About Philip Green

Philip and Derek own a specialist travel business.

This is our home in Scotland where we spend at least one month per year and holiday let the house the rest of the year.

Philip grew up a Yorkshire farmer and Derek is from Carlisle.

Philip Green purchased this chateau / country house in 1988

Why Philip Green chose Onich

Philip first saw this house in April 1988 and fell in love with the spectacular location and this beautiful Scottish house. He immediately bought it and has since spent many happy times with family and friends in this magnificent house.

We have renovated the house twice since 1988 and re-landscaped the grounds in 2013.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

It is spacious, warm and comfortable. Even if there are 14 of you, it doesn't feel crowded. Some folks sit in the conservatory, some play pool, some hang out in the kitchen and others watch the 42 inch flat screen TV in the lounge.

We all get together for meals around the dining table.

We have had many parties here:- just move one settee from the lounge to the hall, roll back the rug and you have room for Scottish Country dancing. Oh the Gay Gordons! What a Highland Fling!

Above all high expectations

Stayed here with four other families for our annual school week away in October and it was magnificent. Beautiful scenery, stunning rooms, amazing sunsets and lots and lots of fun. We'll be back!

Stunning property.

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed on arrival,, when we entered the house everyone was delighted at my choice for the weekend my two grandchildren aged and 14 and 15 loved how homely it was! It was like home from home as the facilities were perfect, the property was very clean and well maintained the owner was very helpful with any information I required, as this was a relaxing long weekend break we weren't really looking for anything to do we did go into Fort William and took in the walk to the Inchree Falls which are nearby and the views are stunning, plenty of water sports nearby too if you like to be adventurous. I would recommend this accommodation and can't wait to go back.

Fantastic House, Fantastic Weekend

  • 5 of 5

The house and it's surroundings completely surpassed our expectations. The whole house is warm and spacious. Having the open fires lit for our arrival was a lovely touch. We had a great weekend and would definitely return. Thank you.

Idyllic Manor House in fanastic location

  • 5 of 5

Superb home for a large group (7 adults, 7 children) with ample space, lovely furnishings and very generously fitted out. In particular having so many bathrooms is incredibly helpful. Generous too about allowing dogs - who also had a great time!

The location can't really be faulted, with west views, the loch/sea, mountain walks on the doorstep, Scotland's most dramatic landscapes a short drive away. The price - for our off-season visit was extremely reasonable to say the least. We didn't want to leave!

Perfect loch side location

  • 5 of 5

Impressive but homely large house.

Perfect location by the loch side & plenty of outside space for all the family.

Well presented but not too precious - perfect for adults and children alike.

Beautiful mix of the traditional and the modern - esp the art work!

Would highly recommend.

Car: recommended

Set on the sea shore, with magnificent panoramic views of the sea and the mountains.

Ideal touring base with routes radiating out in all directions.

Close to Ben Nevis and even closer to the magnificent mountains of Glencoe. A perfect base for climbing the dozens of 'Munro' mountains within a 30 minute drive, or easy local walks direct from the house such as the 3 mile circular route around Inchree waterfalls.

Excellent base for cycling and mountain biking in the surrounding forest tracks or along the old railway line to Oban which is now a national cycle path.
