Our Family owns a farm on the Olympic Peninsula so staying on this organic farm for our holiday was extra special. The setting of the farm is magnificent and Ellen, our most gracious host, provides great vegetables and herbs that allowed us to cook great meals in the beautiful kitchen and saved us the expense of eating less quality food out. The house was the equivalent of a 4-5 star hotel, which was certainly a bonus. I can't imagine a better place for people who love nature, great food, and comfort to spend a tropical vacation. We will be back!!!
Ellen and Jim are just the coolest. There vision and passion to create a tranquil paradise just shines like the many rainbows at the farm. I had lilikoi puree with Greek yogurt and tropical fruit with Island honey every morning . The farm is a refuge where one can find peace and harmony in their surroundings in total privacy. I actually felt I had a five star resort all to myself but here you can pick all the food you want off the trees , it just doesn't get any better. The property is situated in an area of the North Shore which offers a wide variety of local beaches combined with the typical tourist beaches which offers unlimited recreational activities. Ellen is a gracious, welcoming host with a long history of living on the island and her life experience is just fascinating. From the moment we arrived she made us feel the farm was our home also. A very special place filled with Aloha.
We have stayed in many wonderful places that we found on VRBO, but Kauai Paradise Farm is by far the best yet. From the moment we drove up the driveway lined with beautiful foliage and interesting birds until we stepped into the beautiful house, we knew this was the place for us. Each minute after that just got better and better.
The 2 BR 2 BA house was spotless and very well stocked. Paper products, bath soap, beach towels and beach chairs were provided. Every cooking pan and utensil we needed was there. Fresh fruit was on the counter and fresh eggs in the fridge as well as a great assortment of condiments. Ellen kept us in fresh eggs the whole time we were there and we picked fresh fruit as we needed to restock. The papaya was especially sweet! Ellen even came by with fresh made Lilikoi ice cream and a Citrus Hibiscus/Roselle drink for us to enjoy. Wonderful! Be sure to visit the Kauai Paradise Farm Facebook page for more info and lots of photos of the fruits and veggies grown there.
As others have mentioned, we were concerned about privacy with the owners right next door, but it was never an issue. The hosts were as available as we wanted. When we had questions, Ellen was happy to help, and when we wanted peace and quiet, we had it.
Every morning we sat out on the back patio watching the birds and enjoying the views. The gazebo room is fantastic, but we rarely used it preferring to be outside on one of the many patios.
We would usually head out for the day after breakfast (fresh eggs and fresh fruit from the farm, yum!) to the nearby ocean beaches, the Kilauea Lighthouse NWR (where Red-footed Boobys, White and Red-tailed tropicbirds, and Shearwaters were easily viewed), or Princeville and Hanalei for restaurants and shopping.
The farm is very secluded and quiet. You will need a rental car to get around, but the peace and beauty are worth the short drives to tourist activities.
We just can't say enough about this lovely home that we had the pleasure of experiencing in July of this year. My husband, 3 teenage children and I spent 4 nights in this paradise and wish we could have stayed forever. This was our first trip to Kauai and when we walked into this home, we couldn't believe our eyes. It was a tropical paradise. The home itself was clean and impeccably decorated. It was bright and beautiful. The tropical plants, fruit, flowers and mountain view were amazing. I couldn't stop taking it all in and of course taking pictures. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises and lots and lots of stars. It was quiet and peaceful with the sound of the stream lulling us to sleep. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the bathtub in the master bathroom was perfect at the end of a busy day. Ellen and Jim thought of everything, from the fresh flowers all over the house, to the fresh pineapples, lilikoi, lychee and papaya that we were treated to, to the fresh eggs every morning, to the rich hand soaps and body lotions, to the wonderful bottle of wine and honey that was awaiting us when we arrived. They couldn't have thought of anything more. The kitchen is gorgeous with up to date appliances and the washer and dryer came in very handy. My two favorite areas were the screened in sun room that had an incredible breeze and the back patio with the beautiful mountain view. We couldn't get enough of the views and the sounds of nature. Even my teenage children were impressed. The fans and the screened in windows all over the house brought in the warm breezes and made sleeping very comfortable without the need for air conditioning. The location of the house is perfect. On the north coast of Kauai close to Hanalei town and Bay and the magnificent Napali Coast. Ellen was very helpful and pleasant yet we had complete privacy. She gave us tips on areas to visit that are more secluded and we found her input extremely helpful. Thank you Ellen for making our stay one that we will always remember. We will definitely visit again. We're already missing the feel of paradise that is your home. Aloha.
We had our first real two week vacation as a family with my son and husband. This place was paradise. It is one of the most beautiful tropical settings I have ever stayed. The owners Jim and Ellen were very helpful and so enjoyable. Our biggest concern was privacy wince they lived on the property. We had complete privacy! Our son loved going on frog hunts and looking at the stars at night. This is one of those places that your jaw just drops when you see the property and home for the first time. Jim and Ellen think of everything you might need and have it for you ready in the house. Great vacation!
Kauai Paradise Inn is truly paradise. My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary surrounded by the sounds of birds, frogs and gorgeous scenery which included a vibrant, colorful botanical-like garden setting, blessed with tropical fruits, an organic garden full of herbs and fresh eggs every morning. A pretty little creek with a pond flows along the property next to the house. Sharp green mountains greeted us most days with intermittent cloud bursts of warm tropical showers keeping the area wonderfully lush. The house was very clean and came beautifully decorated with Ellen's fresh tropical plant decor throughout. Our mouths dropped when we say the gourmet kitchen which set us off to the first farmer's market to try out new, fun recipes. The kitchen has top of the line appliances and gorgeous counter tops of granite or quartz. The gas stove top is a chef's delight and the kitchen comes fully equipped just like home. One of my favorites was the walk-in shower with open-screened windows just above shoulder level with lovely bushes outside to make it feel as though I was taking a shower in the forest. The entire house is well-maintained and the many windows are screened which kept the few critters at bay and allowed the breezes to draft throughout the house. The property is about 3 miles inland off the main road tucked away among other large properties along a well-maintained paved road. Markets and beaches are a short 5 or 10 min. drive from the house. The description of the property on their website and in VRBO is accurate right down to the last word and photo. Without a doubt we would be honored to return to this property and will highly recommend it to family and friends.
We are located in a gorgeous agricultural area of the north shore. We organically raise chickens, fruit and vegetables for sale and trade along with producing facial products seasonally. We strive to give you an awesome small farm experience by supplying these items, included in the price. Ten minutes from the house are amazing zip-lining, ATV, horse, biking and hiking tours.
