About Philip Green

Philip and Derek own a specialist travel business.

This is our home in Scotland where we spend at least one month per year and holiday let the house the rest of the year.

Philip grew up a Yorkshire farmer and Derek is from Carlisle.

Philip Green purchased this chateau / country house in 1988

Why Philip Green chose Onich

Philip first saw this house in April 1988 and fell in love with the spectacular location and this beautiful Scottish house. He immediately bought it and has since spent many happy times with family and friends in this magnificent house.

We have renovated the house twice since 1988 and re-landscaped the grounds in 2013.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

It is spacious, warm and comfortable. Even if there are 14 of you, it doesn't feel crowded. Some folks sit in the conservatory, some play pool, some hang out in the kitchen and others watch the 42 inch flat screen TV in the lounge.

We all get together for meals around the dining table.

We have had many parties here:- just move one settee from the lounge to the hall, roll back the rug and you have room for Scottish Country dancing. Oh the Gay Gordons! What a Highland Fling!

It was a blessing

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed just for 4 days but we felt totally blessed to have a chance to meet this house.
It is awesome and all of us want to come back as soon as possible.
Everything was so charming and you felt like a throwback in another time.
All rooms were very clean and we felt like home. It was comfortable and something special to live some time in a place like this!!!!

Gobsmacking outlook down the Loch to the islands

  • 5 out of 5
Came across the bridge thinking what a view, but the view from the house is even better. You can see up to the Pap of Glen Coe in one direction and down the Loch to Mull in the other and the light changes so swiftly the view is different every hour.
We were a party of twelve for my birthday and I had worried that we had too many strong characters, but the house just gently spread them out and worked it's relaxing magic on them. We only really came together for drinks and meals, and then the rooms held us comfortably.
The showers were great in the mornings and coming back to a sauna after a good walk was so relaxing. Other members of the group went off to Malaig on the train and another set went up the gondola to the Nevis Ski Range.
Different groups had particularly good lunches at The Loch Leven Seafood Cafe and the Cranog restaurant in Fort William. The walkers had good soup and a sandwich at the Inn at Ardgour and in the Boot Room at the pub on the road that runs parallel to the A82 in Glen Coe, (if I remember it's name I'll edit this and put the name in, Craig something I think?)
As a recommendation one of my brother's has already booked the house for his birthday next year and I've made sure I'm invited to that, because I can't wait to return to this most relaxing of houses.

Stunning location, fabulous house

  • 5 out of 5
A group of 12 adults and 2 children stayed at Ardrhu house over New Year. The house is beautiful and has a stunning location on the edge of Loch Linhe and close to Glen Coe and the beautiful cascade at Inchree. The house is perfect for large group with enough space for everyone. It is also great for dealing with Scottish weather with a pool table and a sauna which is great for warming up after a swim in the loch or a walk in the rain or snow. Looking forward to the next trip in the summer already !!

Unbelievable setting and perfect vacation home!

  • 5 out of 5
My extended family gathered in Scotland for a Highlands adventure. We could not have asked for a more perfect home from which to base our vacation! The kids loved exploring the "Castle House" and playing on the lawn. The view was breathtaking. We would most certainly stay there again!

Stunning property in an idyllic location!

  • 5 out of 5
Our party of 10 arrived at the property on the Friday night and were blown away but this beautiful house. For such a large place it had an immediately cosy and welcoming feel. It was very clean and well kept, I couldn’t say a single negative word about it. The owner was very helpful and a joy to converse with.
I’d recommend Ardrhu to anyone and we’re already planning our next visit.

Lovely house in a wonderful location.

  • 4 out of 5
We started planning our vacation very late and there are very few holiday rentals which could accommodate all fifteen of us. I'm not sure if we would have booked a better house even if we had a lot of time. The house was exactly as shown in the photos. The views from the house were amazing, we are happy with our choice.

Set on the sea shore, with magnificent panoramic views of the sea and the mountains.

Ideal touring base with routes radiating out in all directions.

Close to Ben Nevis and even closer to the magnificent mountains of Glencoe. A perfect base for climbing the dozens of 'Munro' mountains within a 30 minute drive, or easy local walks direct from the house such as the 3 mile circular route around Inchree waterfalls.

Excellent base for cycling and mountain biking in the surrounding forest tracks or along the old railway line to Oban which is now a national cycle path.
