A lovely spacious house ideal for a large group.

The house was as described, and was just what we needed for a large celebration for the extended family. The kitchen was well equipped with more than adequate amounts of cutlery and crockery. We all loved the hot tub - an ideal way to relax after a day out, exploring the surrounding area. The views were lovely, and being woken by the gaggle of geese in the adjacent field was an unusual experience!
I would definitely recommend this property to a friend... we were sorry to have to leave after such a lovely week!

Gorgeous countryside

Our greatest difficulty was negotiating Sheffield! Lovely each part of our party arriving separately at the house without difficulty only the name of the house which we did not know! Lovely well equipped kitchen, very comfortable rooms all very clean and tidy and ideal for our family group- our two youngsters loved it.Never used the hot tub as too hot and did not seem adjustable, but the lawn area proved great for badminton, and we easily lit the wonderful fire. We enjoyed very much the surrounding area which gave us running, climbing, and geocaching, and the 'Royal' where we had pre-booked a dinner and 'Molly' visits were a must. Lovely meat, and the most tasty beer! Definitely to be recommended. Great parking space.

Good property, great location, but lacks charm.

A great property for a group holiday. We were 11 people (6 adults, 2 teens, 3 children and a dog) and it accommodated us easily. We all slept well as noise didn't travel between rooms. Location is stunning with the Peak District on your doorstep and beautiful walks/cycle rides all around. The reservoir is a nice nearby walk. All this and just 5 miles from Sheffield. But......there was a distinct lack of finishing touches. You had to bring your own towels, no logs on arrival, no tea towels, no toilet paper! It didn't feel very welcoming - in fact, given the price, it felt stingy. We put this to the owner, who lives next door and she was very friendly and explained that towels went walkies with previous renters and the cleaners did not follow her instructions. She gave us tea towels and apologised. She explained that she has previously had the 'stag party' market in who had abused the place and hospitality so the extras were withdrawn. But now that the prices are at the upper end we would encourage her to throw in these extras as they don't cost much and make such a difference (especially on arrival). It should feel like a home (and it was the previous owner's home) and when you arrive to find a shell it can feel cold. Nonetheless, there isn't far to go to make it a top class venue. (the crockery, glassware, cutlery and decor could do with some updating too!).

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to put a review on . I am sorry you didn't have chance to read my email prior to your arrival with regards to bringing your own logs and the comments that towels are not provided . I apologise again for no toilet rolls, sometimes the cleaning of the property at the change over is very challenging for them, depending how it's been left by the departing guests, therefore it may have slipped through the net.

We keep the pricing of the property extremely keen and we do provide ample heating for the season. Not all guests choose to use the fire due to young children which is why it is up to each individual should they choose to use it, to bring their own logs/coal. Your holiday I believe equated to £30 per night per person which I believe to be extremely good value for the large accommodation plus hot tub on offer?

I am surprised you find the property lacking in character ? It is a wonderful old farmhouse that has has much refurbishments in particular the solid oak kitchen with solid oak work surfaces is just some of the details on offer . The property has always been highly regarded by previous guests and my rebookers however I will take on board your comments.

I agree it's a wonderful location and the reservoir is a superb walk.

The hamlet of Storrs is idyllically situated on the edge of the picturesque Peak District National Park. This sleepy hamlet has a small amount of farms and dwellings together with many bridleways and footpaths to discover. Visit the nearby Damflask, Agden, Dale Dike and Ladybower dams to make for an interesting afternoon's ramble, while the attractive village of Hathersage is also within easy reach. Why not walk to a local farm and enjoy their delicious home made 'our cow molly' ice-cream!! Should you wish for a little lively activity then why not visit the city of Sheffield which is within a short drive. The Farmhouse offers an ideal location for an enjoyable holiday or get together at any time of year.
