location there were plenty on show. Overall a great place for a couple or family to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and quiet, or explore the surrounding landscape. Will be going back and would definitely recommend to others.

Fort William is the Outdoor Capital of the UK, situated in Lochaber. There are many things to see and do including skiing, hill walking, cruising, mountain biking, fishing, an informative museum, great restaurants and live music in the bars. Gorgeous beaches at Arisaig just an hours drive away. Take the steam train to Mallaig in the summer months, or a cruise on Loch Linnhe to see the seals. There is a gondola taking you to the top of Aonach Mhor for magnificent views. Glenfinnan is 20 minutes away where the Bonnie Prince Charles monument stands at the head of Loch Sheil. where you can take a wildlife cruise and see Golden Eagles.

The world championship downhill mountain biking event is held at Lenachan every June, and the 6 day trials for trial bikes in May.

Glencoe is 30 minutes away for wonderful scenery and hillwalking. The National Trust for Scotland Glencoe gives an informative history of the geology of the area, as well as some history of the area. There is also a lovely museum in Glencoe and a nice walk around the Lochan.

Glen Nevis is a lovely place to walk and relax, and Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK is a challenging walk for those guests who are up for it.
